Summary

A beautiful invitation to discover your place in God's heart and let him set the pace for your life--from a wife and mother, singer-songwriter, and worship leader for Passion Conferences and IF: Gathering

"Christy Nockels is a gentle, strong voice shepherding us into a fuller life with Jesus at the very center。 This book will restore your weary soul。"--Jennie Allen, New York Times bestselling author of Get Out of Your Head and founder and visionary of IF: Gathering

Christy Nockels knows firsthand how easily our desire to serve God--even when using the gifts He has given us--can overshadow our delight in simply being with Him。 When God called her to lay down her ministry for a season, Christy was forced to confront how her sense of purpose and worth had become tangled up in her work。 God then lovingly invited her to discover true rest in His presence as she learned to live as the Beloved。

In The Life You Long For, Christy shows us how to let go of hustle and achievement and instead find our identity in the quiet center of God's love。 As we delight in being with Him, we are filled to overflowing with contentment and love that propel us into an entirely new way of being, one in which every act of service and every encounter with the people around us arise from a heart at rest。

With irresistible warmth and grace, this book calls you to step fully into the life you didn't even realize you've been seeking, as you find your highest calling not in a duty to uphold but in a beautiful identity to live out。

Wonderful book written from the heart of a person who truly wants to have others find rest in God。 Very practical, challenging and convicting。 Great reminder of who and whose we are and what that should mean to us。 Would recommend it to anyone!

As a die-hard “Glorious in the mundane” podcast listener, of course I had to pick up Christy’s book。It’s really good, and a succinct summary of much of her podcast。 Her content is always so good, as a stay-at-home-mom (going on 10 years) it’s always filled with reminders that my little heart needs。Only 4 stars because it’s a LOT of repeat material if you listen to her podcast, and I hate to say it but I do prefer the podcast medium。 Christy’s voice is soothing, having her talking as I’m doing th As a die-hard “Glorious in the mundane” podcast listener, of course I had to pick up Christy’s book。It’s really good, and a succinct summary of much of her podcast。 Her content is always so good, as a stay-at-home-mom (going on 10 years) it’s always filled with reminders that my little heart needs。Only 4 stars because it’s a LOT of repeat material if you listen to her podcast, and I hate to say it but I do prefer the podcast medium。 Christy’s voice is soothing, having her talking as I’m doing the dishes feels like a dear friend is with me! 。。。more

Christy Nockels writes from the heart。 The whole time I was reading, I felt like I was chatting with a friend over a cup of coffee— easy-going, truth-filled, and led by the Spirit。 This book had left me in awe and has challenged me in my faith journey in many ways!

A book that makes you feel seen and embraced and called forth to deeper, higher things。 One I will probably reread many times to quiet my striving, restless spirit。

Nockels surprised me。 Given her Christian celebrity, I assumed this would be Christianity for the masses - shallow, easy-to-digest, and fluff。 My bad。 Assuming is everything they say it is。Nockels brings years of wisdom to remind you why rest in the Father is so vital。 She's not saying anything new, but her slant is unique and needed。 I felt peace radiating through the pages, so I think (I hope) she practices what she's preaching。 Nockels surprised me。 Given her Christian celebrity, I assumed this would be Christianity for the masses - shallow, easy-to-digest, and fluff。 My bad。 Assuming is everything they say it is。Nockels brings years of wisdom to remind you why rest in the Father is so vital。 She's not saying anything new, but her slant is unique and needed。 I felt peace radiating through the pages, so I think (I hope) she practices what she's preaching。 。。。more

I love almost anything by Christy Nockels。 Her music, her podcast, her hair… 😉 This was a slow read for me but it almost read like a devotional when I took it a little at a time。 I loved hearing her voice come through this book & hearing some more details of her life & journey。 And also more about how we can find rest in Christ。 Wonderful read!

Christy’s music has been a blessing in my life for many years。 I enjoyed reading more about the woman behind the voice, as well as the God whose love makes us sing。

This book surprised me! I am still now meditating on so many things that Christy shared 。。。。 "to remember not to forget" is a big one! I am now calling my quiet time with the Lord - remember time :) And I loved how she ended the book with a very clear sending off。 I highly recommend this book。 This book surprised me! Best book I’ve read on life rhythm, ever。 Living ‘from’ God and not just ‘for’ Him - changing the way I see each day。 Extremely highly recommend。

Such a beautiful book about what it means to be the Beloved of God。 Christy Nockels’s gentle, encouraging teaching in this book was exactly what I needed when I needed it。

I savored this book each morning sitting on my porch。 I love Christy’s CD “Be Held。 “ it’s meant to be lullabies but I feel it’s for adults maybe even more than children。 This book contains many of the stories behind the songs。 The essence is living from the bullseye of Gods rest。 I loved it。 Filled with the Presence of the Holy Spirit

Wonderful。 Literally changed my perspective! A new favorite。

So many things here I needed to hear about career expectations, disappointment and keeping God in the center or bullseye rather than being in the outer circle of constant hustling。 This book reminded me of God’s love and how I am tucked safely in even when the harshness of the world can lead me to doubt。

Michelle Slomp

A lovely book about focusing on the center (God) and how that can to lead to living presently。

4-5 stars。 Took a while to warm up to the book & actually enjoy it。 Then it really hit home the second half。 Will definitely need to re-read it & slowly go through it again because there was so much to it, and I worry some parts didn’t stick/fully soak in。

Christy Nockels has inspired us with her beautiful voice in music for quite a while。 Now she is an author crafting an insightful, encouraging, and, often, melodic style to her writing。 I enjoyed this book and found myself re-learning the concept of living FROM GOD as opposed to living FOR GOD。 I highly recommend it!!

I almost didn’t buy this book bc of the title—it sounded like just another biblical self-help book。 But the subtitle grabbed me—“learning to live from a heart of rest”。 That is something I have been longing for through this whole Covid mess。 The book did not disappoint。 Christy used so many real life examples that I easily related to。 She gave me some questions to think m

Breathtakingly beautiful book! Christy has a true way with words as she encourages her readers to live from the bullseye of their belovedness in Christ。 Filled with insight and word pictures that cement ancient truths in your mind in fresh ways!

An incredibly beautiful, peaceful read。 Refreshing to my soul。

I will never be able to review this book with justice。 It’s a perspective changer。 If you love Jesus, and you feel you are living and walking in the abundant life He gives His Beloved, let it encourage you。 If you are a believer and you feel you struggle with this or need a good reminder, read it。 More than any other book I’ve read, this Scripture-saturated, Biblical context-driven book, had so many practical descriptions on how to apply Scripture to our busy, busy life。 Don’t get me wrong in th I will never be able to review this book with justice。 It’s a perspective changer。 If you love Jesus, and you feel you are living and walking in the abundant life He gives His Beloved, let it encourage you。 If you are a believer and you feel you struggle with this or need a good reminder, read it。 More than any other book I’ve read, this Scripture-saturated, Biblical context-driven book, had so many practical descriptions on how to apply Scripture to our busy, busy life。 Don’t get me wrong in that it’s “a one-size fits all, let me give you method,” but like I said— it’s a perspective changer that propels one to dig into Scripture and walk in the highest calling we have been given as the Beloved children of God by remembering Whose we belong to。 1000000/10 recommend。 。。。more

This was step-by-step exactly where God had me even the days I didn’t get a chance to read like I wanted and then I picked it up later that was the moment that the writing begin to come alive in the exact situation I have encountered down to the Scriptures I had focused on in the situation as I was facing! All of that to say, Christy Nockels wrote a book for this exact time and the Lord is using it powerfully thank you!!

Kathy Van Der Dyke

Christy is soft-spoken and sincere, but her words pack a punch。 I loved her insights that will help me to find soul rest for my next season。 Great book!!

The sweet voice of the singer who has led our hearts in worship through song, speaks to readers in this book through experiences of suffering and courage。 Christy Nockels is a gentle mentor as she shares insight on the concentric circles of our life of service and faith。 Her honeycomb heart draws us to a deeper faith。

Kristina Stansbury

The focus of this book is what we all need, Jesus! No “to do” list, no recipe, just a relationship with Jesus。 Refreshing

Wonderful work of art, so encouraged by her walk with Christ。 Thankful for Christy sharing deep sorrows and vulnerability。 Definitely would recommend to a friend!
