Penelope has to be my favorite character in the Bridgerton world! I really loved her and Colin’s story

Katie

I enjoyed this one, but I didn't like how Penelope seemed to totally change her character around when she hooked up with Colin。 She did gain it back later on。(view spoiler)[I could have sworn that the prologues in earlier books in this series mention Lady Whistledown still writing a decade plus in the future。。。 so I'm confused how she's now unmasked and done writing。 It also seems to leave something to be desired in the remaining four books。 (hide spoiler)] I enjoyed this one, but I didn't like how Penelope seemed to totally change her character around when she hooked up with Colin。 She did gain it back later on。(view spoiler)[I could have sworn that the prologues in earlier books in this series mention Lady Whistledown still writing a decade plus in the future。。。 so I'm confused how she's now unmasked and done writing。 It also seems to leave something to be desired in the remaining four books。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

。。。more

4。75 Stars, rounded up。 This may be my favorite of the series, I fell in love with this relationship originally from season 1 of the show, and was so excited to get to this book and to really explore this relationship more。 I love Pen and Collin together, they are so cute and really love how it was built off of friendship and how Eloise ties into their story so well。 It was also interesting to read about Lade Wistledown, because that really is the biggest difference between the show and the book 4。75 Stars, rounded up。 This may be my favorite of the series, I fell in love with this relationship originally from season 1 of the show, and was so excited to get to this book and to really explore this relationship more。 I love Pen and Collin together, they are so cute and really love how it was built off of friendship and how Eloise ties into their story so well。 It was also interesting to read about Lade Wistledown, because that really is the biggest difference between the show and the books, but for her to finally be revealed in this book I thought was a nice touch。 。。。more

Colin é apaixonante。 Penelope é uma moça que não sabia do seu potencial e sempre ficava às margens da sociedade, quando na verdade é muito mais do que pensava。 Apaixonante! O amor dos dois é lindo ❤️

I haven't read the previous books but I enjoyed the TV series and HAD to know what happens between Penelope and Colin! It was a fun and lighthearted reading and I look forward to seeing how it will be transposed on screen。 I haven't read the previous books but I enjoyed the TV series and HAD to know what happens between Penelope and Colin! Ich bin ein riesiger Bridgerton-Fan und habe mich, nachdem ich die ersten 3 Bücher gelesen habe, sehr auf den 4。 Band gefreut。 Und ich wurde micht enttäuscht! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Seeing the second season just some days prior, that experience definitely enhanced this one。Why have her be saved by a man? She could've just revealed herself? Also。。。 of course she is pregnant at the end。 :) The author could've just said they had a healthy sex life。 The author also managed to make Simon look like an asshole with just 2 appearances。 Congrats! I hope that's her trying to say that they have a toxic marriage but it's definitely Daphne's fault too。 If you want to do something like t Seeing the second season just some days prior, that experience definitely enhanced this one。Why have her be saved by a man? I want to start off by saying I have not read any of the previous books in this series。 However, after watching the Netflix series, I became interested in Penelope and Colin's story from the get-go and hence jumped right into their story。。。 However, I did hesitate after reading people's reviews below (for those who rated the book below 3 stars)。However, I am glad that I decided to ignore their opinions, particularly about their complaints about Colin, as I really enjoyed this。Just to point out a I want to start off by saying I have not read any of the previous books in this series。 However, after watching the Netflix series, I became interested in Penelope and Colin's story from the get-go and hence jumped right into their story。。。 However, I did hesitate after reading people's reviews below (for those who rated the book below 3 stars)。However, I am glad that I decided to ignore their opinions, particularly about their complaints about Colin, as I really enjoyed this。Just to point out and be clear to future readers, the Netflix series does not follow the book completely and while this is a review of the book, I look forward to the adaptation for Penelope's and Colin's relationship (and for everyone else around them)。Now onto the book review:Colin Bridgerton is the third son in his family, portrayed as the charming man in London, who has returned from his travels。 However, we are shown just prior to his travels, that he had unwittingly broken Penelope's heart。 (While the relationship had mended, Penelope had in a sense shielded her heart。) Now at the edge of thirty-three, he wants to find his place in society (and while at the same time, is pressured by those around him to get married)。Penelope Featherington is a close friend of Colin's sister, Eloise。 Mostly ignored by society, she is also the object of ridicule due to her mother's tendency to dress her in brightly coloured clothes that don't suit her, in desperation to marry off her daughters。 Now twenty-eight, Penelope has now resigned to being a spinster (and her mother now having given up on marrying her off)。 Very much happy and settled into her life of being a spinster, she is much happier now that she gets to choose her own clothing。Colin and Penelope are reunited upon his return abroad, and when Penelope accidentally stumbles upon his private journal, which he gets angry about (which obviously if anyone read something private of yours, one would react in a similar manner), their relationship still grows closer, as the season continues on with the ton。But when Colin learns of Penelope's secret their relationship takes a drastic turn from friends to lovers。 I really enjoyed that there was no rush to the relationship, for Penelope, who still to me remains guarded, and Colin who finds himself being drawn to her, but not completely knowing what he is feeling, along with his desperate attempts to protect her, but her disregard for danger and throwing herself into harm's way, which shows in his frustration as she constantly ignores his said attempts。I really enjoyed this, and as noted at the beginning of my review, I look forward to the Netflix adaptation of their relationship, especially due to the obvious variation in certain relationships, that viewers of the show and readers of the books have seen。 。。。more

I liked the first half/two thirds of this book up until the engagement ball。 After that the drama just got out of hand and was rather silly。。。Colin also wasn't the "hero" I expected。 He was such a manchild and his temper tantrums were over the top。 Penelope on the other hand was everything I wanted her to be。My least favourite Bridgerton book so far。 I liked the first half/two thirds of this book up until the engagement ball。 After that the drama just got out of hand and was rather silly。。。Colin also wasn't the "hero" I expected。 He was such a manchild and his temper tantrums were over the top。 Penelope on the other hand was everything I wanted her to be。My least favourite Bridgerton book so far。 。。。more

only love for my queen penelope, but colin was definitely lacking some character, but he wasn’t nearly as terrible as benedict so it’s fine。 the ending i felt was quite abrupt, even with the epilogues, but i’ve noticed that in quinn’s books。 i did also think their time line was a bit fast, but for a fun romance novel i did simply adore it。 one of my favourite in the series for sure

This is a series about the Bridgertons, but this is Penelope’s story! Love love love the interactions and there’s a lot of quality tropes working here。Minus a star because Colin was an idiot for about 30% of the book!! (A hidden temper is not the character development I’m looking for)。

Rating: 🌟🌟🌟💫I, like the rest of the world, have become totally obsessed with the Bridgerton tv show! I liked season 1 enough (it was okay) but I LOVED season 2!!! In addition, one of the characters that I have always felt was more interesting was Penelope。 I really, really love her in the show and was so curious about her love story with Colin, that I figured I would pick up the book。 And yes, I am reading out of order 🤭I really enjoyed this book。 It's a very fluffy, uncomplicated romance。 One o Rating: 🌟🌟🌟💫I, like the rest of the world, have become totally obsessed with the Bridgerton tv show! Come on, give us what we want!! Colin definitely deserves to pine after our wonderful sweet Penelope!! Also I saw a lot of complaints about how they handle some changes in season 2 vs。 what happens in the book。 Honestly, I like how they are changing up the show (specifically with Penelope)。 I think that a straight book adaptation would have not been as entertaining。 It keeps us on our toes! I will pick up the books here and there- I did grab Kate and Anthony's book (I am OBSESSED with those two!!), but I don't know that I will read every single book。 They're really not my usual taste。 These types of romance books tend to portray a bit of the "alpha male" type, though to a much more lesser degree with actual likable characters。 In this book, Colin has a temper issue which kind of got annoying but he is also very likable as well。 I did enjoy watching Colin slowly and then all of a sudden falling in love with someone he had known his entire life。 I wish we saw him pine more but alas, we can't have everything。 If you love the show, I highly recommend picking up the books! I love the little slice of life moments and seeing our favorite character happy and in love😊 。。。more

i enjoyed it, yet I thought that it moved a little fast, in the sense that Colin saw nothing in Penelope as a lover, and then the next second he was offering a marriage proposal。 but I still really liked it!

I started reading this because I found out Pen & Colin end up together in the series and I was done with watching season 2 in less than a day it came out。 So what most of the reviews that were 3 stars and under pointed out was that Colin was an ass in this book。 (** I will have to point out that as much as I love healthy relationship stories, I do fairly enjoy my share of some toxic angsty stories so my tolerance for asshole male leads can be different that yours) So the reason why Colin can act I started reading this because I found out Pen & Colin end up together in the series and I was done with watching season 2 in less than a day it came out。 So what most of the reviews that were 3 stars and under pointed out was that Colin was an ass in this book。 (** I will have to point out that as much as I love healthy relationship stories, I do fairly enjoy my share of some toxic angsty stories so my tolerance for asshole male leads can be different that yours) So the reason why Colin can act like an ass is because we really only thought Colin was a sweet guy especially with how Penelope views him。 The whole point was that as much as this story is about how Colin rediscovers Penelope, so does she。 She realizes that he's not so perfect of a guy, but all in all that's what makes him perfect in her eyes。 With the degree of how much of an ass he is, I feel that if you didn't stop the series with Anthony or Simon, you shouldn't be too worried with Colin。 I feel like a lot of the low reviews on here don't really take into account that this is supposed to be based in the 1800s where standards and views aren't the same as now in the 21st century。 (Not that I'm trying to justify it but I think it would be less stressful to read if you take that into consideration。) Also, the characters (especially the male leads) are not supposed to be perfect。 Sometimes they are going to be assholes and sometimes they will say and do the dumbest things。 It's the beauty of this series that we see the male and female lead come together and start to synchronize despite the challenges。 And this is a little short thought of how I enjoyed the plot of this book compared to how the Netflix show did it。 I genuinely enjoyed that Penelope and Eloise did not have tension and argument with the exposure of Pen being Lady Whistledown。 I also appreciated how Pen and Eloise's relationship was done in the book compared to the show (I felt like the way the show put it was Eloise would blabber all the time and never acted like a true friend for Pen)。 The way the book was so well done makes me kinda nervous on how the show will do it。。。 。。。more

Definitely my least favorite so far, which I'm sad to say since it was the one I most anticipated。 There good chunks for sure, but how they were put together just felt a bit sloppy and haphazard。 As a writer myself, it made me think that a。 she was still getting to know the characters and how they should interact b。 some scenes were moved to different places without real ironing out to fit them in, and c。 scenes/details were forgotten/undecided in places and contradicted later while others were Definitely my least favorite so far, which I'm sad to say since it was the one I most anticipated。 There good chunks for sure, but how they were put together just felt a bit sloppy and haphazard。 As a writer myself, it made me think that a。 she was still getting to know the characters and how they should interact b。 some scenes were moved to different places without real ironing out to fit them in, and c。 scenes/details were forgotten/undecided in places and contradicted later while others were repeated as if the previous round were forgotten or up for rework/removal。 Apparently the editor didn't call any of that out or ask for refinement, so sadly we got a good rough draft but not a finished version。 。。。more
