We get a fight with a big-bad which is always good。 And a lot of building up an alliance for the majority of the rest of the book which I was okay with。 It wasn't until the surprise at the end that I felt any real disappointment。Obviously I have no idea what Hakari-sensei has planned for the series, but I doubt that bit was needed。 The world of _Skeleton Knight_ could have just stayed the world it was without that drastic change。。。 but then as I said, I don't know what's planned so maybe somethi We get a fight with a big-bad which is always good。 And a lot of building up an alliance for the majority of the rest of the book which I was okay with。 It wasn't until the surprise at the end that I felt any real disappointment。Obviously I have no idea what Hakari-sensei has planned for the series, but I doubt that bit was needed。 The world of _Skeleton Knight_ could have just stayed the world it was without that drastic change。。。 but then as I said, I don't know what's planned so maybe something requires that bit。I'll say this -- it wasn't enough to get me to stop reading it。 。。。more

This book is more about preparing for the next one, but it's nice to see a longer arc and some story setting for a change。 This book is more about preparing for the next one, but it's nice to see a longer arc and some story setting for a change。 。。。more

By the end of this volume of Skeleton Knight, you are giving a bit of information that gives you detail about the origins of the world。 Honestly, I had a feeling that something like this was going to take place and while I wasn't surprised, I am excited to see what is going to happen to my favorite Skeleton Knight and the beautiful women that are his companions。 Highly recommend read。 By the end of this volume of Skeleton Knight, you are giving a bit of information that gives you detail about the origins of the world。 Honestly, I had a feeling that something like this was going to take place and while I wasn't surprised, I am excited to see what is going to happen to my favorite Skeleton Knight and the beautiful women that are his companions。 Highly recommend read。 。。。more

In a convivial twist of plotting, SKELETON KNIGHT。 。 。#7 reverses the sequence of events on which the previous three or four volumes were based。 Instead of permitting readers to sit on the shoulders of Arc and his crew as they venture to new areas, grow entangled with new enemies, and resolve to fight their way free in the book's closing chapters, the present title sees the reverse。 In this volume, the first 100 pages are dedicated to fighting boss-level villain whose thirst for adoration is unq In a convivial twist of plotting, SKELETON KNIGHT。 。 。#7 reverses the sequence of events on which the previous three or four volumes were based。 Instead of permitting readers to sit on the shoulders of Arc and his crew as they venture to new areas, grow entangled with new enemies, and resolve to fight their way free in the book's closing chapters, the present title sees the reverse。 In this volume, the first 100 pages are dedicated to fighting boss-level villain whose thirst for adoration is unquenchable。 The rest of the book lives in service of the aftermath。Naturally, Cardinal Palurumo Avaritia Liberalitas is one bad dude。 His control and siege of Nohzan Kingdom's capital city, Saureah, by way of tens of thousands of undead, is the stuff of nightmares。 Defense of the city and its people thus falls to Arc, Ariane, and Chiyome。 The fight with the cardinal is short but intriguing, as it offers a bit of a shortcut to the characters in their quest to right the wrongs of Holy Hilk Kingdom。 It turns out the pontiff might be a master necromancer with a few custom skills of his own。However, while saving Nohzan Kingdom from imminent doom is worthy of commendation, word quickly spreads about how its neighboring lands are keen to fall -- Delfrent Kingdom to the north and Salma Kingdom to the southwest。 That's not good。 And so the heroes and their new allies spend the remainder of SKELETON KNIGHT。 。 。#7 coordinating an array of alliances -- human, elven, and other -- in an attempt to push back against the inevitable invasion of the undead at the hands of religious zealots from the west。The subsequent emphasis on diplomacy during times of crisis makes good work of showing readers a practical and efficacious solution to an otherwise freely metastasizing problem。 There isn't much action to speak of, as Arc and the gang negotiate for military support from wary kings and stressed-out military governors, but the author doesn't dally。 The characters aren't merely taking up arms against the undead, they're rallying against a corrupt religious institution。 The characters aren't merely seeking partners on the battlefield, they're laying the groundwork for future bridge-building between cultures。 It'd be a shame if all of this were a precursor to an abrupt and rushed conclusion to the book series, but all in all, the whiplash diplomacy brought about by the battle at Saureah is a healthy dose of realism。And with that dose of realism comes a few clever crisscrossing of subplots。 For example, readers again meet the scheming Prince Sekt (Rhoden Kingdom), whom after killing his brother (Dakares) but failing to assassinate his little sister (Yuriarna), appears ready to set into motion another series of disastrous moves。 Another example sees Arc paying tribute to the council of elven elders in the city of Maple, at which point it's made abundantly clear the paladin's elven form is eerily reminiscent of the nation's founder, a woman named Evanjulin。 Little is said of the founder, but the clever side note here is that just as Eva delivered her people into safety, centuries ago, so, too, may Arc do the same for those he cares for。SKELETON KNIGHT。 。 。#7 very much sets the pace and preps the stage for a visceral conflict, plenty full of parallel action and perhaps a handful of double-crossing shenanigans。 The author isn't known for offering readers a glimpse of things to come, but it appears the approaching war will likely reshape the world map for ages。 Whether the war will spill over and resolve the lingering conflicts among the mountain people and their query of belonging remains to be seen。 Whether the war will spill over and resolve disputes in other human territories, including the rite of succession in Rhoden, remains to be seen。 Intrigue abounds。 。。。more
