Summary

When Katy’s mother dies, she is left reeling。 Carol wasn’t just Katy’s mom, but her best friend and first phone call。 She had all the answers and now, when Katy needs her the most, she is gone。 To make matters worse, their planned mother-daughter trip of a lifetime looms: two weeks in Positano, the magical town Carol spent the summer right before she met Katy’s father。 Katy has been waiting years for Carol to take her, and now she is faced with embarking on the adventure alone。

But as soon as she steps foot on the Amalfi Coast, Katy begins to feel her mother’s spirit。 Buoyed by the stunning waters, beautiful cliffsides, delightful residents, and, of course, delectable food, Katy feels herself coming back to life。

And then Carol appears—in the flesh, healthy, sun-tanned, and thirty years old。 Katy doesn’t understand what is happening, or how—all she can focus on is that she has somehow, impossibly, gotten her mother back。 Over the course of one Italian summer, Katy gets to know Carol, not as her mother, but as the young woman before her。 She is not exactly who Katy imagined she might be, however, and soon Katy must reconcile the mother who knew everything with the young woman who does not yet have a clue。

I was so excited to start this book while here in Italy。 I had just finished my latest Grisham and started this leaving Venice heading to Florence。 I was so excited because I had even booked a day trip form Sorrento to Positano/Amalfi Coast and I’m hoping that it works out and I can still go because they said now they might have to cancel。 I couldn’t stay at Poseidon anyways since it’s closed till next month right now。 At first I was wondering to myself if this was the book I really wanted to re I was so excited to start this book while here in Italy。 I had just finished my latest Grisham and started this leaving Venice heading to Florence。 I was so excited because I had even booked a day trip form Sorrento to Positano/Amalfi Coast and I’m hoping that it works out and I can still go because they said now they might have to cancel。 I couldn’t stay at Poseidon anyways since it’s closed till next month right now。 At first I was wondering to myself if this was the book I really wanted to reading as it seemed sad but then it hooked me。 About mid-way through I was like ummm I see what happening and I’m not a fan。 Apparently I didn’t see what was coming because then I was hit with another turn that made me think I wasn’t going to like it after all。 Yet again another turn of events that just angered me almost。 And then there it was, the final twist。 I finished this book sitting in the Napoli train station waiting on the Campania Express heading to Sorrento for my last few days in Italy。 It was then I found myself crying at the end。 I specifically wanted to leave out spoilers and hope you too will enjoy this story。 Looking forward to reading another novel of hers sometime in the near future。 。。。more

A very quick holiday read。 The scenes in Italy were certainly evocative but the book annoyed me in many ways。 The overall major conceit did not work for me at all。 Also, the main character's egotistical and self-centered behavior could be written off to grief but it is hard to root for her。 Lastly, the romanticism of Italy is over the top and borders on Harlequin romance 'love at first site' A very quick holiday read。 The scenes in Italy were certainly evocative but the book annoyed me in many ways。 The overall major conceit did not work for me at all。 Also, the main character's egotistical and self-centered behavior could be written off to grief but it is hard to root for her。 Lastly, the romanticism of Italy is over the top and borders on Harlequin romance 'love at first site' 。。。more

This book was thoughtful and well written。 I felt like I was in Italy and I could picture all the sights and taste all the wonderful food! It was read by Lauren Graham so that was a plus too! I didn’t connect or understand with the main character her relationship with her mother and her disconnect with her husband。 Seems like she had things backwards but that’s just from my own experiences。 I thought the time warp twist was interesting and different。 3。5

This book really spoke to me。 It even deepened my desire to go to Italy。 I wish there was a 4。5Rating! As a mother and someone who had lost their mother I could relate well。

What an enjoyable read。 Started the book with the death of the family and who she left behind。 The matriarch Carol and the close relationship she had to her only child Katy。 During her illness they planned a trip to the Amalfi coast, the trip for 2 tuned out a trip for one。 And who she met during her solo vacation。 To a place her mom always talked about when Katy was growing up。 Stress of illness of death plays on families and marriages。 I really enjoyed this book。 Felt like I was transported to What an enjoyable read。 Started the book with the death of the family and who she left behind。 The matriarch Carol and the close relationship she had to her only child Katy。 During her illness they planned a trip to the Amalfi coast, the trip for 2 tuned out a trip for one。 And who she met during her solo vacation。 To a place her mom always talked about when Katy was growing up。 Stress of illness of death plays on families and marriages。 I really enjoyed this book。 Felt like I was transported to the beaches, and boat trips, and sitting down having meals with Adam, Carol and Katy。 The imagery in this book was。 Really great。 Fun beach read, had a fun time reading Happy reading📖 。。。more

This could have been a good book…but ultimately Choices were made by the author and the more I read, the more I hated the main character。

I would actually give this another 1/2 star。 I really enjoyed the Italian scenery, culture, and food。 I also loved the basic premise of the strong bond between mother and daughter。 I had a lot of trouble believing the time travel bit。 Lauren Graham does a great job with the narration。 Don't listen to this on an empty stomach。 The Italian food imagery will make you famished。 I would actually give this another 1/2 star。 I really enjoyed the Italian scenery, culture, and food。 I also loved the basic premise of the strong bond between mother and daughter。 I had a lot of trouble believing the time travel bit。 Lauren Graham does a great job with the narration。 Don't listen to this on an empty stomach。 The Italian food imagery will make you famished。 。。。more

I’m not sure what fascination Rebecca Serale has with time travel, but um it gave me very similar vibes to In Five Years with better scenery。 The main character kind of irritated me in the beginning but I definitely grew to like her…。 Not sure about that ending tho。 I loved Katy and Max together, they worked perfect, just to find out this girl somehow time traveled and Max is now like old and has a wife。 Her and Eric aren’t meant for each other I’m back with the reviews 😎 ok, this one was cute! I was so excited to start One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle。。 I loved the cover and how bad could be a story that takes place in Italy 。。 I had big hopes to get lost in this story。 Well sadly I was disappointed。Katy’s life is turn upside down once her mother Carol passes after a long battle with cancer。 Carol was just not Katy’s mother - she was her best friend, her confidant, the first person she called in, she was the person that decorated her house, cook for her and the person that was goi I was so excited to start One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle。。 I loved the cover and how bad could be a story that takes place in Italy 。。 I had big hopes to get lost in this story。 Well sadly I was disappointed。Katy’s life is turn upside down once her mother Carol passes after a long battle with cancer。 Carol was just not Katy’s mother - she was her best friend, her confidant, the first person she called in, she was the person that decorated her house, cook for her and the person that was going to spend a week in the magical town of Positano。 Katy is also married a man that adores her 。。 Eric, but she was not sure she wanted to be married to him any more so with airline tickets in hand, hotel arrangements made; Katy packs her suitcase and goes to Italy 。。 sans husband。Once arrived at her destination on the Amalfi Coast, something feels strange, spiritual and in the hotel lobby there stands her 30-year-old mother。 Here is Katy’s chance to get to know her mother youthful self。 Also staying at Katy’s hotel is a young man by the name Alex 。。 a young man that peaks Katy’s interest。 Between meeting her younger mother, Alex, the beautiful Amalfi Coast with its stunning views of ocean and cliffs, charming residents, and let’s not forget all the mouthwatering food, Katy feels herself coming back to life, starts to feel more herself。I know I make it sound like such a great story - a story about a mother and daughter, of grief, heartbreak, and forgiveness。 The main protagonist Katy must be one of the most obnoxious self-absorbed characters in any book I have read 。。 her obsession with her mother was odd, that she was the love of her life; it almost come across as if they were lovers。 Truthfully, I am not sure why I even finished it。 She cheats on her husband and this whole obsession with 30-year-old Carol is nothing more than an outer body moment in time。This novel gets the 2 ½ stars for Rebecca Serle wonderful descriptions of the stunning views of the Amalfi Coast, the town and food being eaten。This was an audiobook read by Lauren Graham and she gets 0 yes ZERO star for her narration 。。 she was horrible - it was the longest 6 hrs and 21 minute audiobook 。。。more

I enjoyed it more starting about 75% through。 Really loved the descriptions of the Amalfi Coast, Positano, and Italy because that’s the number one place I want to visit。 The ending really touched me as well。

I loved the lessons and the way the book ended。 Wasn’t captivating for me until the end however。

Easily a 5 star read for me。 I love the author’s originality and attention to detail。 When I can close my eyes and feel like I am in the same moment as the protagonist, I know it’s going to be a good one 💛

The writing wasn’t necessarily worthy of 4 stars but I loved being transported to the Amalfi Coast in this book:)
