Summary

I bought this book for the library at my school。 This is a very cute message that I will be using with the students here at school and even my young family members。

This is an awesome book for families with deployed Soldiers。

Could be used for multiple scenarios as a resource: bereavement book, separation anxiety, or family separation, etc。 Detailed illustrations depicting different parts of the world, bright and varying use of colors, and a story with twins!

5⭐️ for the illustrations!I purchased this book for my 7YO for Valentines Day! It was cute! The Invisible String connects us to our loved ones when we aren’t physical together (including those in heaven)。 It’s a nice concept with beautiful illustrations。 It talks about invisible strings between family members, best friends, pets, no matter where you are or what you are doing (rock climbing, dancing, in a submarine)。

So beautiful! This is like a warm hug in a book。 A perfect read for when your child is going to separate from you for the first time。

I would love to see a version of this with different illustrations。 It's a good message for kids who are struggling with distance from a loved one, but definitely has a self-published vibe。 Flag that there is reference to heaven and relatives who've passed away if that's relevant to you。 The author thanks God in the endnotes so it's definitely from a religious perspective but not overly heavy handed with it。 I think my 3 year old enjoyed it, but my only question was how exactly one feels the inv I would love to see a version of this with different illustrations。 It's a good message for kids who are struggling with distance from a loved one, but definitely has a self-published vibe。 Flag that there is reference to heaven and relatives who've passed away if that's relevant to you。 The author thanks God in the endnotes so it's definitely from a religious perspective but not overly heavy handed with it。 I think my 3 year old enjoyed it, but my only question was how exactly one feels the invisible string "tug right back" on their heart - is this something you're supposed to encourage kids they will actually feel or rather just something they know would happen。 Also the depictions of the kid's interests were very gendered - the girl wanted to be a ballerina and the boy flying in space or exploring。 。。。more

What a lovely thought。 Love connects you to everyone you love no matter how far away they。 So the world is criss-crossed with invisible strings connecting everyone to everyone else so no one is ever truly alone。 I liked that they included the 'love is stronger than anger' part so kids will know that just because someone is angry with you doesn't mean they don't love you anymore。 What a lovely thought。 Love connects you to everyone you love no matter how far away they。 So the world is criss-crossed with invisible strings connecting everyone to everyone else so no one is ever truly alone。 I liked that they included the 'love is stronger than anger' part so kids will know that just because someone is angry with you doesn't mean they don't love you anymore。 。。。more

The Invisible String is a very heartwarming children’s book written by Patrice Karst。 The story is about twins named Liza and Jeremy who get woken up in the night by a storm outside。 They go to their mom for comfort and that’s when she explains about the invisible string。 Liza and Jeremy ask their mom how far the string can go and challenge her with different scenarios, like if they were in the ocean, or space。 Their mom ensures them that no matter how far you are from those that you love, you a The Invisible String is a very heartwarming children’s book written by Patrice Karst。 The story is about twins named Liza and Jeremy who get woken up in the night by a storm outside。 They go to their mom for comfort and that’s when she explains about the invisible string。 Liza and Jeremy ask their mom how far the string can go and challenge her with different scenarios, like if they were in the ocean, or space。 Their mom ensures them that no matter how far you are from those that you love, you are always connected as long as you have love in your heart。 The illustrations are cute and each time the kids ask their mom if the string will connect them it shows an adventurous scene with the kids in a different place explore the world, the ocean, and space。 I love how this story brings comfort to it’s reader that they are never alone and that even when you are not close to those that you love doesn’t mean that the love isn’t there。 I also love how the invisible string ultimately connects everyone all over the world。 。。。more

The Invisible String is a great book to help ease the anxiousness of children with separation anxiety and/or grieving children。 I enjoyed this story because it is a mom talking to her children about how she is always there even if she isn't physically with them through the use of the "invisible string。" I see lots of students, especially in kindergarten, that experience separation anxiety in the beginning of the year。 They scream and fight again the staff trying to pry them off their parents or The Invisible String is a great book to help ease the anxiousness of children with separation anxiety and/or grieving children。 I enjoyed this story because it is a mom talking to her children about how she is always there even if she isn't physically with them through the use of the "invisible string。" I see lots of students, especially in kindergarten, that experience separation anxiety in the beginning of the year。 They scream and fight again the staff trying to pry them off their parents or guardian。 Some students might have trauma that has made it extremely hard for them to leave their parents for school, causing them lots of anxiety。 Some students may have never experienced being away from their parents, so school is their first instance of separation, again, causing lots of anxiety。 This would be a great book to read the beginning of the year to help students feel less anxious about being without their parents。I also like how it briefly touches on grief。 Jeremy, the little boy, asks his mother if his string is able to reach his uncle in heaven。 I have had many students over the years bring up the death of a loved one and those are tough conversations to have with a 5 year old。 I liked that this book used the invisible string to connect to loved ones who have passed away。 This is a great way to help young ones who quite do not understand death to heal and grieve。 This idea is a great self-management tool。 In the article, Using Children's Literature to Strengthen Social and Emotional Learning, states, there are five core competencies that serve to help students Social and Emotional wellbeing, with self-management being one of them。 "Self-management is the ability to take personal responsibility for one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors。" This "invisible string" can help students become responsible for coping with their feelings of being anxious or grieving。 。。。more

Two twins go to bed with a storm going on and they are afraid and run to Mom。 Mom explains to them about the invisible string that connects them always anywhere they are。 This string connects them not only to her but to anyone they love anywhere they are, even with a one page mention to someone who is in heaven。This is a good book for any child with separation anxiety or having to deal with missing someone they love。

Lovely idea of invisible string connecting us to the ones we love。 Useful for children’s separation anxiety whether dealing with a first day of school, an absent loved one or family member who has died。

When two kids are scared by a storm, they run to their mom for comfort。 She tells them that even if they are in different rooms or places, there's an invisible string of love that connects them。This is cute, and I can see how it would be helpful to reassure some kids。 I like the illustration style in this edition。 Recommended for kids with anxiety about separation from others。 When two kids are scared by a storm, they run to their mom for comfort。 She tells them that even if they are in different rooms or places, there's an invisible string of love that connects them。This is cute, and I can see how it would be helpful to reassure some kids。 I like the illustration style in this edition。 Recommended for kids with anxiety about separation from others。 。。。more

Not quiet what I was looking for, just the slightest mention of death with a question of if the invisible string of love could reach an uncle in heaven。 I’d think it would be more helpful for kids who are scared of being alone/have some separation anxiety issues rather than for dealing with the loss of a close family member, but it could also be helpful for starting the conversation without that focus on death。

Jen

Touching story that is perfect for children, youth, or adults。 Great as a gift。
