Summary

A funny and wise guide and workbook for conquering fears, from the existential to the everyday, and defeating the monster those fears can become: anxiety

This is a book about fear。 About how it works, how it takes hold over us, and how it dogs us from childhood (the monsters under the bed) to adulthood (careers, relationships, accidentally sending that risky text to the wrong person--all the things that make us want to bite our nails)。 But this is also a book about that monster our fear can warp into when it grows too powerful, a phenomenon we are all too familiar with and that more and more of us are struggling against: anxiety。

Author and illustrator Amalia Andrade had her own battle with anxiety, and not only did she make it out the other side, she learned sometimes it's the very thing that almost sinks you that can save you。 Through the lessons, exercises, and often hilarious personal stories Amalia shares in these pages, together you will learn how to make those feelings your friends and turn your fears into superpowers。

This was super cute and well done, granted not for someone who has been in therapy for years and has built a business around healing stress and trauma (different than fear, yes)。 But, it did some great digging into fear from angles I haven’t explored, particularly the types of fear, which I found very helpful。If you haven’t really looked at your fear, this is a nice start! I bought this because I’m literally a nail biter- it does not address that。 😉I give this 3 stars, but the illustrations and This was super cute and well done, granted not for someone who has been in therapy for years and has built a business around healing stress and trauma (different than fear, yes)。 But, it did some great digging into fear from angles I haven’t explored, particularly the types of fear, which I found very helpful。If you haven’t really looked at your fear, this is a nice start! This is a book that illustrates fear most beautifully。 Written funnily, but will be a useful guide to understand fear。 I enjoyed reading this book。 An ideal book to read for those bibiliophobics。 This book can be read without any fear or anxiety。 Worth reading。

"Almost all of our fears are preemptive reactions to something terrible happening based on negative experiences we’ve had in the past or on our lack of ability to control a situation。 Our fears exist more in our heads than they do outside of them。 Understanding them will always be a source of wisdom and power。 The only way out is through。” "Almost all of our fears are preemptive reactions to something terrible happening based on negative experiences we’ve had in the past or on our lack of ability to control a situation。 Our fears exist more in our heads than they do outside of them。 Understanding them will always be a source of wisdom and power。 The only way out is through。” 。。。more

I understood this book to be intended for people whom have never "worked" their fears, it's super basic and friendly。 It has exercises (as it's a workbook) and cute illustrations。 If you have previously worked with your therapist, this book might seem simple and not that useful。 Anyway, you'll find a couple of catchy phrases。 I understood this book to be intended for people whom have never "worked" their fears, it's super basic and friendly。 It has exercises (as it's a workbook) and cute illustrations。 If you have previously worked with your therapist, this book might seem simple and not that useful。 Anyway, you'll find a couple of catchy phrases。 。。。more

An incredible and down to earth way of looking at fear。 I found this book by chance and am so glad I picked it up and put my faith in the author。 If you’re afraid- read this book! Thank you to the author for finding the courage to write one of the best books I have ever read at a time when I really needed it。

I finished the last page of this book while listening to “Afraid” by DAY6’s album “The Book of Us: The Demon”, which is an album that got me through the 2020 COVID-19 quarantine in Panama while spending months not stepping outside my apartment。 Yes, this book allowed me to meet with the origins of my fears and while reading it I was listening to the playlist of the albums that got me through quarantine 。But the book。 It was marvellous。 I can’t believe I actually found a book about fears that cou I finished the last page of this book while listening to “Afraid” by DAY6’s album “The Book of Us: The Demon”, which is an album that got me through the 2020 COVID-19 quarantine in Panama while spending months not stepping outside my apartment。 Yes, this book allowed me to meet with the origins of my fears and while reading it I was listening to the playlist of the albums that got me through quarantine 。But the book。 It was marvellous。 I can’t believe I actually found a book about fears that could explain in the most caring way how to face my fears and deal with them in a gentle way。 The fact that it was written by a fellow Latina was also a big plus in how this was my first ever self-help book, and I decided to read it about fears。 Then being something I’ve try to fought during my short life。 I’m leaving this as a statement that this book is the first step in the road to deal with your fears in a gentle way。 Laugh about them, carry them wherever you go, but most importantly: Never let them take control and fool you into thinking that they are all you are。 Because as this book clearly states, you’re not made of fear。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Pienso que es una buena manera de entenderse mejor acerca de sus inseguridades y miedos como persona。 Me ayudaría a comprender situaciones que no comprendo y lo más importante a crecer como persona

I started reading this very late at night so I slept with this book half unfinished and I got nightmares! Two different scenarios!! Can you believe it? I dreamed my conference video got rejected and me device cracked (scary)! I was about to stop reading this because of the nightmares, but this book is so DARN CUTE AND AS A NAIL BITER I APPROVE! I love the visuals and that I got to read the happy ending :)

my extremely talented friend @Isa Corletto translated this delightful book! It is about fear and how to stop having so many! One fear will disappear for every copy of the book you buy!

I am experiencing severe fear right now。 The reason is rather ridiculous: I want to lose some weight and I overdid it。 I was ashamed and rather not to talk to anyone because I am afraid that people will treat it as showing off。 But after reading the book in roughly 1。5h, I gradually understand why and how to deal with it。 I feel better。 Since it's so short but effective, I'll give it a five。 I am experiencing severe fear right now。 The reason is rather ridiculous: I want to lose some weight and I overdid it。 I was ashamed and rather not to talk to anyone because I am afraid that people will treat it as showing off。 But after reading the book in roughly 1。5h, I gradually understand why and how to deal with it。 I feel better。 Since it's so short but effective, I'll give it a five。 。。。more
