What a good fun ride this series was。 Did not expect much but was pleasantly surprised。 Duggan made this work。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Conan mucking about in the present day MCU。 It shouldn't work。 But it does, and this wrap up to the series, as much as these things wrap up, is amazing。 It suffers from big idea we didn't really want to explore。 Spoiler alert。。。。Khulan Gath takes over the world and rules it for ages while Conan and Doom fight the good fight。 That takes up about two pages? Four? Than we're off to the big wrap up。 It's a huge What If? moment that gets short shrift, but I understand。 Still, that wrap up was worth i Conan mucking about in the present day MCU。 It shouldn't work。 But it does, and this wrap up to the series, as much as these things wrap up, is amazing。 It suffers from big idea we didn't really want to explore。 Spoiler alert。。。。Khulan Gath takes over the world and rules it for ages while Conan and Doom fight the good fight。 That takes up about two pages? I enjoyed ever single character in this series, as they threw in almost every character imaginable。 Hard to miss one’s favorite character, no matter how small the cameo, in this series。In my opinion the series started out extremely strong until the 4th volume。The conclusion seemed rushed and the characters seemed to be one of those ideas of “throw everyone in but the kitchen sink” except for the main characters that lasted through all 5 volumes。It was a decent ending。 Was it great? No。 But at le I enjoyed ever single character in this series, as they threw in almost every character imaginable。 Hard to miss one’s favorite character, no matter how small the cameo, in this series。In my opinion the series started out extremely strong until the 4th volume。The conclusion seemed rushed and the characters seemed to be one of those ideas of “throw everyone in but the kitchen sink” except for the main characters that lasted through all 5 volumes。It was a decent ending。 Was it great? No。 But at least, the ending tied up all the loose ends and reveled the moral of the series。People are stronger together than fighting alone。 Plus, the circumstances of a harsh youth can be dispelled with a little empathy and work。 One thing I forgot to write first, I really enjoyed the art。 The small subtle details were huge in their ability give more depth and further the study the story along。 。。。more

Conan Team-U- I mean, Savage Avengers comes to a conclusion as the entire Marvel Universe face off against the evil Kulan Gath for the last time。 But despite aid from Kang the Conqueror, this might be a battle that even Conan can't win。What a brilliant ending to a surprisingly solid book that I never expected to be even half as good as it was。 These final six issues bring the story full circle in every sense of the word, bringing back all of Conan's friends and frenemies from the last 20+ issues Conan Team-U- I mean, Savage Avengers comes to a conclusion as the entire Marvel Universe face off against the evil Kulan Gath for the last time。 But despite aid from Kang the Conqueror, this might be a battle that even Conan can't win。What a brilliant ending to a surprisingly solid book that I never expected to be even half as good as it was。 These final six issues bring the story full circle in every sense of the word, bringing back all of Conan's friends and frenemies from the last 20+ issues for one last hurrah。 It'd be easy to get lost in the slog of the time travel mechanics, but Gerry Duggan makes sure we know exactly what we need to know to get by and nothing more so that he can get back to the stabbing。 Even with the massively bloody final battle(s), the book comes to a surprisingly quiet and heartfelt conclusion。 It's a very sci-fi ending, but it's in line with the sword and sorcery roots of a purebred Conan book, with a little epilogue that keeps the door open for future stories in this vein (a new Savage Avengers book has already been announced)。On art for all six issues is series artist Patch Zircher, so this is consistent with the rest of the run - Zircher's visuals have always been impressive and this volume's no exception。Savage Avengers - the little book that stabbed its way into my heart。 I never thought I'd feel sad to see it end, and yet here we are。 。。。more

After a King In Black imposed lull, Savage Avengers roars to its finale。 Some incredible action, incredible character work and some of the most surprising twists I’ve seen in a Marvel comic in ages。 Thank you Gerry Duggan!

Man, this was just a really fun ride。 Corny, B-movie fun。
