Summary

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a new STEMinist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesis--with explosive results。

Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project--a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia--Marie would accept without hesitation。 Duh。 But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward。

Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way。 And sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab。 But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school--archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away。

Now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, and Bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle。 Perhaps it's her occipital cortex playing tricks on her, but Bee could swear she can see Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas。。。devouring her with those eyes。 And the possibilities have all her neurons firing。 But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there's only one question that matters: What will Bee Knigswasser do?

Thank you NetGalley & Berkley for the ARC。 I am really enjoying Hazelwoods writing style and the representation of women in STEM and some of the discrimination they face。 I thought I knew where this enemies to lovers story was going but the ending (climax) really did surprise me。

What an absolute delight。I absolutely love the way this author writes characters, the male characters are always men I feel I need in my life and the woman are so relatable。 The chemistry is always absolutely spot on to, I can almost feel the pages sizzling!!My only small criticism is that it was so obvious where this was going, as in I knew from 8% exactly how this was going to play out and I was right but I didn’t mind because the characters were so well written and the story was fun。

Ali Hazelwood has done it again。 Both this and the Love Hypothesis just suck you in and I’m obsessed with it all。 ALL OF IT! It has some of my favorite romance tropes but this one takes place at NASA!

Hazelwood is a force to be reckoned with, I’ll tell you that much。 I was hooked from the beginning and I found myself falling for these characters and their story as much as they were falling for each other。 This author is quickly becoming one of my Must Reads。

I can't believe I am rating my most anticipated release of 2022 less than five stars。 Here are some spoiler-free reasons why I did not have a good time:- Harry Potter references- gaslighting- I did not vibe with Levi at all- WTF was that ending???Anyways, I'm so sad that I might reread The Love Hypothesis for the 3rd time because it's my favourite book and makes me feel something。 I can't believe I am rating my most anticipated release of 2022 less than five stars。 Here are some spoiler-free reasons why I did not have a good time:- Harry Potter references- gaslighting- I did not vibe with Levi at all- WTF was that ending???Anyways, I'm so sad that I might reread The Love Hypothesis for the 3rd time because it's my favourite book and makes me feel something。 。。。more

I KNOW that I am not the only woman who finds it incredibly cringey when sex scenes needlessly point out how big a dude’s junk is。 I mean idk about anyone else but this just doesn’t need to be a description I need bc I don’t default imagine “yeah this dude has a tiny dick” in a romance novel。 No hate to guys who do ofc bc ya’know。 Genetics。 But I’m pretty sure most women suspend IRL genetic bits in romance books。 If you leave it out I can guarantee the reader is imagining a decent sized dick or I KNOW that I am not the only woman who finds it incredibly cringey when sex scenes needlessly point out how big a dude’s junk is。 I mean idk about anyone else but this just doesn’t need to be a description I need bc I don’t default imagine “yeah this dude has a tiny dick” in a romance novel。 No hate to guys who do ofc bc ya’know。 Genetics。 But I’m pretty sure most women suspend IRL genetic bits in romance books。 If you leave it out I can guarantee the reader is imagining a decent sized dick or whatever sized dick doesn’t frighten them。 Just saying。I thought this was fine。 I definitely didn’t love it as the first book and it’s not that I had high expectations。 This could’ve been my first Ali Hazelwood book and I would still think it was okay。I wasn’t overly invested in the characters or their chemistry。 There were bits of dialogue I really thought was cute and funny but not enough to carry the book for me。My favorite part in all honesty is probably not something others might care about but the misogyny in STEM rep was really really good。 It’s probably the thing I loved most。 And it’s because I got to work through my own experiences and trauma of having to deal with horrifying misogyny in academia itself。 This felt real and personal and I honestly would read all Hazelwood’s book if she only write fictional academia books。 。。。more

Such a fun, light-hearted read。 This rom-com had a little more depth & some cool science in it。 Despite the main characters both being geniuses they lack a certain ability to interact with each other & have a history of misread cues & interactions。 Throw in some difficult family history for one character & bad past relationships for the other & you have a sticky situation they have to work to unravel。 Some mysterious sabotage at work on their important & costly project creates a good plotline。

I completely completely adored this book。 I inhaled it and resented anything took me away from it。 It’s smart, sexy, sassy and funny。 Ali Hazelwood’s writing is now my catnip。

I read this book in 1 sitting because I could not put it down (thank you so much for the eARC!)。 I loved the relationship between Bee and Levi, the fun references, and the side characters。 The whole story was fun from beginning to end and honestly?? I might just start reading it again。

I'm annoyed。 And the one in Stuck with You is the same but with blond hair (gasp!)Like okay maybe that's what you're attracted to, author, but get over it。 We don't care about you, we care about your MC。 MCs that are obviously all tiny as hell btw。I know it's hard to avoid miscommunication in contemporary romance, but it's not THAT hard。 This book is full of it。 And it's quite annoying。 When most of your conflict is built on miscommunication, it gets frustrating。I can't say much without spoiling, but it's like she'll do everything she can to make the characters avoid telling each other something important, but it's just not credible。 And she stretches it for far too long。 And not just for one thing, but several。 If it hadn't been painfully obvious since page one, it wouldn't be as frustrating, but it is, so, epic UGH。 All in all, I did enjoy this book, and I do think people should read it and will enjoy it, but I hope the author will put more effort into writing something different, and also stop being lazy with the miscommunication。 。。。more

Firstly I want to REALLY thank Netgalley and the publishers for the e-arc 😍🥰I LOVED this book!! Like REALLY REALLY loved this book。 I thought I loved The Love Hypothesis, but I only had lukewarm feelings compared to Love on the Brain!! 😍😍Bee is such a likeable character, she’s clever, loving and I really feel so much for her。 Despite her scattered upbringing she’s grown to be a woman who wants to settle and that loves her job and her sister more than anything。 Sure, she has some issues, but that Firstly I want to REALLY thank Netgalley and the publishers for the e-arc 😍🥰I LOVED this book!! I swear I had that weird twinge in my chest through most of this book and I cried A LOT (good tears and bad tears)。 This book is perfect。I read this book in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for sure!! 。。。more

Wow。 I haven’t read a book for a while that has me thinking about it 24/7 and I’d forgotten how much I love it。 I didn’t know what to expect when starting this book。 After LOVING The Love Hypotheses I had high hopes but and high expectations。 Let’s just say that anything I could have hoped for for was reached! What a fun sophomore follow-up from Ali Hazelwood! I know there are always concerns whenever debut authors have such smashingly successful first books, and if you liked The Love Hypothesis, there's a fair chance you'll enjoy this one too。The biggest strength of this book could also be its biggest weakness: It's very similar to Hazelwood's first book。 I mean that in terms of character archetypes, (i。e。 an adorkable and smart woman in STEM who falls for a mysterious, broody man), some of the trope What a fun sophomore follow-up from Ali Hazelwood! No! It just depends on what you want out of your romances。 I absolutely have authors who produce similar work every time they publish a new book, and that's one of the things I love about them: I know what I'm going to get。I don't want to speculate too much about if Hazelwood will be the same way given that this is only her second full-length novel (in addition to those short stories she produced), so we'll see what's up next! Still, I had a fun time with this one, and Ali Hazelwood's got a fresh writing voice in the genre。 I will say I wish there was a little less emphasis on dudes having cosmically massive packages, but that's just a personal preference。Content warning: Infidelity, light violence, misogyny 。。。more

In this book, it kinda reminded me of The Princess Diaries, one of my favorite book series。 And for this book, it’s easy to read quickly even though the book is fairly long。 。LEVI WARD>ADAM CARLSEN。 I REPEAT, LEVI WARD>ADAM CARLSEN。 Although I don’t like when a book tries to be enemies to lovers when it obviously isn’t that way, seeing Levi so endlessly in love with Bee while Bee thought he hated her is the best of this trope I have ever read。 It was kind of slow burn but not too slow, which was perfect for me。 There was a little bit of dramatic irony about them too; the reader knows something Bee doesn’t, and it killed me but made me want to keep reading at the same time。 He is so compassionate and is sort of a mix of Adam Carlsen and Aaron Warner, two amazing book boyfriends。 I know that y’all will love their relationship and how it develops!。It’s not a full five stars (although it’s very very close) because it started off a little bit slow。 Just a little。 In fact, it started off just as slow as The Love Hypothesis for me。 But anything I give 4。5-5 are always my absolute faves, and this is definitely no exception!! This surpassed The Love Hypothesis for me!。Rating: 🤩🤩🤩🤩💫(4。75/5 wows) 。。。more

Received as an eARC from NetGalleyWhat can I say, Ali Hazelwood has done it again。 She has created a strong woman in STEM who knows what she wants and is taking life by the horns。Love on the Brain is about Bee Königswasser, and NASA has offered her a co-lead position on a neuroengineering project。 The only problem? So so good。 I loved this more than The Love Hypothesis and I LOVED that book。 Here we have enemies to lovers, pining, and a You’ve Got Mail esque subplot, not to mention the kickass STEMinists。 If that’s not the perfect combination, I don’t know what is。 There was one teeny tiny all the way from left field random thing that came about during the end conflict that I could do without, but it is barely worth mentioning。 Fingers crossed BOTM makes this a pick release month 🤞🏻*thank you to Edelweiss So so good。 I loved this more than The Love Hypothesis and I LOVED that book。 Here we have enemies to lovers, pining, and a You’ve Got Mail esque subplot, not to mention the kickass STEMinists。 If that’s not the perfect combination, I don’t know what is。 There was one teeny tiny all the way from left field random thing that came about during the end conflict that I could do without, but it is barely worth mentioning。 Fingers crossed BOTM makes this a pick release month 🤞🏻*thank you to Edelweiss for the chance to read early* 。。。more

I should start by saying that I really liked this book and would have loved it if I hadn't read love hypothesis。 I love specific tropes but this book is basically a copy paste with characters names and like career changes at most。 The same exact problems and hurdles and even the love interest was the same timeline/style。 Again super adorable book but maybe too soon after love hypothesis to give us such a similar theme。 Honestly will continue reading Ali's books。 I should start by saying that I really liked this book and would have loved it if I hadn't read love hypothesis。 I love specific tropes but this book is basically a copy paste with characters names and like career changes at most。 The same exact problems and hurdles and even the love interest was the same timeline/style。 Again super adorable book but maybe too soon after love hypothesis to give us such a similar theme。 Honestly will continue reading Ali's books。 。。。more

If you enjoyed Adam in The Love Hypothesis, you will love Levi。 They are one and the same。 Love a big, tall, tree of a man, love Adam Driver, no complaints about his character or his arc at all, beyond the fact that I could have done with more of him in general。 Bee and her lab assistant both just had so much going on with their characters and I liked very little of either of them。Being in Bee's head where everything is "Handsome Guy TM" this and "I'm a tiny vegan with a septum piercing and dyed hair and also happen to be a mid-twenties neuroscience genius who ALSO secretly runs a viral Twitter account and has a quirky fainting illness" that was too much too frequently。 I didn't like it in there。 Once she started regularly interacting with Levi, I thought her inner voice was much more enjoyable。Ultimately, this book wasn't for me。 I don't know that I would have continued past the first few chapters if this hadn't been an ARC, but I am glad I persevered since I thought the book improved around the 50-60% mark and I think that Ali Hazelwood writes killer sex scenes。 All sex scenes and romantic speeches get a 5/5 star rating from me。 。。。more
