Summary

There's more to my brother's murder than I realised。。。

Shadows in the halls, mysteries lurking around every corner。

Whoever killed him is covering their tracks well。

And now I'm walking a dangerous line between getting close to the four kings for information and wanting to crawl deeper under their skin for my own desires。

I can't trust anyone。

I can't let my guard down。

And I must keep the urges of my body separate from my heart。

But I'm starting to break all of my own rules。

I just hope I'm not falling for my brother's killer。

What happened between Gareth and Cindy? What the hell did Gabriel do to Gareth that was so bad if he wasn’t the one who killed him? Did Leo ever find out that Gareth was the one that stole and sold his crystal? Did Dante and Ryder find out that Gareth was working for both of them at the same time? And it’s maybe just me, but something about Titan feels a bit…iffy to me。 Maybe just because he was so helpful and understanding towards Elise when she told him what happened in the woods。 The dudes just giving me a feeling。 I’ve seen way too many movies and read way too many books to not be suspicious of the guy who’s so eager to help and investigate。 He seems like the kinda guy who’d offer to investigate just so Elise would drop it when he told her the investigation didn’t find anything。 Maybe I’m wrong。Ryder was still a massive pain in my ass in this book。 The whole “I only feel just and pain” bullshit was toned down a little more in this book which I appreciated but hes still just a touch on the wrong side of asshole-ness for my liking。 But Leon!!!! He was giving me major Seth vibes in the later ZA books and like Seth is quickly becoming one of my favourite characters。 The thing I’m the most interested in, however, is finding out how the hell Gabriel goes from how he is now to the sunshine and rainbows Gabriel we meet and love in Zodiac Academy。 There are still three books left but that’s one hell of a personality change to get through。 It was good to see that the authors kept consistency from the first book in terms of Elises investigation kills, because like in the first book, she was a fucking shit investigator。 The only thing she found out was that Nightshade is shady。 The rest of the book she was flirting with the four guys or bitching about how alone she was。 This book is sold as a reverse harem and a crime investigation, I’ve yet to see the latter。At the end of the first book I was 100% rooting for Elise and Gabriel to end up together but by the end of this book, I think it’s a tie between Leo and Dante。 They are the only two that are consistent in how they treat Elise。 Gabriel and Ryder run too hot and cold for me。 I don’t know how the girl puts up with it。Also very interested to see how things play out between Ryder and Dante, with Ryder admitting he came to the club to kill Felix for hiring him to kill Dante。 Will they end up friends, or at least allies at some point? I need some sort of redemption arc for Ryder before I can get behind him and Elise being together。 。。。more

This is the second book in the series, I'm not a huge fan of reverse haram, but still enjoying this。 Elise was still trying to find out who killed her brother。 I felt that the story was a little slow and it was more about the connection she had with the four Kings。 I still thought she was an amazing character, I loved how she took everything in and fought for herself。 I loved the beating Cindy Lou got 😂。 I loved all the four Kings, Leon was so sweet always making Elise smile。 Ryder and Dante's d This is the second book in the series, I'm not a huge fan of reverse haram, but still enjoying this。 Elise was still trying to find out who killed her brother。 I felt that the story was a little slow and it was more about the connection she had with the four Kings。 I still thought she was an amazing character, I loved how she took everything in and fought for herself。 I loved the beating Cindy Lou got 😂。 I loved all the four Kings, Leon was so sweet always making Elise smile。 Ryder and Dante's deal was pretty hilarious 😂。 I'm a little biased I love Gabriel because of ZA, I loved how he wanted to help Elise find out who killed her brother。 Overall I would give this 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5。 I want to know more about how the Kings were involved, if they were involved in the death of Gareth。 At times I felt Elise didn't try hard enough, but I guess she's trying to get close to the King's for a reason。  I'm looking forward to the next book, I've heard Lance Orion makes an appearance 😍, cannot wait for that 😂。 。。。more

Aaah。 I'm in love with four men! On top of the other 5 men I'm in love with from Zodiac Academy。This series is by no means great writing, but it's extremely entertaining and very addictive。 The characters are loveable and completely different from eachother with their own traumas and motives which I love!Onto book 3 right now! 4。75 stars- Caroline and Susanne know how to make you feel like you are part of a story。 Sometimes when reading fantasy series I find it takes a while to feel like I am connected to the characters, but not with anything that these authors right。 I am obsessed with every character。 Elise is such an independent female MC and I love how she is unapologetically herself。 I am so excited to continue along with these series。The ONLY reason this is not a 5 star book is because I personally lost interest 4。75 stars- Caroline and Susanne know how to make you feel like you are part of a story。 Sometimes when reading fantasy series I find it takes a while to feel like I am connected to the characters, but not with anything that these authors right。 I am obsessed with every character。 Elise is such an independent female MC and I love how she is unapologetically herself。 I am so excited to continue along with these series。The ONLY reason this is not a 5 star book is because I personally lost interest every time it was a Gareth POV chapter。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I’m enjoying these books but I feel like the story is moving so slowly。 Ironically there’s so much from Gareth’s point of view that we have no time to learn anything more about how he died, they just seem to be moving along so slowly。 I would even argue that we aren’t any further forward with finding out what happened or even all that much more about any of the characters after this book! Hopefully a bit more happens and we find out more in the next one

Still love it。 These two just never disappoint do they? I didn’t think I could love anything more than ZA but here we are。 Everything about this series is perfect。 Love a good murder mystery。 & even though the spice is limited for the most part the steam is the best alternative。

“I’d catch you if you fell,” I said quietly。“I know,” she said, her fingers curling around the edge of the bricks。 “But I won’t fall。”“Even angels fall,” I pointed out, quoting her tattoo。“Lucky I’m no angel then,” she said stiffly。

hot fire。do you like: sex? magic? not having to choose between book boyfriends?this is the series for you。leon is the frontrunner for king of my heart。 the most shocking part of all of this is? how genuinely FUNNY these books are。 i’m laughing my way through this and enjoying every second of it。

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end。 I’m definitely curious to see what will happen next。 The only thing that I find a bit annoying is Elise’s equal attraction to all the Kings。 I wish she would just pick one guy。 I guess this wouldn’t be a reverse harem otherwise。 I do like how they all heal each other in some way though。 I also liked the insight to Gareth’e plans leading up to his death。 I look forward to the next book and further insight This book helped bring me out of a reading slump! If this is your favorite series, please don't read this。 I can be harsh。Well。。。 it took me an entire month to get through this thing。 I'm not really connecting to it the way I'd like。 So many people said they enjoyed this series more than ZA but it's not even close for me。 I will say it was FINE。 But clearly not good enough to keep my attention for long periods of time。I was not a fan of the gang wars storyline from the very beginning。 That sentiment still stands。 Regardless book 2 doesn't focus If this is your favorite series, please don't read this。 I can be harsh。Well。。。 it took me an entire month to get through this thing。 I'm not really connecting to it the way I'd like。 So many people said they enjoyed this series more than ZA but it's not even close for me。 I will say it was FINE。 But clearly not good enough to keep my attention for long periods of time。I was not a fan of the gang wars storyline from the very beginning。 That sentiment still stands。 Regardless book 2 doesn't focus on that nearly as much, yet still fell short for me。 & I think Elise is the problem。Elise: is a BORING HEROINE。 She's good at pretty much everything for no reason。 Every, (and I mean every) man she walks by drools over her instantly。 She wants to avenge her brother's murder & fuck all of her top murder suspects in the process。 That's the extent of her character depth。 So, herein lies the problem。。 I don't care about Gareth or her revenge plot because despite her harping on it every other page she doesn't really care either。 When she's actively fucking the 4 dudes who she suspects of killing her brother the pain/grief becomes unbelievable and my sympathy for her is null/void。 It would be more believable to me if she were playing these men, outsmarting them, and manipulating their emotions for the purpose of gaining intel, but that's just not what's happening。 The men: Albeit far more interesting and layered characters than Elise herself, I still find them to be overhyped & cringe MOST of the time。 Ryder。 Hot & mysterious? Sure。 But every time this man talks about his two emotions of "pain & lust" I get the ick。 That being said, he APPEARS to have an interesting backstory in the works so I haven't lost ALL hope。 Definitely not the murderer。 Lowest on my suspect list #4。Leon。 Everyone raves about this character because he's SO FUNNY。 I haven't seen it yet。 IMO he *tries* to be funny, but most of his jokes fall flat。 I think I'm just disappointed because where I found ZA to actually be LOL funny, Leon has yet to perform at the same level。 To this point, there's been nothing substantially unlikable about him as a character, which leads me to believe he's the most likely to be Gareth's actual murderer。 In terms, he's the one king you'd least expect。 Therefore, he's the #1 suspect。Dante。 I can't stand the Faetalian。 I'm getting Diego vibes and it's really turning me off。 Also, this is more of a critique on the authors than the character, but half of the Italian spoken in this book is left untranslated。 I'm sorry, but I don't know what the hell he's talking about half the time & neither does Elise。 Despite all of that, I do enjoy Dante MOST of the time。 There's a moral greyness to his character, which I typically enjoy。 He's got bad boy energy while still being self aware enough to not cross the cringe line that Ryder just loves to walk on。 Suspect #3。Gabriel。 Absolutely still my favorite。 If I look at this series as more of a Gabriel origin story than an Elise love story it's far more tolerable。 Another morally grey character。 Despite me already knowing him from the future (ZA) I still don't really know what this guy is up to and there's an intrigue that I wasn't expecting。 Unlike the other characters the pending mating bond gives me a believable explanation for his uncanny obsession with Elise。 Something majorly lacking for the other kings。 Murder suspect #2。 He's straight up said he did not murder Gareth and has vowed to help find the true killer。 However, it would make good conflict for the impending mating bond because right now Elise just finds him to be moody and confusing。 Surely something more intense happens later on。 Gareth。 The。 Story。 Moves。 So。 Slow。 I'm skimming most of his POV at this point。 Especially knowing this character is already dead why would I bother getting invested? We're being led to believe one of the 4 kings killed him so that is what I'm basing my predictions on。 However, I feel like the twist is going to be that none of them actually did it。 Somewhere, somehow there will be an unknown 5th king who killed him。 Dante's uncle perhaps? Honestly, I don't care。 Even if one of the kings killed him it's going to change my opinion of that character about 0%。 。。。more

Some questions were answered but others were left open in this second installment。 But things are starting by to heat up between the men and Elise, so time will tell for sure on how her relationships go。 She keeps digging into her brothers past only to find more questions。

Although I am still enjoying this series, I can't say that I am chomping at the bit to get into the next book (likely because I am still reeling from CC2)。 There is a lot of excitement and some really excellent character development going on but I can't say I have lost myself into the series (yet!)。 Although I am still enjoying this series, I can't say that I am chomping at the bit to get into the next book (likely because I am still reeling from CC2)。 There is a lot of excitement and some really excellent character development going on but I can't say I have lost myself into the series (yet!)。 。。。more

Where the first book was informative, this one is intriguing。 I have so many theories and I cannot wait to see how they play out。 There’s a war starting。 And the streets will run red with blood before it’s won。 。。。more
