Summary

The USA Today bestselling author of The Worst Best Man is back with another hilarious rom-com about two strangers who get trapped in a lie and have to fake date their way out of it。。。

Just weeks away from ditching DC for greener pastures, Solange Pereira is roped into helping her wedding planner cousin on a random couple’s big day。 It’s an easy gig。。。 until she stumbles upon a situation that convinces her the pair isn’t meant to be。 What’s a true-blue romantic to do? Crash the wedding, of course。 And ensure the unsuspecting groom doesn’t make the biggest mistake of his life。

Dean Chapman had his future all mapped out。 He was about to check off “start a family” and on track to “make partner” when his modern day marriage of convenience went up in smoke。 Then he learns he might not land an assignment that could be his ticket to a promotion unless he has a significant other and, in a moment of panic, Dean claims to be in love with the woman who crashed his wedding。 Oops。

Now Dean has a whole new item on his to-do list: beg Solange to be his pretend girlfriend。 Solange feels a tiny bit bad about ruining Dean’s wedding, so she agrees to play along。 Yet as they fake-date their way around town, what started as a performance for Dean’s colleagues turns into a connection that neither he nor Solange can deny。 Their entire romance is a sham。。。 there’s no way these polar opposites could fall in love for real, right?

I’m trying to be very cool about this but I don’t think that’s going to happen。 I know I sound dramatic when I say this but I don’t care。 We don’t deserve this book or the incredible talent of Mia Sosa。 The Wedding Crasher was everything! I really enjoyed this contemporary fake dating romance set in and around Washington DC。 The Wedding Crasher is Mia Sosa’s follow up to The Worst Best Man。Solange Pereira agrees to help her cousin at a wedding and inadvertently becomes the main attraction when she overhears the bride profess their love to a man who is not the groom。 Dean isn’t heartbroken about being left at the alter。 It’s disappointing though。 He had hoped to get life partner ticked off his to-do list, but he wasn’t in love。 De I really enjoyed this contemporary fake dating romance set in and around Washington DC。 The Wedding Crasher is Mia Sosa’s follow up to The Worst Best Man。Solange Pereira agrees to help her cousin at a wedding and inadvertently becomes the main attraction when she overhears the bride profess their love to a man who is not the groom。 Dean isn’t heartbroken about being left at the alter。 It’s disappointing though。 He had hoped to get life partner ticked off his to-do list, but he wasn’t in love。 Dean knows love exists and wants nothing to do with it。 Solange knows some people play at love and she only wants someone who will love her the way she deserves。After some classic rom-com shenanigans, Dean and Solange enter into a fake dating arrangement so that he can woo a promising attorney to his law firm and strengthen his shot at partnership (also on the to-do list)。 Naturally the fake dating gets out of control with part of her family in on it, and part being hoodwinked。 While Dean is trying to keep his life plan on track, Solange is trying to figure out what’s net for her professionally。A common complaint in rom-coms is that the whole plot could have been solved with a conversation。 Solange and Dean have many conversations about what they want and why the things they want for themselves make a long term relationship between them impossible。 The problem isn’t communication between them, but the defenses they’ve built to avoid future hurt。 The two of them are lovely together。 My frustration was never about their communication, and always about their failure to recognize that they had met the person that would change their life for the better。I love the way Mia Sosa shows off Washington DC in a way that makes you believe the characters really live there。 My thighs were screaming when they walked up 13th St NW from U Street to Columbia Heights。 I think that’s the steepest hill in DC。 Solange and Dean don’t turn around to admire the view from the top because they’ve seen it a hundred times。Content notes: watching public sex, office sabotage and toxic work environment, absent fathers, drinking, a nice woman married to an awful man, discussion of evictions。I received this as an advance reader copy from Avon and Harper Voyager via NetGalley。 My opinions are my own。 。。。more

this book started off SO good, but somehow fell a bit flat for me once i got to the halfway mark。 i did receive this as an ARC pretty early on and wonder if the finished copy might tie together some of the problems i have with the plot and pacing。 i really did have high expectations considering how much i absolutely loved The Worst Best Man by this author, so overall i’m kind of sad i didn’t enjoy this book as much as i thought i was going to in the end

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon publishing for this ARC。This book follows Dean and Solange。 Solange crashes his wedding (he didn't love the girl and the girl didn't love him, so nbd)。 But then he gets caught up in a bid for partner at his law firm that rides on him showing a woman and her girlfriend a good time in DC and he insists he has a new girlfriend–Solange。 Solange goes along with the scheme because she figures she owes him and then he pretends to be her boyfriend for her out of town family。 Thanks to NetGalley and Avon publishing for this ARC。This book follows Dean and Solange。 Solange crashes his wedding (he didn't love the girl and the girl didn't love him, so nbd)。 But then he gets caught up in a bid for partner at his law firm that rides on him showing a woman and her girlfriend a good time in DC and he insists he has a new girlfriend–Solange。 Solange goes along with the scheme because she figures she owes him and then he pretends to be her boyfriend for her out of town family。Obviously, their fake dating turns to real feelings really fast。 Here's the thing, this book is fun but it's not GREAT。 Their relationship and draw to each other doesn't make a lot of sense。 It's an opposites attract kind of book, which is fine, but there is such a thing as TOO opposite。 The biggest issue is that they really have very little in common AND they have opposite personalities。 She doesn't want to fall in love because she's worried it will be a mistake and ruin her life, he doesn't want to fall in love because he doesn't want to be left behind and used。He understands why she is hesitant, but honestly Solange kind of sucks。 She refuses to understand why he has a hard time admitting his feelings for her even though he's quite clear (and so is his mother) about why he craves stability。 Solange knows she isn't super stable and for most of the book she doesn't want to be and then she takes issue with Dean letting her go because she can't offer him stability。 Her whole reaction is so over the top and kind of mean, she makes no attempt to really understand why he wants stability nor does she (until much later) make the adult decision to finally let herself be stable。It's just a case of the misfits。 But makes it hard to really love this book because you honestly don't really want them to be together。–DiAngelea Millar 。。。more

I absolutely adored this romantic comedy。 Solange and Dean were the “best friend with a bottle of wine on the couch in our pajamas” for me the last few weeks! Sosa wrote a romantic comedy with a sophisticated edge on fake-dating。 Her supporting characters had depth and insight to offer without being cheesy or taking away from the actual romance of the story。 What separates Mia from the rest is her ability in ‘pen-to-papering’ hilarity。 I am not one who ever really laughs in romantic comedys alth I absolutely adored this romantic comedy。 Solange and Dean were the “best friend with a bottle of wine on the couch in our pajamas” for me the last few weeks! 🌶🌶🌶/5I really enjoyed reading The Wedding Crasher。 One thing I really love to see is a romance novel where the main conflict isn’t some kind of toxic relationship trait that anyone with sense can see it going to continue to be a problem, even after the main characters figure themselves out。 Dean and Solange definitely have to work on themselves to realize what they want, but their communication is always very up front with what they are feeling in the moment, and that is refreshing。As a DC resid 🌶🌶🌶/5I really enjoyed reading The Wedding Crasher。 One thing I really love to see is a romance novel where the main conflict isn’t some kind of toxic relationship trait that anyone with sense can see it going to continue to be a problem, even after the main characters figure themselves out。 Dean and Solange definitely have to work on themselves to realize what they want, but their communication is always very up front with what they are feeling in the moment, and that is refreshing。As a DC resident, and a District local since 2017, I was enchanted to read a book rooted so firmly in the DMV。 The fact that Mia Sosa lives in the area screams off the page with every DC hot spot and cross street。 I didn’t know I was getting into a book about a DC lawyer when I started reading, so I was delighted to see little references to Georgetown Law, my own alma mater in Dean’s pro Bono work。 (Although Dean’s life at his firm is not quite what I’m hoping for with my career。)I also loved getting to know some of Solange’s family。 I wish I could pay a visit to Rio de Wheaton! All in all, I would definitely recommend The Wedding Crasher to anyone who reads romance。 It has surprising moments, sweet moments, steamy moments, and heartstrings-tugging moments, and what more could you want? Also, I think I kind of want to be Mia Sosa when I grow up—a Yale Law grad who worked in media law and now writes books? Basically my dream career path (even though my degree came from the bottom of the T14 instead of the top)。 😉Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon/Harper for the ARC in exchange for my honest review! 。。。more

The Wedding CrasherMia SosaRomance320 pagesMy rating: ⭐️⭐️💫Thank you to NetGalley + Avon for the eARC in exchange for my honest review! This book started off so strong for me - I liked both the MCs, thought their characters individually were well-developed, their banter was great and the premise was so promising。 But somewhere around the 40-50% mark, things really just fell off the rails。 I am all for being able to suspend disbelief in return for a great story, but some of the plot points were ju The Wedding CrasherMia SosaRomance320 pagesMy rating: ⭐️⭐️💫Thank you to NetGalley + Avon for the eARC in exchange for my honest review! This book started off so strong for me - I liked both the MCs, thought their characters individually were well-developed, their banter was great and the premise was so promising。 But somewhere around the 40-50% mark, things really just fell off the rails。 I am all for being able to suspend disbelief in return for a great story, but some of the plot points were just waaaaay out there, and for seemingly no reason other than to just shock the reader。 I also felt that the witty banter in the beginning became quite stilted in the second half of the book。 And I love a good fake dating trope as much as the next bookstagrammer, but this book took it too far。 A really, really promising story, but was not well-executed, imo。💒 Dual POV💒 Open door romance💒 Fake dating💒 Witty banter (in the beginning)💒 Explores the paths we choose to take in life + parent/child relationships💒 LGBTQ+ rep💒 Epilogue#caitsquietplacereviews #caitsquietplace #cqpromances 。。。more

I received this as an ARC through NetGalley。This book was everything I hoped it would be and more! Solange is such a badass。 She is smart, witty, and can hold her own。 She is such a good mentor for the GED students she teaches, always willing to do whatever she can for them。 And Dean, he is such an amazing person and great partner for Solange。 He is driven, kind, and caring。 He does many ProBono cases even though it does not bring any money in。 Together, their chemistry is electric。 They are witty and flirty even though neither of them want to fall in love。 This book had me laughing out loud and had me blushing, the steam is there。 This was such a great follow up book after The Worst Best-Man, I loved getting to know more about Dean and meeting Solange。 Learning more about Brazilian culture was such an added bonus, specifically the food, I now desperately want to take a trip to Brazil。 。。。more

Overall I’d recommend this one to anyone who would like to have a light fun read。 It comes out on April 5th and is currently available for preorder。 。。。more

Thank you NETGALLEY and Avon publishing for an eArc of this book! An AMAZING sequel to The Worst Best Man。 The Wedding Crasher follows Solange (Lina’s cousin) and Dean (Max’s best friend)。 They hit it off in the most unbelievable way and everything just stems from there。 A beautiful romance novel filled with tons of Afro-Brazilian culture。 Love love love this book。 Dean is such an amazing fictional boyfriend and the epilogue is to die for!!!

3。5 stars。 I received this book for free though a giveaway。 Overall, this was a really enjoyable and FUNNY book。 The characters were super lovable and good people (obviously not real people but they were good people)。 The main issue and cause for annoyance that I have is that Solange and Dean sometimes spoke like they were orating a very overacted play (“You see, blah blah blah”) and it came off very disingenuous and pretentious。 It kept happening and kept pulling me out of the zone, which was f 3。5 stars。 I received this book for free though a giveaway。 Overall, this was a really enjoyable and FUNNY book。 The characters were super lovable and good people (obviously not real people but they were good people)。 The main issue and cause for annoyance that I have is that Solange and Dean sometimes spoke like they were orating a very overacted play (“You see, blah blah blah”) and it came off very disingenuous and pretentious。 It kept happening and kept pulling me out of the zone, which was frustrating。Still enjoyed it, would still recommend it。 That part in the Acknowledgment section though about not being able to predict what the world will be like when this comes out [next month] - nailed it。 。。。more
