Summary

There is a curse on her world。
A game。
Full of sin。 Full of chaos。 Full of terror。
Gluttony。
Envy。
Wrath。
Pride。
Sloth。
Greed。
Lust。
For two hundred years, the game of the Sins has leashed a rope around the city of Calesal, tugging for more candidates to bloowswear themselves for the price of redemption。 After all that time, not a single person has ever ventured through all seven worlds—seven sins—and come out alive。 The reward for winning? Breaking the curse that has bound their world。
Violet's brother was sentenced to the game two years ago。 The second anniversary of his lethal exile looms over her head, and by searing fate, Violet is bloodsworn into the game on a quest to find him and bring him home。
One problem: the candidates are murderers, thieves, and a notorious gang leader with his sights set on her。 The second: The Sins are not at all what they seem to be。
Blood will awaken at its call。
Behold, the Sins。

‘Behold the Sins’ is a book that will have you hooked。 While it is slow to start, once Violet enters the Sins, things start going。 Serrin does an amazing job at conveying what is happening during Violets hellish adventure through the world of the sins, while also showing what is happening in Calesal。 She builds each world so vividly that it was easy to imagine what the scenery is like。 I truly think she has the potential to become an amazing fantasy writer and I can’t wait to see what book 2 is ‘Behold the Sins’ is a book that will have you hooked。 While it is slow to start, once Violet enters the Sins, things start going。 Serrin does an amazing job at conveying what is happening during Violets hellish adventure through the world of the sins, while also showing what is happening in Calesal。 She builds each world so vividly that it was easy to imagine what the scenery is like。 I truly think she has the potential to become an amazing fantasy writer and I can’t wait to see what book 2 is all about。 。。。more

*I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review* 3。5 stars First, I want to say that this author had a huge mountain to climb when she took on the world building in this novel。 Not only is there world building in the main world, but world building in multiple worlds that our heroine needs to fight her way through。 I thought the author did an amazing job with the worlds。 I enjoyed the world building style she employed。 Second, I really enjoyed the characters。 Violet is a grea *I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review* 3。5 stars First, I want to say that this author had a huge mountain to climb when she took on the world building in this novel。 Not only is there world building in the main world, but world building in multiple worlds that our heroine needs to fight her way through。 I thought the author did an amazing job with the worlds。 I enjoyed the world building style she employed。 Second, I really enjoyed the characters。 Violet is a great character to root for, especially when you learn her background。 And Jack Marin? Swoon。 I loved the banter。 My main negative is that I felt like there should be more at certain points in the book。 I needed a better reason for why certain things happened。 I felt like that would help round out the characters a bit better。 I also felt at times that certain parts of the book could’ve been left out because it didn’t add much to the overall plot。 This is already going to be a hefty book give the enormous undertaking, so cutting down certain scenes might have helped move the plot along and made the ride much more worthwhile。 Overall, I would recommend this to a friend。 It’s a great and unique story。 It has a lot of the elements I love to read in a fantasy novel。 A great debut for this author。 Well done! 。。。more

This is the book to read If you need to get out of a reading slump! I received an arc for this book and omg it was amazing。 I went through an emotional rollercoaster for this book and I wouldn’t of wanted it any other way。 I loved how the world building grew as you went through the story instead of just all at the beginning。 Rachel, girl you literally could not have done better with this book。 I went in thinking it was going to be a stand alone and now I’m upset I have to wait but it was so wort This is the book to read If you need to get out of a reading slump! *i was sent an arch for an honest review* at first this book was really fast and I didn’t understand a thing going on but then the author found her grove and book started to sail even if it was a bit slow at time。 Overall I did really enjoy reading this and the 7 deadly sins trope will always have a special spot in my heart。 Congratulations on your book Rachel!!!

I was so lucky to receive an ARC copy of this book。 The world building was so rich it felt like falling in to a completely different world。 The world building was a bit heavy at times but I honestly think all fantasy novels can be like that。 The pacing was perfect and all the different worlds kept it interesting。 The plot was so intriguing and the story has me feeling all of my feelings。 Definitely an amazing debut novel by Rachel Serrin。

I received an arc for this book in exchange for a review。 Without giving too much away: This book hooked me from the very beginning。 If you enjoy world building, building on myths and legends about the seven deadly sins (me, I’m a sucker for it), pick up this book。 I’m excited for the future of this series and to continue seeing the growth of Rachel。 The writing and world building were fantastic。

Chefs kiss。 The brief time we had in each sin was also very well done。 The sins were done in a way I hadn’t thought of, and were explained very well throughout。 I loved trying to figure out which sin we were in with Violet。 And no spoilers but the ending???? I loved all of the world we have seen so far, the world building was wonderful I felt like I could clearly picture the world and creatures in it! This book gave me seven deadly sins mixed with hunger games (just where they are in trials pretty much in each world and have to survive and sometimes kill to pass to the next world, depending on the sin) and a splash of original ideas all in one bundle。 But that ending, I’m legit dead, in a good way。 All I can say is Jack better be okay, cause idk if I can handle anything else。 And I just have so many questions!!!! This book is nail-biting adventurous, it had me hooked by like 8% in (I read it as an e-book so I don't know the exact page)。 Felt a bit like the Blade Runner series not because of robots but with a futuristic slum (the South), large screens, and then having hoverbikes。 The mc Violet is amazing, you learn she is bisexual early on and it was subtly done that it didn't feel like a big deal (unlike how some other books will do)。 Starting out she's pretty much an alcoholic and extremely depressed but as the story continues you understand why。 Violet is a sarcastic little flower and had me rolling。 Seeing her going through each world and dealing with the monsters/creatures (which where done really well), you might get some emotional damage but who doesn't like character development? Each sin has its own world which is where it feels like the show Seven Deadly Sins, which the Sins are explained really well。 You also meet Jack Merin (who I can't get over) in the first chapter and then learn how he plays into Violets world-he sent her brother (Reed) into the Sins。 The Sins being their way of "jail"/game/curse。 but is actual I loved the sibling trope of one doing everything thy can to protect the other, you learn Reed protects Violet before he is sent to the Sins。 Found family is a big part of this book and I absolutely love it! There are such diverse characters and each of them have their issue but you will fall in love with them-Jelan, Rio, Avaya, Navo to name some。 I can't wait to see what they all do in book 2! Thank you Rachel Serrin for letting me experience this world and these characters, I enjoyed every second of it! :) 。。。more

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review。Behold the Sins had a really promising premise, but I felt like some things got lost in translation。 There was a lot of world building, but I felt it missed points that as a reader I needed to follow the story。 It did give a main character and side characters that I wanted to know more about。 They had real emotional reactions that made the story feel full of life。 Overall I enjoyed it, but there were parts where I had to commit t I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review。Behold the Sins had a really promising premise, but I felt like some things got lost in translation。 There was a lot of world building, but I felt it missed points that as a reader I needed to follow the story。 It did give a main character and side characters that I wanted to know more about。 They had real emotional reactions that made the story feel full of life。 Overall I enjoyed it, but there were parts where I had to commit to reading rather than let it just slow。 A strong debut novel from Rachel Serrin and I look forward to seeing where she takes this story。 3。75 stars 。。。more

I received an ARC for an honest review。 I'm going to start this of with a realization I had about a third of the way through: I don't think this is my genre。 I thought it would be, but I struggled。The good: I really enjoyed the world building in the various sins。 They were creative and original, many times leaving me guessing along with Violet on what the sin was。 I loved Gwen and the entire Gluttony storyline。 It was cruel and twisted in a way I wasn't expecting。 The world building overall in t I received an ARC for an honest review。 I'm going to start this of with a realization I had about a third of the way through: I don't think this is my genre。 I thought it would be, but I struggled。The good: I really enjoyed the world building in the various sins。 They were creative and original, many times leaving me guessing along with Violet on what the sin was。 I loved Gwen and the entire Gluttony storyline。 It was cruel and twisted in a way I wasn't expecting。 The world building overall in the sins was phenomenal。 I also love Hira, she gives me Lizzo vibes! The bad: There was SO much information that was hidden amongst plas-this and plas-that, I couldn't keep track。 Jelan's storyline is another book, full stop。 I actually found myself putting the story down when it would cut to a Jelan scene because it went from urban fantasy to a mafia story that largely had nothing to do with one another。 The ugly: this book needs more time in the editing room。 There's poor word choices, confusing phrases that left me reading passages over again to make sure I was understanding what was happening, and very odd pacing choices。 The action scenes fly by so quickly it's hard to keep up。 And the place where the book ends is HIGHLY dissatisfying。 Overall I think this book should've been two separate stories and with the extra chapters, the adventure into the sins could've been more fleshed out and it's characters more than pawns in the story。 。。。more

And Jack。。。 oh dear Jack。。。 I adore him。 Also, can we talk about the enemies to lovers in this book? L O V E D。 The banter was amazing。I just can't say enough how much I LOVED this book, and I am so grateful to have received an ARC。Although it was hard to pick just one quote out of this book as my favorite, I'm going to have to say it's the following:“The earth does not wait for bigger streams to water its land。 The birds do not wait for bigger worms to feed their nests。 The skies do not wait for the perfect day to storm。 The world does not wait for you, and neither does life。” 。。。more

This is such a great story!! Great characters and absolutely beautiful world building!! The way each of the sin worlds are set up is thoughtful and purposeful but not exactly what you would expect。 Violet comes from the slums Calesal a world that has been cursed to watch their loved ones that have to work their way through the 7 Sins to receive pinnace。 When one is successful their world will be free。 After Violet’s brother is condemned to go through she volunteers to go and find him。 She fights This is such a great story!! So I received this book as an arc reader。 I found Rachel in TikTok and was immediately invested and intrigued by the initial idea and storyline! I was so excited to read about her take on the seven deadly sins and the world surrounding it and don’t get me wrong I love fantasy and dystopian books (when done correctly) and I’m not saying she did anything wrong because this is a great debut novel。 But it took me forever to read because I kept getting confused or distracted with all the information So I received this book as an arc reader。 I found Rachel in TikTok and was immediately invested and intrigued by the initial idea and storyline! It was one of the most interesting that I’ve read in awhile! And I will be reading the second one when/if she continues this story! And thank you so much for allowing me to read and enjoy your book!! I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy 。。。more
