This book lists off basic things boys (or girls) can have fun doing and probably need to know。 It is a book you can dip into when you want to。 You can scan through the chapter list and see if there's anything that catches your eye。 There is always something interesting。 Many of the skills included are things that get pushed aside in favor of teaching new things。 Seeing steps on how to tie a Windsor knot, build a fire, and all of these essential (and fun) skills, I wonder why no one is teaching o This book lists off basic things boys (or girls) can have fun doing and probably need to know。 It is a book you can dip into when you want to。 You can scan through the chapter list and see if there's anything that catches your eye。 There is always something interesting。 Many of the skills included are things that get pushed aside in favor of teaching new things。 Seeing steps on how to tie a Windsor knot, build a fire, and all of these essential (and fun) skills, I wonder why no one is teaching our kids these things anymore。 I think people are craving this kind of book right now。 People are so overwhelmed by technology and the prevalence of it that they're longing for “the good old days。” A book like this can help take you back。 And no matter what happens, the best part of this book is the time that you all spent together, experimenting and fine-tuning some of the tips that were included。 To listen to my interview with the author, go to my podcast at:https://zibbyowens。com/transcript/con。。。 。。。more

In the second part of the "Dangerous Book for Boys," Conn writes about things that many kids today would like to learn。 From picking a lock to solving a Rubix cube, this book has it all。 It teaches you about the exciting things you never had time to learn。 Coupled with incredible stories of bravery and courage, I would recommend this book to anyone of any age。 In the second part of the "Dangerous Book for Boys," Conn writes about things that many kids today would like to learn。 From picking a lock to solving a Rubix cube, this book has it all。 It teaches you about the exciting things you never had time to learn。 Coupled with incredible stories of bravery and courage, I would recommend this book to anyone of any age。 。。。more

Brilliant book full of information presented in a way which doesn’t bore you to tears。 A lot of the information has stuck from famous speeches, extraordinary stories, how to make a pencil catapult and different types of trees in Britain。 Although I have finished this book, I will definitely be going back to complete some of the practical tasks in there。

Though I got this book for the boys, I still found quite a bit of it entertaining。 Full disclosure though - I did not read through every topic。

Good for reading when you are bored or laid up。 Nice variety of overall knowledge and a few clever bits to learn。

I have always been a girl who thought she could do whatever a boy could do, and here I am learning how to make a pencil catapult or picking a lock。 Just kidding。。。 I'm not 10。。。 I just studied the general mechanics of the lock and moved onto reading about Ernest Shackleton。 I cannot stress this enough。。。 this book is amazing! It is fun, it is useful, and it is life skills。 I purchased this one new, the first Dangerous book for boys used, and the two Daring Books for Girls used。 We're all going t I have always been a girl who thought she could do whatever a boy could do, and here I am learning how to make a pencil catapult or picking a lock。 Just kidding。。。 I'm not 10。。。 I just studied the general mechanics of the lock and moved onto reading about Ernest Shackleton。 I cannot stress this enough。。。 this book is amazing! That's this book。 This is a book of grandpa's telling you stuff。 We all need more time with grandpa's。 。。。more

Neat content but very imbalanced in terms of imperialism in history and virtually no intersectionality。 Also I could only finish the white side for the Rubiks cube instructions and had to use the internet for the rest

An excellent companion to the beloved ‘Dangerous book for boys’( make sure to get the original book too)。This sequel ranges from numismatics to The Twelve Caesars。 It’s an ideal gift for the boy or man in your life。

Hmmmm。 I'm simultaneously immediately in love with this book and rather insulted by it。"Spark your imagination。Forge your own adventures。And unearth long-lost skills。The ultimate companion for explorers of all ages。"But not the ultimate companion for all GENDERS (girls and the gender-fluid be dammed)?I get that it's trading on the image and style of decades past, in which it was so frequently generalised that all boys liked bugs and sports, all girls liked princesses and kittens, and gender-flui Hmmmm。 I'm simultaneously immediately in love with this book and rather insulted by it。"Spark your imagination。Forge your own adventures。And unearth long-lost skills。The ultimate companion for explorers of all ages。"But not the ultimate companion for all GENDERS (girls and the gender-fluid be dammed)?I get that it's trading on the image and style of decades past, in which it was so frequently generalised that all boys liked bugs and sports, all girls liked princesses and kittens, and gender-fluidity wasn't talked about。 But in the days of Women Who Changed the World and Boys Who Dared to be Different and the like, the naming of this book seems to have missed something。Or was this allowed to pass because girls have long read books aimed at boys, but so many hetero-normative boys won't touch a book that is aimed at girls?Honestly, from flicking through the book, it looks like a 5/5 book。。。 but because of this cover, this title, I can't give it that。 It doesn't even have a nod (that I've seen so far) at the fact that girls would enjoy it (and are ALLOWED to do it) too, either。The acknowledgements include:"I hope it's understood that strong women, like strong men, are a joy to heaven。On that subject, I'd like to thank my daughters, Mia and Sophie, for all their help, despite the eye-rolling。"I get that this is the follow-up to a bestseller from 12 years ago, but the world has changed a LOT in twelve years。。。 could they not have been more inclusive?Okay。。。 that was a longer rant than I expected。The book itself is awesome, and I would HIGHLY recommend it for ALL KIDS, especially with the holidays coming up, but maybe it needs "and Girls" added with a sharpie before doing so?It has lock-picking and tying knots; how to solve a Rubik's cube; some basic meals; how to make a cup of coffee; maths puzzles; card and magic tricks; questions about the law; Kintsugi; chess; chemical reactions; casting resin; paper aeroplanes and jumping paper frogs; historical figures, battles, and horses; questions about the world。This is the kind of book that has something for a lot of occasions, with activities that need to be done in the physical world as well as those that can be done on paper, and some stories and historical reading。 It's one of those compendiums of a whole lot of random stuff which is all (mostly) pretty cool and will interest a range of people。Oh, and "more books every boy should read" and "strength exercises every boy should do"。 *rolls eyes* 。。。more

I'm so glad @harpercollinsus popped one over for us to dig into! It has all the things you wish someone had showed you when you were younger (and, I'm just a girl! 😉)。 My boys are loving it。。。 particularly the parts about explosions, explorers, and things that stink!🧨I love it so much I'm going to use it in a co-op。 I might be little nuts for teaching a group of kids to pick locks but we're all mad here! 🐰🕰️🎩☕📚ghmbookclub I'm so glad @harpercollinsus popped one over for us to dig into! My son and husband are having way too much fun looking through The Double Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn Iggulden。 It’s a style that’s one of my favorites - a compendium of seemingly random facts, biographies, and science experiments, alongside camping tips and riddles。 We pick it up in the evenings and get totally engrossed。•The title does make me chuckle a bit (it’s the 21st century and we still think this is all just for boys?)。 But obviously there’s a market, since the first book was a best My son and husband are having way too much fun looking through The Double Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn Iggulden。 It’s a style that’s one of my favorites - a compendium of seemingly random facts, biographies, and science experiments, alongside camping tips and riddles。 We pick it up in the evenings and get totally engrossed。•The title does make me chuckle a bit (it’s the 21st century and we still think this is all just for boys?)。 But obviously there’s a market, since the first book was a bestseller。 And I honestly don’t care what the title is, if the content is this good。•On a related note, what kind of books do you buy the men in your life?•On sale October 8, 2019!
