A cat that saves the day, a cat that is perhaps a bit dim witted and causes frustration to the family, but is charming。 Can imagine it is a story that could be used for children to connect with their own personal experiences of pets。

For anyone who has ever had an elderly cat, or a cheeky cat or perhaps even a cat at all I think this story will resonate。 Much like one of my own elderly cats once was, Mog is super forgetful and tends to cause some bother when she forgets where she is, that she has a perfectly good cat flap, or that she’s even a cat at all。 This pulls really damn hard on the heart strings, because it has this good natured feeling with a slightly sad atmosphere, at least for adult readers who know that Mog is p For anyone who has ever had an elderly cat, or a cheeky cat or perhaps even a cat at all I think this story will resonate。 Much like one of my own elderly cats once was, Mog is super forgetful and tends to cause some bother when she forgets where she is, that she has a perfectly good cat flap, or that she’s even a cat at all。 This pulls really damn hard on the heart strings, because it has this good natured feeling with a slightly sad atmosphere, at least for adult readers who know that Mog is probably quite old! Mog often doesn’t feel understood and thinks her family doesn’t love her because she’s such a bother to them, but actually they do love her and most especially when she saves the day。 To be honest, I don’t love that undertone but the nostalgic reminder of my own fluffy friend who certainly was forgetful and a bit weird some days when she felt lost and forgot she too was a cat, was enough to make me adore this story。 。。。more

Once there was a cat called Mog。She lived with a family called Thomas。Mog was nice but not very clever。She didn't understand a lot of things。A lot of other things she forgot。She was a very forgetful cat。Another of today's charity shop finds which we bought for the book and not the plush 'Mog', honestly! It is a charming little book and a true classic from Judith Kerr。 This is the first outing for the much loved Mog and we find out all about her family and her forgetfulness。 4 stars! One of my all-time favorite children's picture books Mog the Forgetful Cat was the artistic inspiration for the cover of my own book A lemur called Brigitte。 My hardcover copy of Mog is on the verge of falling apart as it has been much loved by so many - first by myself and my sister, then by my children, and after that the young children I taught。 It is a wonderful story, a tribute to a family pet that endears it to its readers, written and illustrated with a great sense of humor。 Judith Kerr w One of my all-time favorite children's picture books Mog the Forgetful Cat was the artistic inspiration for the cover of my own book A lemur called Brigitte。 My hardcover copy of Mog is on the verge of falling apart as it has been much loved by so many - first by myself and my sister, then by my children, and after that the young children I taught。 It is a wonderful story, a tribute to a family pet that endears it to its readers, written and illustrated with a great sense of humor。 Judith Kerr was an immensely talented writer and illustrator。 。。。more

2。5 starsTo be honest, I was disappointed by this classic and don't find it particularly special, especially these days with so many (much) more exciting books for kids around。 The story was ordinary and a bit boring and the illustrations also weren't my favourite。 2。5 starsTo be honest, I was disappointed by this classic and don't find it particularly special, especially these days with so many (much) more exciting books for kids around。 The story was ordinary and a bit boring and the illustrations also weren't my favourite。 。。。more

wordpress。com/202。。。 。。。more

This book is very good for little children who have just begun to perceive the joys of reading。 The text is divided into short parts, so it’d be easy for young readers to perceive。 There are illustrations on every page, they’re simple and warm, and were made with love by the author herself, which is their greatest value, so we can see the heroes like they were intended。 And Mog’s story causes a big smile because of its kind jokes about Mog and other family members。 The culmination was how Mog ca This book is very good for little children who have just begun to perceive the joys of reading。 The text is divided into short parts, so it’d be easy for young readers to perceive。 There are illustrations on every page, they’re simple and warm, and were made with love by the author herself, which is their greatest value, so we can see the heroes like they were intended。 And Mog’s story causes a big smile because of its kind jokes about Mog and other family members。 The culmination was how Mog casually saved the table silver。 My favourite illustration is the one with the policeman, the burglar and the Thomases happily drinking tea together。 。。。more

Nice story, message, and pictures。。。but definitely shows its age with the Dad watching a fight on the TV, and the odd scene of the burglar politely staying for a cup of tea

The misunderstood Mog must be feeling ecstatic that she has been beloved by many young children for over 50th years now, her usual forgetfulness tended to get her into trouble with the Thomas family as she thought her owners didn't care。From standing on the flower window box instead of using the cat flap, to trying to nab the family breakfast having forgotten she'd already eaten。。。The nuisance cat soon has an opportunity to save the day and the family embrace her misgivings。A delightful classic The misunderstood Mog must be feeling ecstatic that she has been beloved by many young children for over 50th years now, her usual forgetfulness tended to get her into trouble with the Thomas family as she thought her owners didn't care。From standing on the flower window box instead of using the cat flap, to trying to nab the family breakfast having forgotten she'd already eaten。。。The nuisance cat soon has an opportunity to save the day and the family embrace her misgivings。A delightful classic with some great illustrations, the picture book is very rooted in the time period of the early 70's that it was first published but also。feels timeless。The perfectly simple tale that continues to delight。 。。。more

Mog is a forgetful cat living in a home with parents and 1 girl (Debbie) and her brother Nikki。 Mog gets blamed quite a bit at home with things that happen until Mog warns the family about a burglar and is then seen in a different light。It is a great book to read to children and create discussions based on it, whether it be feelings or scenarios and what the child thinks will happen next。

Poor Mog can't seem to do anything right and feels sad that she is not valued by her family。 But then something happens; she becomes a hero, and life changes forever, for the better。 First published in 1970, this charming book is still just as wonderful to read to children as it was when it was written。 Although rather old fashioned in a lot of ways, this seems to add to the pleasure。 As a parent reading it, I feel nostalgic, and to children, it portrays a pleasant and simple view of life。 A tru Poor Mog can't seem to do anything right and feels sad that she is not valued by her family。 But then something happens; she becomes a hero, and life changes forever, for the better。 First published in 1970, this charming book is still just as wonderful to read to children as it was when it was written。 Although rather old fashioned in a lot of ways, this seems to add to the pleasure。 As a parent reading it, I feel nostalgic, and to children, it portrays a pleasant and simple view of life。 A true classic。 。。。more
