Summary

Beach Read meets The Flatshare in this warmly funny and delightfully sharp debut rom-com about a down-on-her-luck young woman who turns an innocent mix-up between a dating app and a roommate app into a new chance at love。

After getting passed over for an overdue—and much needed—promotion, Sadie Green is in desperate need of three things: a stiff drink, a new place to live, and a one-night-stand。 When one drink turns into one too many, Sadie mixes up a long-ignored dating app for a roommate-finding app and finds herself on the doorstep of Jack Thomas’s gorgeous Brooklyn brownstone。 Too bad she’s more attracted to his impressive real estate than she is to the man himself。

Jack, still grieving the unexpected death of his parents, has learned to find comfort in video games and movie marathons instead of friends。 So while he doesn’t know just what to make of the vivaciously verbose Sadie, he’s willing to offer her his spare bedroom while she gets back on her feet。 And with the rent unbeatably low, Sadie can finally pursue her floristry side hustle full-time。 The two are polar opposites, but as Sadie’s presence begins to turn the brownstone into a home, they both start to realize they may have just made the deal of a lifetime。

Cute, fun read。 I’m glad Sadie called herself selfish; otherwise she would have annoyed me to no end。 She owned it, so it worked。

Loved the characters and the story。 It was so good and flowed so well。 That I devoured it in a day。

The last 2 chapters killed the good vibes for me。 I was scanning like a horse just to get the story finished。 But。 It was enjoyable and heart warming and definitely a short, funny and sexy beach read! There's this eternal sexy tension between the two that made me giggle and have butterflies in my stomach。 Like, when will you get l*id already? But the wait is worth it。 Jack is a lonely rich boy and Sadie's smart banter, optimism and jokes made his heart open up。Jack, the hero is so out of the wor The last 2 chapters killed the good vibes for me。 I was scanning like a horse just to get the story finished。 But。 It was enjoyable and heart warming and definitely a short, funny and sexy beach read! The minor characters are fun and likeable。 They also give snarky remarks that make my ass laugh off。Man, the punchlines and joke are really funny! However, Sadie is too selfish, Jack is too perfect。 I was enjoying their love story until I reached chapters 18 and 19。 Was thinking if I am going to finish it or not。 It did kill all the good vibes in me。 Sure, there are supposed to be struggles in the relationships, right? And they are both damaged, right? But Sadie got super annoying on the 18th chapter and i couldn't handle that。 Still finished it though。 My sadieMy Jack but imagine he has eyeglasses here lol 。。。more

Oh jack you poor broken man how I adore you。 This book was SO good。 I adored Sadie and her friends they were hilarious, supportive and the kind of friends we should all have。 Jack was an amazing broken hero and I just loved the way Sadie helped him heal and he helped her heal。 I loved the focus on therapy and working on yourself before committing to someone else。 A great debut I enjoyed

February was kind of a dumpster fire of a reading month, but this last book was good, which is why I am rounding up from 3。5 to 4 stars。

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(4/5, Romance)I needed an escape。 Don’t we all right now? This was the perfect retreat for me。 I found this book incredibly sweet and refreshing。 Our story follows funny and sassy Sadie who sadly was just passed up for a much deserved promotion and subsequently gets fired。 When Sadie tries to figure out how the hell she is going to sort out her living situation, the perfect brownstone lands in her lap。 It is owned by Jack, a reclusive and quiet young man who is Sadie’s opposite。 As Sadie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(4/5, Romance)I needed an escape。 Don’t we all right now? These people drink so much wine they put Olivia Pope to shame… obviously best paired with red wine (maybe a fun blend??)。 Cheers!xx 。。。more

I’m soooo disappointed - the premise is so good, but I give 2-stars automatically if I find myself skimming big portions。Characters: I think my biggest problem were the characters - the Hero especially didn’t seem like a real person AT ALL。 He just conveniently inhabited whatever persona the scene called for: uncouth nerd, brooding artist, gooey heartthrob。 What person is like this?? The Heroine just felt weirdly cocky (“above-average attractiveness”) and insecure which I guess is a possibly real thing, but I had a hard time connecting with her。 She just seemed shallow and not much psychology beyond her work ethic (which I did appreciate)The friends felt like stock characters and didn’t really connect with them either。Dialogue: Not memorable。 Seemed to generally revolve around takeout food and coffee。 The Desperate Housewives watching also felt very wildly silly for the Hero to be into。 Romance-arc: Their attraction simply didn’t make sense to me。 It seemed primarily physical and driven by circumstance (the meet-cute premise)。 I didn’t really understand why they were coming together or pulling apart and the last 30% I skimmed because I just didn’t really care if they got together or not。 。。。more

I liked this rom com。 The story was sweet and I love a slow-burn。 HOWEVER, the Millennial Humor about did me in at times。 So beware。 But tbh I simply needed to devour a rom com in 24 hours and this one fit the bill pretty well。

Ughhh this book is what my heart and soul NEEDED。 I know a book is good when my jaw actually drops on multiple occasions, my heart feels physically warmer and the epilogue leaves me more than satisfied。 One of my top favorite books of all time!

4。5 stars。 Read it in almost one day, it is a short read but damn it was hard to put down。

Cute novel about Jack and Sadie! I love how there is so much hype built up about their relationship! Cute Novel!

This was a fun SLOWW burn that fluctuated for me between being a little too cute at times (how many times does one person need to be called “sweet pea?”), and a good mix of serious and lighthearted。 I appreciated when I opened the book I had almost no idea where it was going to go, but was impressed with the way the author made the plot come together with a silly drunken mistake that truly changed Sadie’s life。 Parts of the books were 3 stars for me (“jack in the box, jack o lantern, jack of hea This was a fun SLOWW burn that fluctuated for me between being a little too cute at times (how many times does one person need to be called “sweet pea?”), and a good mix of serious and lighthearted。 I appreciated when I opened the book I had almost no idea where it was going to go, but was impressed with the way the author made the plot come together with a silly drunken mistake that truly changed Sadie’s life。 Parts of the books were 3 stars for me (“jack in the box, jack o lantern, jack of hearts”, Sadie in general, and how much wine/coffee all the characters drank…how were they not completely shit faced all the time???)。 Other parts of it were 5 stars (Jack, how much Jack loved Sadie, Sadie’s friend group。) Even with the minor annoyances, I’d definitely read a sequel and with the way the book ended, I’m hoping we’ll get one。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 Super cute。 For sure had some cringe worthy millennial moments, but was enjoyable nonetheless。 I felt like it was a somewhat accurate depiction of living with mental health issues, but it not being the driving narrative of the story。

this book was good in the beginning kinda cheesy and happy, but the author kept trying to push this whole spiel if the main character hating herself and all her friends reassuring her and i’m sure it was meant to loving and inspiring but in reality it was just really annoying。 and the roommates to livers slow burn trope was ridiculous。 the author created conflict just to create conflict。 there was no reason for any of it。 the big ‘reveal’ at the end was really like… what。。 what was the point of this book was good in the beginning kinda cheesy and happy, but the author kept trying to push this whole spiel if the main character hating herself and all her friends reassuring her and i’m sure it was meant to loving and inspiring but in reality it was just really annoying。 and the roommates to livers slow burn trope was ridiculous。 the author created conflict just to create conflict。 there was no reason for any of it。 the big ‘reveal’ at the end was really like… what。。 what was the point of that。 idk i just didn’t love it。 also if i have to see the words sweet pea written in a page one more time i might explode。 。。。more

4。5- this book was a bit slow to start for me but I needed up shedding a year and related to bits of Sadie。 She felt she was never enough for jack, despite being great for her friends and him。 Super cute and I didn’t mind the little spice

Romances often present psychological rather than obstacles。 Every character, it sometimes seems, has some past to vanquish。 The baggage of the two main characters of Lease on Love is especially weighty and sometimes feels overplayed。 While the character are sympathetic, at times their actions seem baffling, a better fit for the plot than for reality。

I guess insta-love is not really my thing? And there was so much potential。。。 But the characters remained flat and the pace was SO slow。 I mean, I like slow burn, but here there didn't seem a good reason for it here。。。 The insta-love might explain why。 Love the cover illustration though 😍 I guess insta-love is not really my thing? This。 Book。 Everything about it was perfect。 I’ve never read a book and thought “wow I REALLY relate to this character” but with Lease on Love I truly did, through and through。 Sadie’s struggles with her inner self are so relatable and something you don’t always see talked about in print。 Reading this book made me feel lighter。 I loved it 1000x over。
