Summary

Sixteen-year-old Dylan Highmark thought his winter was going to be full of boring shifts at the Dairy Queen, until he finds himself in love with a boy who's literally too hot to handle。

Dylan has always wanted a boyfriend, but the suburbs surrounding Philadelphia do not have a lot in the way of options。 Then, in walks Jordan, a completely normal (and undeniably cute) boy who also happens to run at a cool 110 degrees Fahrenheit。 When the boys start spending time together, Dylan begins feeling all kinds of ways, and when he spikes a fever for two weeks and is suddenly coughing flames, he thinks he might be suffering from something more than just a crush。 Jordan forces Dylan to keep his symptoms a secret。 But as the pressure mounts and Dylan becomes distant with his closest friends and family, he pushes Jordan for answers。 Jordan's revelations of why he's like this, where he came from, and who's after him leaves Dylan realizing how much first love is truly out of this world。 And if Earth supports life that breathes oxygen, then love can only keep Jordan and Dylan together for so long。

I read this ARC via Netgalley。Dylan is getting tired of his friends setting him up - then the boy of his dreams walks into the Dairy Queen where he works。 But Jordan has a secret which he reveals to Dylan when he accidentally explodes an ice cream: his body was chemically altered in an explosion, and now he runs at a hot 110 degrees and can summon flames with his hands。 Dylan is struggling to keep it a secret, until he finds himself in too deep。。。 Fans of Adam Silvera's Infinity Son and The X-Me I read this ARC via Netgalley。Dylan is getting tired of his friends setting him up - then the boy of his dreams walks into the Dairy Queen where he works。 But Jordan has a secret which he reveals to Dylan when he accidentally explodes an ice cream: his body was chemically altered in an explosion, and now he runs at a hot 110 degrees and can summon flames with his hands。 Dylan is struggling to keep it a secret, until he finds himself in too deep。。。 Fans of Adam Silvera's Infinity Son and The X-Men will enjoy this book, as Dylan is quite the romantic at heart and falls hard and fast for Jordan。 Dylan's friends seem overly concerned with his love life only to then be annoyed when he's consumed by Jordan, but the group of friends did have a nice cohesiveness。 As a reader I also felt like Dylan spent too much time thinking about Jordan without action。 The story moved a little slowly, especially since Jordan disappeared in the second half, but a few other storylines were brought in as Dylan tries to take down HydroPro and deal with friendship troubles at school。 Overall this was a fun, sci-fi lite romance。 。。。more

I don't usually like contemporary books but this one was pretty refreshing。 A nice easy read, got it finished in 2 sittings but probably could have finished in one if I had the time。 I don't usually like contemporary books but this one was pretty refreshing。 A nice easy read, got it finished in 2 sittings but probably could have finished in one if I had the time。 。。。more

i have been WAITING for this one but now that i’ve read it……。 man i really got my hopes up。 the concept of the plot is amazing like this cute sci-fi romance but the execution was just,,,,,, yikes。 i think it was just the writing style that was just not good ?? the relationships were kind of toxic and some of the plot or dialogue just didn’t make sense ?? i say i’m giving this a 3。8/5 because i honestly still kind of loved it if anything just for the beautiful cover

Characters: bad。Romance: bad。 Writing: bad。 Plot: bad。 Conflict: bad。 A logical ending that would make even an OUNCE of sense: non existent, so aka, bad。 This book was just horrible, I didn’t like a single thing about it。 The characters were so flat and underdeveloped and yet, the romance was somehow less developed than that。 I feel like they didn’t even talk to each other, it was just Dylan thinking about how hot Justin was and BAM suddenly they’re dating。 Also the ending was so ridiculously il Characters: bad。Romance: bad。 Writing: bad。 Plot: bad。 Conflict: bad。 A logical ending that would make even an OUNCE of sense: non existent, so aka, bad。 This book was just horrible, I didn’t like a single thing about it。 The characters were so flat and underdeveloped and yet, the romance was somehow less developed than that。 I feel like they didn’t even talk to each other, it was just Dylan thinking about how hot Justin was and BAM suddenly they’re dating。 Also the ending was so ridiculously illogical and felt honestly incomplete。 So, yeah, they’re not going to die。 But are they going to get healed? Why was Dylan changing in the first place? How do their powers even work? WHY THE FUCK WAS THERE NO EXPLANATION OR DEVELOPMENT? So, to sum it up Book: bad。 。。。more

This is probably the cutest YA book I’ve read in a long time! Perry, Kirsten, & Dylan are an amazing trio。 Their banter is so hilarious and had me laughing the whole time。 All of the references to random shows made them relatable and I kind of wanted to be friends with them myself 🤣 I love how the story tied up。 I definitely recommend this book if you are in the mood for something quick and fun。Also I listened to the audio book read by Andrew Gibson for a little bit of it while reading along wit This is probably the cutest YA book I’ve read in a long time! This book might have the most creative premise of any contemporary romance I've ever seen。 And the romance was actually pretty strong! And the twists were turning! I think the balance of romance and Dylan's other relationships could have been better, especially in the last quarter- I feel like either a little less or a little more romance would have made this truly immaculate。 That being said, what can I say I'm a whore for romances with a strong meditation on the purpose of platonic love in our This book might have the most creative premise of any contemporary romance I've ever seen。 And the romance was actually pretty strong! 3。5/5It was like sci-fi meets just regular drama but not enough of each to make it work。 I don't feel like there was enough answers in the sci-fi to make it work as a sci-fi and it was too sci-fi for it to be just a cute story。I don't know。 I read it in a few days so it was interesting but it was just like。。。 this is the tip of the ice burg and (all puns intended) not enough heat to make it melt。 3。5/5It was like sci-fi meets just regular drama but not enough of each to make it work。 I don't feel like there was enough answers in the sci-fi to make it work as a sci-fi and it was too sci-fi for it to be just a cute story。I don't know。 I read it in a few days so it was interesting but it was just like。。。 this is the tip of the ice burg and (all puns intended) not enough heat to make it melt。 。。。more

Really good book!At first when I noticed the editorial name I was a bit skeptical about how the book was going to be。 Bc I mean Disney is known for keeping everything for children。 But instead I got something really good。 These are a few point that I would like to acknowledge:-I really liked that the main character didn't forget about his family and friends。 Its common that in other books you can see how those 2 things are let forgotten and for some reason the family is never at home or present。 Really good book!At first when I noticed the editorial name I was a bit skeptical about how the book was going to be。 Bc I mean Disney is known for keeping everything for children。 But instead I got something really good。 These are a few point that I would like to acknowledge:-I really liked that the main character didn't forget about his family and friends。 Its common that in other books you can see how those 2 things are let forgotten and for some reason the family is never at home or present。 But in this case I really liked the dynamic。-For the first time I feel like a teenager is represented in a good way。 Normally when an author writes in a POV of a teenager they make them like they are really mature and they know all。 However, I could feel the youth, immaturity and the recklessness that represent a teenage。 I always cringe when they make them or too mature for their age or too childish, there's usually no in between。-I liked the plotwist (that's all I'm going to say)-I didn't feel a lot of Jordan in the book。 I would have been nice knowing a little bit more about his personal life and more than just his nervousness about their powers-Talking about the powers。。。 I think this deserves a second book to explain more about how the power develops。-The first chapter HOOKED ME right away。Overall I would give this book a 4。5 stars。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Physically pains me to only give this three stars (it had some very very enjoyable moments) but when our love interest was missing for the last third of the book and only returned in the last six pages it lost me。 Time was spent on a storyline about a floundering GSA and it could’ve been devoted to more of the mystery instead of making the ending, well, a tad rushed。 But it was fun and had a zero gravity kiss (kinda) so three stars。

While not my favorite, this book was adorable。 I think the storytelling was a little simplistic at times, but it made for a fun romp。

I’m not a huge sci-fi reader, but I truly enjoyed this YA sci-fi romance。 This book had elements of “they are after me”, gaining of superhero like powers, typical pressures of teenage life friendships, and first love。 It was entertaining。What kept it from being a five star read is the inconsistent relationships with parents and guardians。 At times I was like, Where are the parents? Why aren’t they freaking out? How can they not see what’s going on? The Temperature of Me and You by Brian Zepka follows 16 year old Dylan Highmark as he meets Jordan, a cute boy, who is literally very hot。 As Dylan gets to know Jordan better and starts to fall in love he realizes things are even stranger than they seemed at first。I thought the premise of this story was very interesting with Jordan being this almost super hero like character。 I also liked how so many of the characters in the story were expanded upon and were not just side characters。 From Dylan' The Temperature of Me and You by Brian Zepka follows 16 year old Dylan Highmark as he meets Jordan, a cute boy, who is literally very hot。 As Dylan gets to know Jordan better and starts to fall in love he realizes things are even stranger than they seemed at first。I thought the premise of this story was very interesting with Jordan being this almost super hero like character。 I also liked how so many of the characters in the story were expanded upon and were not just side characters。 From Dylan's friends Perry and Kristen to the school mean girl Savanna all of these characters were so full of life and and could have easily been their own characters in their own books。One thing I did not enjoy though, was how the story never really goes into full details on any of the more science fiction elements。 It never really fully explains Jordans powers, how they affected Dylan, or why the bad people in the story do what they do。 Additionally, the story seems to end kind of suddenly, and while I love a happy ending, this ending did not seem to be explained at all and to me made no sense。Overall, I thought the book had some strong elements, I just really wish things could have been explained better and the ending had not felt so rushed。 。。。more

Brian Zepka's debut novel, The Temperature of Me and You, is a bit of a fantasy novel with a crazy love story at its core。He wanted a boyfriend。 He never imagined this。 Dylan is the only out guy in his junior class, which makes dating close to impossible。 Then one day, Jordan walks into the Dairy Queen where he works。 Dylan has never seen Jordan before, but he is immediately smitten…and then Jordan makes a Blizzard explode。 Literally。Clearly Jordan is hiding something, and he’s afraid to tel Brian Zepka's debut novel, The Temperature of Me and You, is a bit of a fantasy novel with a crazy love story at its core。He wanted a boyfriend。 He never imagined this。 Dylan is the only out guy in his junior class, which makes dating close to impossible。 Then one day, Jordan walks into the Dairy Queen where he works。 Dylan has never seen Jordan before, but he is immediately smitten…and then Jordan makes a Blizzard explode。 Literally。Clearly Jordan is hiding something, and he’s afraid to tell Dylan the truth。 He supposedly just moved here from Arizona to live with his aunt and uncle, but what's the story there? And why is Jordan always so hot—temperature-wise? Even though there are lots of questions left unanswered, the two grow closer, but when Dylan starts coughing flames himself, Jordan begs him to keep his symptoms a secret for their safety, which means causes Dylan to start withdrawing from family and friends。Can this fiery love sustain itself? Can Dylan and Jordan have a normal relationship without the use of fire extinguishers? I thought this was a sweet story with an interesting twist—you thought all relationships had drama? You don’t know the half of it。Thanks so much to Disney/Hyperion and Storygram Tours for inviting me on the tour for The Temperature of Me and You and providing a complimentary advance copy of the book!Check out my list of the best books I read in 2021 at https://itseithersadnessoreuphoria。blogspot。com/2022/01/the-best-books-i-read-in-2021。html。 See all of my reviews at itseithersadnessoreuphoria。blogspot。com。Follow me on Instagram at https://www。instagram。com/the。bookishworld。of。yrralh/。 。。。more

It was a fun story but not that memorable。 I feel like the powers should have been explained more。 How did Jordan get the powers and how did he pass them on? The second half had more action but also felt slower。 The ending felt incomplete。 I still have questions!

I loved Dylan and Jordan so much。 I also loved his friends Kristen and Perry。I felt like this could have been at least 100 pages longer and some parts felt rushed but I loved the ending

This was kind of terrible? The plot and pacing was all over the place, and I was confused more often than not。 Disappointing romance with weird interactions。 The teen sarcasm and witticism did get a few chuckles out of me, though。

It was good enough for me to pick it up to keep reading, but not good enough that I was ever happy about using my time that way。 The characters come off as cliches (never mind all the cliches in the book) and the romance never explores anything deeper than a teenage puppy love。 An interesting premise that was squandered and without much to say。
