Summary

Jason Thorn… My brother’s childhood friend。

Oh, how stupidly in love with that boy I was。 He was the first boy that made me blush, my first official crush。 Sounds beautiful so far, right? That excitement that bubbles up inside you, those famous butterflies you feel for the very first time—he was the reason for them all。 But, you only get to live in that fairytale world until they crush your hopes and dreams and then stomp on your heart for good measure。 And boy did he crush my little heart into pieces。

After the stomping part he became the boy I did my best to stay away from—and let me tell you, it was pretty hard to do when he slept in the room right across from mine。

When tragedy struck his family and they moved away, I was ready to forget he ever existed。

Now he is a movie star, the one who makes women of all ages go into a screaming frenzy, the one who makes everyone swoon with that dimpled smile of his。 Do you think that’s dreamy? I certainly don’t think so。 How about me coming face to face with him? Nope still not dreamy。 Not when I can’t even manage to look him in the eye。

Me? I’m Olive, a new writer。 Actually, I’m THE writer of the book that inspired the movie he is about to star in on the big screen。 As of late, I am also referred to as the oh-so-very-lucky girl who is about to become the wife of Jason Thorn。

Maybe you’re thinking yet again that this is all so dreamy? Nope, nothing dreamy going on here。 Not even close。

Nope nope nope。 I can’t finish this。 I’m bailing 20% in。 I don’t even want to mark this as a 2022 book because I don’t want it on my reading challenge record。 I cannot get past the fact that Jason calls Olive “little one”。 That is what you call a child not a romantic interest ESPECIALLY since he still treats her like a child。 And along the same lines, “little” seems to be Jason’s favorite word to describe everyone。 I swear he does not know any other adjective。 Jason is also insufferable in many Nope nope nope。 I can’t finish this。 I’m bailing 20% in。 I don’t even want to mark this as a 2022 book because I don’t want it on my reading challenge record。 I cannot get past the fact that Jason calls Olive “little one”。 That is what you call a child not a romantic interest ESPECIALLY since he still treats her like a child。 And along the same lines, “little” seems to be Jason’s favorite word to describe everyone。 I swear he does not know any other adjective。 Jason is also insufferable in many other ways。 I cannot stand a single sentence in his point of view。 If this is what grown men are like, I don’t want it。 Literally read this from his first adult pov: “This was the only time she’d be getting fucked senseless by me; I should’ve been focused on her。” My god。 And then he’s surprised that Olive has changed between age of 15 and 22。 He is not suave and charming, he is an idiot。And Olive needs to raise her standards from the bare minimum。 And change her friends。 She really describes her best friend like this and thinks it’s fine, “However, she might grope you if she ever sees you again so you can worry about that if you want to, but that’s as far as she would go”。 Disgusting。 And I’ve read some reviews that say there’s non-consensual sex in this and it’s not addressed and yet this book is liked by people?? Nope。 。。。more

I'm surprised that the novel titled "TO LOVE JASON THRORN" by Ella Maise was so fucking goooood! ✨✨✨The plot is very light。 Will not stress you out。 The charcters, Jason and Olive are amazing。 I thought this novel will bore the shit out of me but I was so wrong。 🥳 I'm surprised that the novel titled "TO LOVE JASON THRORN" by Ella Maise was so fucking goooood! ✨✨✨The plot is very light。 Will not stress you out。 The charcters, Jason and Olive are amazing。 I thought this novel will bore the shit out of me but I was so wrong。 🥳 。。。more

This book is like a really bad wreck that you know is terrible and horrible, but you have to keep looking。 It was one that I finished in a day, primarily because I had nothing better to do。When I read the summary, it sounded like a bad Wattpad book but it was published so I assumed it would be far from that。 That really was why I kept reading because it my mind there could be no way that a cringe-worthy Wattpad book would be published。 I was so wrong。To start, you have the POV of Olive as a 7 ye This book is like a really bad wreck that you know is terrible and horrible, but you have to keep looking。 It was one that I finished in a day, primarily because I had nothing better to do。When I read the summary, it sounded like a bad Wattpad book but it was published so I assumed it would be far from that。 That really was why I kept reading because it my mind there could be no way that a cringe-worthy Wattpad book would be published。 I was so wrong。To start, you have the POV of Olive as a 7 year old, but she uses large words and thinks like an adult。 The moment she sees Jason, she is head over heels in love with him。 This is when Jason coins the pet name, "little one"。 If I ever hear/read that pet name again, I will projectile vomit。 It gives me such icky vibes。 Then you experience when she is 13 and Jason is 17。 For whatever reason, he's kind of flirting with her。 As a 13 year old, I would have found it cool to have an older guy flirt with me。 As a 17 year old, I was not interested in 13 year olds, so I'm a little confused why he was even doing that, but whatever。The next portion of the book is fine, besides a few weird moments like when (view spoiler)[ she gets a hot smoothie (why was it specifically a smoothie and not a coffee? Who drinks a hot smoothie) and Jason insists on her removing her shirt in the parking lot so he can look at her burns。 Like wtf was that even about? Then he criticizes her bra? That's a no from me dawg。 (hide spoiler)]The rest of the book goes downhill and is messy。 (view spoiler)[ I literally don't understand the point of him getting married and how that was supposed to help him out。 Lucy sucks as a friend for encouraging her to do it because Olive brought up the valid point that her hard will be broken when the divorce happens in a few years。 Then we don't even get to experience the wedding? Isn't that the whole point of the book? (hide spoiler)]What really upset me was the way Ella Raise chose to write their first sexual encounter。 I was extremely disturbed that she was (view spoiler)[ sexually assaulted by Jason (hide spoiler)] (trigger warning) and it is never talked about。 She never knows it happens and continues to think this gross man is the most incredible person in the world。 I think the author intended it to be romantic but it's not。 There is no way to frame it to make it romantic。 It is another example of why this book is terrible。I don't feel like putting more energy into this review because it's not worth it。 This book is just a published fangirl type book where the characters have 0 chemistry but you are to believe they have feelings for one another but it isn't discussed until literally the last chapter after pages and pages of pet names and smut。 。。。more

This book was plucked from my own introverted fantasies and into print。 Love love love it! I'm not going to lie, this book was a little hard to get through。 The writing was awkward and at times childish。 The romantic (wink wink) scenes were good, though, but they were the only thing that got me through the rest of the book。 It was a great premise but not the best execution。 But I still finished it so。 I'm not going to lie, this book was a little hard to get through。 The writing was awkward and at times childish。 The romantic (wink wink) scenes were good, though, but they were the only thing that got me through the rest of the book。 It was a great premise but not the best execution。 But I still finished it so。 。。。more

I will summarize my review in one word: disappointing。 And I hate that it turned out this way when I had such high expectations for this book。 The beginning seemed wonderful to me, and I was already loving it, but then it fell short and very basic。 I was not surprised by the twists and neither was the ending。 It ended up being a "meh" for me, and I quite liked the premise。 I'm just sad。 I will summarize my review in one word: disappointing。 And I hate that it turned out this way when I had such high expectations for this book。 The beginning seemed wonderful to me, and I was already loving it, but then it fell short and very basic。 I was not surprised by the twists and neither was the ending。 It ended up being a "meh" for me, and I quite liked the premise。 I'm just sad。 。。。more

I like fake dating/marriage of convenience stories, and the premise here was honestly less contrived than most。 The series of events made sense leading up to the marriage。 I don't have any problems with the structure of the story, but outside of that, I don't know if I've come across a trope mismatch or if this was just a juvenilely characterized book。Olive acts like she's never interacted with a person before。 I understand heightening characteristics for the sake of comedy, but it crosses the l I like fake dating/marriage of convenience stories, and the premise here was honestly less contrived than most。 The series of events made sense leading up to the marriage。 I don't have any problems with the structure of the story, but outside of that, I don't know if I've come across a trope mismatch or if this was just a juvenilely characterized book。Olive acts like she's never interacted with a person before。 I understand heightening characteristics for the sake of comedy, but it crosses the line into embarrassing。 And any time she's drunk, she basically reverts to speaking like a toddler, including during sex scenes。 It's really uncomfortable。 All of the sex scenes are kind of like that to a point。 The "dirty talk" is really bad。Jason is possessive and jealous, and I don't think that's cute。 He's very charming and I felt that, but everything else as a character was the opposite of my taste。 He prides himself early on by mentioning that he wouldn't have sex with a woman if she was drunk, and then later has sex with a woman when she's so drunk she doesn't remember the encounter。 It's treated as a regular spicy scene, and then it never comes up again。I think every major plot beat of this story is fine。 The bones are there! If it had been written with characters that didn't make me cringe, I might have enjoyed it。 。。。more

The characters were annoying as shit— Lucy’s literally so damn weird and way too invasive, she needed to chill tf out and Olive felt like a child, immature, hollow and overly obsessive。 The plot was very much an author’s fulfillment wonderland, just made things happen without any plausible or realistic reasoning。 Then there’s the writing—simplistic and immature。 And finally, the dialogue, completely overdone, stilted and corny as fuck。 I really did not need to hear “baby” or “little one” that ma The characters were annoying as shit— Lucy’s literally so damn weird and way too invasive, she needed to chill tf out and Olive felt like a child, immature, hollow and overly obsessive。 The plot was very much an author’s fulfillment wonderland, just made things happen without any plausible or realistic reasoning。 Then there’s the writing—simplistic and immature。 And finally, the dialogue, completely overdone, stilted and corny as fuck。 I really did not need to hear “baby” or “little one” that many times, and given the history behind that last nickname, it was just flat out uncomfortable。 。。。more

In the end, I adore this book。 But it was a ride。 And I thought I was going to throw the book in frustrations at times。 But of course, that’s just how much it sucked me in。 And how much I loved the characters。

I got off to a rough start with this one, the author didn't use contractions, which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine because it makes everything sound robotic。 My solution to this was to increase the speed of the narration to 2x and that helped。In the end, I ended up really loving the story。 It was witty and fun and sexy as heck and I already love the brothers best friend trope so much, but combine it with a Hollywood romance and I'm over the moon。 I definitely enjoyed the conflicts and how none of i I got off to a rough start with this one, the author didn't use contractions, which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine because it makes everything sound robotic。 My solution to this was to increase the speed of the narration to 2x and that helped。In the end, I ended up really loving the story。 It was witty and fun and sexy as heck and I already love the brothers best friend trope so much, but combine it with a Hollywood romance and I'm over the moon。 I definitely enjoyed the conflicts and how none of it was really caused by the main characters themselves, just situations they found themselves in that had to be dealt with。 It was refreshing and interesting。。。I just wish authors would read their work out loud to themselves so they could hear how crazy it wounds without contractions。 。。。more

I was looking forward to reading this book, I had seen multiple videos on TikTok hyping this book, and although I did enjoy it, I didn’t find it spectacular or breathtaking or special。 I mean, it was cute and it made a smile appear on my face, but it didn’t really make my heart jump with excitement or made it die of cuteness or stop for a second because I was speechless for a sec。 Not gonna lie, I feel like it was supposed to be a mature kind of romance, but most of the parts really felt like a I was looking forward to reading this book, I had seen multiple videos on TikTok hyping this book, and although I did enjoy it, I didn’t find it spectacular or breathtaking or special。 I mean, it was cute and it made a smile appear on my face, but it didn’t really make my heart jump with excitement or made it die of cuteness or stop for a second because I was speechless for a sec。 Not gonna lie, I feel like it was supposed to be a mature kind of romance, but most of the parts really felt like a teenagers romance, which is also cute and great to read by the way, but the mixture just got me like huh?
