After months of training to become Batman's crime-fighting partner, young orphan Dick Grayson is finally ready to take to the night as Robin。 But this job requires more than just his fists。 As he squares off against the Mad Hatter, Mr。 Freeze and Two-Face for the first time, Robin grapples with the hard choices and sacrifices that come with the life of a masked hero。

His first year on the job is a trial by fire; can Robin fly high enough to stay out of the flames?

Haven't read comics in so long, this feels almost refreshing despite being a simple story。 Dick's first few months as Robin, proving himself with little victories, before screwing up and getting hurt。 Bruce overreacting and "firing" him, for Dick to prove himself again。 I loved Alfred's journaling throughout, it humanized the whole story。 Haven't read comics in so long, this feels almost refreshing despite being a simple story。 Dick's first few months as Robin, proving himself with little victories, before screwing up and getting hurt。 Bruce overreacting and "firing" him, for Dick to prove himself again。 I loved Alfred's journaling throughout, it humanized the whole story。 。。。more

Everything I wanted out of Dark Victory and didn't get。 Robin can be a tough character to get right but this book does him well。 Focusing so much on Alfred's POV also adds a lot。 I love Alfred。 Everything I wanted out of Dark Victory and didn't get。 Robin can be a tough character to get right but this book does him well。 Focusing so much on Alfred's POV also adds a lot。 I love Alfred。 。。。more

One of the better origins in DC and the pencils were okay, an acquired taste really but compliment the story well。 。。。more

My Brief and Misguided Delve into Superhero Comics: Part 1I've always enjoyed graphic novels, from Sandman and Saga to Fun Home and Blankets, but I've never read superhero comics, partly because it's so confusing and intimidating to jump into a 50 year story line and partly because。。。I'm not that into superheros。 I enjoyed many superhero cartoons as a kid, but "adult" superhero movies have either become too grim or too involved and I'm sorry, but I don't have the patience to watch a 30-movie lon My Brief and Misguided Delve into Superhero Comics: Part 1I've always enjoyed graphic novels, from Sandman and Saga to Fun Home and Blankets, but I've never read superhero comics, partly because it's so confusing and intimidating to jump into a 50 year story line and partly because。。。I'm not that into superheros。 I enjoyed many superhero cartoons as a kid, but "adult" superhero movies have either become too grim or too involved and I'm sorry, but I don't have the patience to watch a 30-movie long franchise。 But I somehow I got the weird urge to give superhero comics a shot, so after reading a few beginners lists online, I decide on focusing on some of my old school favorites: Robin/ Nightwing and Batgirl。I foolishly thought that this comic would be an origin story, but nah, there's nothing in here to tell you why Batman got himself an underage minion。 The stories focus on Robin, but honestly, I wasn't too excited about any of them at the time, and now, 2 months later, I can't remember a single plot line。3 stars 。。。more

4。75⭐️ I enjoyed this, i have always been one of the 3 existing fans of Robin and this was a great lookon the character。 The only thing stopping this from being a 5⭐️ is that Alfred’s handwriting was absolutely awful and i couldn’t make out a word he was saying

3。5 Stars! This's first adventure of Dick Grayson as Robin。 It's good book and there are lots of fun moments。 Art is cartoony and looks good too however quality goes up down through out this book。 There are some issues which are fun but then there are some where nothing happens and you just read them。 I think I enjoyed first half of it more than second one。 I have always enjoyed every Chuck Dixon book but I think in this one he could do bit more better。 Overall It's a fun book and if you're Ro 3。5 Stars! I liked this story a lot, it follows Dick Grayson (the first Robin) in his first year as fighting crime as Robin and sees him take on iconic villains mad hatter, mr freeze and two face。 It was good to see the dynamic between Dick as Robin and Bruce, there isn’t many stories that show this to my knowledge surprisingly。 I liked the almost retro cartoon art style here it suited the book nice as it’s in Batman’s early years (and obviously Robins)。 Overall a nice fun book, I did kind of want more fro I liked this story a lot, it follows Dick Grayson (the first Robin) in his first year as fighting crime as Robin and sees him take on iconic villains mad hatter, mr freeze and two face。 It was good to see the dynamic between Dick as Robin and Bruce, there isn’t many stories that show this to my knowledge surprisingly。 I liked the almost retro cartoon art style here it suited the book nice as it’s in Batman’s early years (and obviously Robins)。 Overall a nice fun book, I did kind of want more from the story itself but the characters were done well here and makes this a good read。 。。。more

Pretty straightforward read- The trials and tribulations of boy wonder as he battles a plethora of interesting villains。 A lot of fun。

Me sorprendió para bien。 El personaje en general de Robin no me ha gustado pero esta versión, con una voz propia y mucho más maduro me encantó。 Incluso el dibujo me encantó cómo le agregaba al ambiente que se quería transmitir。

A fun read, meant to continue after Dark Victory, but tonally feels closer to Batman:The Animated Series。

Delivers on all its promises 5/5After leaving a pretty middling view on this books' sequel I thought it only fair to explain what I love about the original。 This book is almost perfect in execution。 It's not epic in scope and the plot is fairly standard but it exceeds in droves when it comes to the characters。 This book nails Batman, Alfred, Dick, Gordon and makes Two-Face genuinely threatening。 The character development and interactions are second to none。 Everything is played out in a satisfyi Delivers on all its promises 5/5After leaving a pretty middling view on this books' sequel I thought it only fair to explain what I love about the original。 This book is almost perfect in execution。 It's not epic in scope and the plot is fairly standard but it exceeds in droves when it comes to the characters。 This book nails Batman, Alfred, Dick, Gordon and makes Two-Face genuinely threatening。 The character development and interactions are second to none。 Everything is played out in a satisfying way。 The villains are also engaging and the action scenes are exciting。 Dixon has also written perhaps my favourite Alfred in this book。 The art is fantastic, the writing, the pacing, the prose, it's all great。 It loosely fits in with the year one chronology in places but retains a sort of classic golden-age charm and is reminiscent in some places of my favourite Batman property, The Animated Series。For a long-time Batman reader, this book doesn't do anything wholly original per say, but the formula works and the character moments make this a really worthwhile read。 。。。more

Aside from the colorful artwork, there isn't much that makes this book stand out from other superhero stories。 It's all too familiar even to someone who is relatively new to the DC Universe: Mad Hatter is kidnapping people, Mr。 Freeze (without a tragic backstory) dials up the evil by holding blood hostage, and Two Face is acting evil again。 None of these stories are bad - just none are memorable and all are too predictable。Aside from the slight diversion of what I was expecting, it treads all to Aside from the colorful artwork, there isn't much that makes this book stand out from other superhero stories。 It's all too familiar even to someone who is relatively new to the DC Universe: Mad Hatter is kidnapping people, Mr。 Freeze (without a tragic backstory) dials up the evil by holding blood hostage, and Two Face is acting evil again。 None of these stories are bad - just none are memorable and all are too predictable。Aside from the slight diversion of what I was expecting, it treads all too familiar ground without changing up the formula too much。 It doesn't give much depth to Dick Grayson aside from a slight glimpse into his school life and establishing a dynamic with Alfred - both of which are not important to his character and can be seen in other entries。 This can easily be skipped without missing much of anything relating to Batman lore。 。。。more
