Summary

The future of the dark side hangs in the balance in the stunning conclusion to the Darth Bane series。

Twenty years have passed since the Sith and their endless rivalries were eradicated and replaced with the Rule of Two。 Darth Bane now reigns alongside his young acolyte, Zannah, who must study and train in the dark side of the Force until the time comes to strike down her master and claim the mantle for herself。

But Bane's brutal new regime has one potential fatal flaw--how will their legacy continue if an apprentice fails to raise their blade in combat? The only solution must be for the Dark Lord of the Sith to rediscover a long-forgotten secret of the order--the key to immortality。

Bane's doubt spurs his young apprentice into action, and Zannah vows to destroy her master at any cost。 After he mysteriously vanishes, she tracks him across the galaxy to a desolate desert outpost, where the fate of the dark side will be forged by a final fight to the death。

8。5/10Awesome conclusion to the Darth Bane trilogy with multiple characters from the first book making an appearance。 Can’t wait for someone to finally make a tv show/movie about this legend。 As the dark side ravages Darth Bane’s body, he seeks the secret to immortality。 But he must first confront demons from his past and his talented Sith Apprentice

The subplots aren't as strong as the first two books but the Evil Dead-esque showdown between master and apprentice was a great deal of fun。 Karpyshyn has a lot of love for the old republic era and I'm now forever a fan of the insidious sorcerer Darth Zannah。 Recommended。 The subplots aren't as strong as the first two books but the Evil Dead-esque showdown between master and apprentice was a great deal of fun。 Karpyshyn has a lot of love for the old republic era and I'm now forever a fan of the insidious sorcerer Darth Zannah。 Recommended。 。。。more

Similar to the previous two, interesting in the unique POV it offers (bad guy)。 But I really hated the too much spoon feeding (retelling of recent events again & again in details)

An interesting conclusion to the story。 It was ok, but about halfway through I found out that it was relegated to Legends instead of being Canon it shouldn't matter, but it did only because it would have been fun to see some of those characters broght to greater depth in future works。 An interesting conclusion to the story。 It was ok, but about halfway through I found out that it was relegated to Legends instead of being Canon it shouldn't matter, but it did only because it would have been fun to see some of those characters broght to greater depth in future works。 。。。more

The explosive finale to the Darth Bane trilogy。 I really loved everything about this book, with the exception of Darth Zannah's brief apprentice。 He didn't add anything and just seemed out of place。 Other than that, I loved the dynamic between Bane and Zannah。 The Huntress was a great character, and I wish we got more of her。 This trilogy is well worth the time to read。 The explosive finale to the Darth Bane trilogy。 I really loved everything about this book, with the exception of Darth Zannah's brief apprentice。 He didn't add anything and just seemed out of place。 Other than that, I loved the dynamic between Bane and Zannah。 The Huntress was a great character, and I wish we got more of her。 This trilogy is well worth the time to read。 。。。more

Very disappointed with the ending。 Feels like the story continues…but I’m not sure where。

I enjoyed Dynasty of Evil! It was a lighthearted read with nifty Legends factoids to pick up on along the way。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I am very conflicted on this。 This ended with the ultimate showdown of Zannah and Darth Bane。 The author made it very clear that Bane’s true skill with the force was his will and determination。 Bane’s spirit entered Zannah’s so he could overcome, and dispel her soul and he could essentially live forever by doing this。 Now, the author has also made everything ridiculously clear, zero subtlety。 UP UNTIL THE END。 The final chapter is told from a completely different characters perspective。 Whoever I am very conflicted on this。 This ended with the ultimate showdown of Zannah and Darth Bane。 The author made it very clear that Bane’s true skill with the force was his will and determination。 Bane’s spirit entered Zannah’s so he could overcome, and dispel her soul and he could essentially live forever by doing this。 Now, the author has also made everything ridiculously clear, zero subtlety。 UP UNTIL THE END。 The final chapter is told from a completely different characters perspective。 Whoever is in zannahs body does things reminiscent of Darth bane。 They speak more like bane than zannah, but she says she is zannah。 I thought it was pretty cool “you decide” it could be bane as every Sith Lord after。 I went online to see what others took away。 It was pretty similar to me。 I found a link to the authors personal website, and thought that would be good。 All he does is DRAG his readers。 “I made it very clear。 You are all jumping to so many conclusions。 What would bane have to gain from lying” etc。 Just insinuating his readers were stupid。 I thought it was cool and clever。 I guess I’m just an idiot。 Lol 。。。more

For the most part I liked seeing it all coming to a conclusion, though really there can be more, I think, to the story。 It was way more action packed than the last book which I really enjoyed。 I just feel like it repeated much of the same elements of the last book so it didn’t leave me surprised as it had before。 But ultimately I liked the characters they had developed and seeing it through。

Unfortunately the last part of the great trilogy。 Follow Darty Bane and Darth Zannah to the somewhat obvious yet nonetheless exciting culmination of the story。 Drew Karpyshyn doesn't disappoint in the final book, and it'll make you wish there was more! "I really liked it。" - 3。75 with a round up to a 4 out of 5 star rating。 The Darth Bane trilogy is true Dark Side/Sith greatness。 One of my favorite Star Wars trilogies by far。 The final entry of the Darth Bane series really focuses on the Rule of Two, Darth Bane's solution to expand the Sith Empire versus the endless web of betrayal and chaos prior to this limitation。 Other remarkable highlights are a deep dive into Dark Side corruption and what it does to the body - very fun。 Also the secret t "I really liked it。" - 3。75 with a round up to a 4 out of 5 star rating。 The Darth Bane trilogy is true Dark Side/Sith greatness。 One of my favorite Star Wars trilogies by far。 The final entry of the Darth Bane series really focuses on the Rule of Two, Darth Bane's solution to expand the Sith Empire versus the endless web of betrayal and chaos prior to this limitation。 Other remarkable highlights are a deep dive into Dark Side corruption and what it does to the body - very fun。 Also the secret to eternal life that so many Sith have pursued is unveiled in this, being (view spoiler)[ essence transfer 。。。 essentially possession of a target host, so theoretically a Sith Lord could just jump bodies for eternity if powerful enough (hide spoiler)]。 Lastly, his "relationship" with his Apprentice (take a look at the cover image) is also super fun in this one。 Such a great book。 The only reason why I did not give this a 5, is because there is no way I can rate this a higher score than Path of Destruction (https://www。goodreads。com/review/show。。。)。The Darth Bane trilogy follows the classic mold for most trilogies, where the first entry is amazing, hooks you in wanting for more。 The second book is the least exciting, where the author by default cannot initiate closure and at its very core its purpose is to extend the story as a bridge towards book #3 aka the conclusion/wrap-up。 Looking back, I may have rated book #2 a bit low (2/5 stars), but I will stick to my guns and hold my ground and not edit how I felt in the heat of the moment during the review。 Finally, the 3rd book finishes strong for an overall amazing tribute to Darth Bane that he deserved。Drew Karpyshyn + Star Wars so far has pretty much has a 100% win ratio right now, even with his mandatory filler book #2 of this series。 I really do like this author a lot and looking forward to getting my hands on more of his creative works。 Highly recommend the Darth Bane trilogy。 Absolutely good enough to buy physical copies and put on your bookshelf for sure。 。。。more

Worst ending ever! There needs to be a follow up to see what happens and who the heck is who! Leading up to the end was decent that’s the 3 * the ending could bring the rating to 1 * but I was nice!

This was the exciting end to the Darth Bane trilogy。 A number of loose ends are tied up and we learn what happened to Caleb's daughter and run into one of Des' old teammates。 Zannah looks for a new apprentice and we learn more of how the Sith set up their network。 The Jedi are not the same order as in later years, they are pompous and preachy。 Two interesting new characters are introduced, the Huntress and a Dark Jedi。 The differences between the Dark Jedi and Sith are quite interesting。 Of cour This was the exciting end to the Darth Bane trilogy。 A number of loose ends are tied up and we learn what happened to Caleb's daughter and run into one of Des' old teammates。 Zannah looks for a new apprentice and we learn more of how the Sith set up their network。 The Jedi are not the same order as in later years, they are pompous and preachy。 Two interesting new characters are introduced, the Huntress and a Dark Jedi。 The differences between the Dark Jedi and Sith are quite interesting。 Of course the main event is the final showdown between Master and apprentice, which is surprisingly short。 The ending is somewhat ambiguous and I suggest that you check out the author's page after you finish the book for insight into what happened。 This is a well written, exciting book that dark siders will particularly enjoy。 Several characters learn that the dark side price is very high。 。。。more

Bane never fails to make me laugh。 He decimated the Brotherhood of Darkness, abducted an orphan girl from a scarred planet, raised her to be a sociopath, and instituted The Rule of Two: only two Sith Lords could exist at any given time; a master to represent the power of the dark side of the Force, and an apprentice to train under the master and to one day fulfill their role。 But Zannah, his apprentice, is not playing by the rules he literally made up。 She seems content to let him age and wither Bane never fails to make me laugh。 He decimated the Brotherhood of Darkness, abducted an orphan girl from a scarred planet, raised her to be a sociopath, and instituted The Rule of Two: only two Sith Lords could exist at any given time; a master to represent the power of the dark side of the Force, and an apprentice to train under the master and to one day fulfill their role。 But Zannah, his apprentice, is not playing by the rules he literally made up。 She seems content to let him age and wither before she makes a move to kill him。 She is not doing it correctly, according to the guy who once wore crab bugs as armor。 Zannah, in the background, is biding her time by first finding an apprentice for herself before making a move to kill her master/dad figure。 She has other projects going on, okay! This is why I never would want to be a Sith – I mean yeah, the power is cool and all but it has been made clear that the Dark Side takes a massive toll on the body and miscommunication and mistrust seems rife。 In the background is there class struggle between the noble rich and the “lower castes” – those who have to toil and work so the nobles can chill out and think of ways to keep the lower classes in their place。 The rich get to have things easy。 Anything they want or need, they can buy or bribe their way into possessing an object or getting to travel at will。 Zannah makes it a point to be nice and pleasant (and tip) to the workers who fly the ships, who put away her bags, who help her as she goes about her day。 She is also quite attractive (and knows it) and is not afraid to utilize her looks and personality to get her way。 She is quite smart in this respect。 Make nice with the people who look after your stuff, because they will be of far more help than most politicians。 But whatever sympathy or empathy she possess does not extend to the miners she sees on Doan。 She, like others (*cough* *cough* conservatives and neo-liberals *cough*) thinks they deserve their fate。 That’s what you get for being poor! The Jedi have decided (through legislation and through the Council) to remain “neutral,” i。e。 keep up the status quo for the Senate, who are mostly made up of nobles。 The Jedi – even when they see clear examples of exploitation and abuse – seem to make excuses。 Well, they might have it bad here but I know of other planets where it’s worse! Well, that sucks but what are you going to do about it? Like, any wonder people don’t like you? Serra points out that the Jedi tend to feel superior and love answering questions, expanding on philosophy – rather than committing to any actual action。 The Jedi would rather believe the Sith are extinct than try to chase down the rumors and whispers to make sure the Sith are gone for good。 They are about rigidity, maintenance, and stasis, which eventually commits to their downfall and near genocide。 This book really expounds on the philosophy of the Jedi and the Sith。 One side seeks to destroy the other, while others point out that the Light cannot exist without the Dark。 It is a constant tug and pull, with neither side striving for balance。 I am really happy we get to see Lucia again。 Lucia and Des/Bane were kind of friends back in the day。 I think Drew Karpyshyn has a lot of fun writing badass women。 Githany, Zannah, Lucia, Serra, the Huntress, Darth Cognus – iconic characters (especially Zannah) in their own right。 Even tho it is Lucia’s fault (200%) that Darth Bane escapes from his prison when he was a couple of days away from joining the Afterlife。 I think the theme of this book is revenge and how it destroys people。 Serra’s main drive to avenge her father and to strike back at the big, scary man who scared her and her father so much。 Unfortunately, the plan goes awry – in part because of her own friend/protector – Lucia。 Lucia and “Des” (as she knew him) used to be soldiers in the Brotherhood of Darkness。 Lucia decides – out of misplaced loyalty – to save her old friend, who doesn’t give a fig about her。 Serra kind of reminds me of Maul when he finally has Kenobi during the Clone Wars series。 Vengeance doesn’t taste so sweet after all, and it doesn’t last as long as her wants。 Set Harth is a massive douche-canoe who manages to get himself out of every scrape。 Darth Zannah decides to make him her apprentice, finding no one else better across the entire universe。 One hell of a sweet talker too。 Legends material has him nicking the holocron of Darth Andeddu, learning how to complete an essence transfer, getting clone technology, and living well past the events of A New Hope, which is one hell of an adventure。 The last lightsaber battle is balls to the walls insane。 And so, so well written。 。。。more

Wow。 Just wow。 The perfect ending to this already spectacular book series。 While not as good as the 2nd book in the series, in my opinion, this book is still amazing。 Without saying any spoilers, the ending is the best I could possibly have asked for。 4。3 out of 5 (rounded down to 4)。

The end of Darth baneTo realise the truth behind the rule of two and how all the skills and experiences were accumulated within the sith。 I found this story to be both illuminating on the dark side and a way to reinforce the light。 Because even though the worlds and universe seem false the teachings and structures of these organizations can prove useful in life。

Peace is a lie。 There is only Passion。Through Passion I gain Strength。Through Strength I gain Power。Through Power I gain Victory。Through Victory my chains are Broken。The Force shall free me。In my opinion the third and last book in the Darth Bane trilogy is the best。 It keeps you on the edge of your seat through the whole thing。 Brilliantly written and the story is gripping。
