Overall, I didn’t love this anthology。 There were a couple stories I really enjoyed but the majority were a 3/5 or lower。 I do really like the idea of these stories all being based on romance tropes though。Individual ratings & reviews: Bye Bye, Piper Berry - Julie Murphy (Fake Relationship)2/5 - The actual fake dating storyline in this is okay, it seemed very much like what high school students would do。 My biggest issue was that I just didn’t like any of the characters。 Gabe was okay, but he mo Overall, I didn’t love this anthology。 There were a couple stories I really enjoyed but the majority were a 3/5 or lower。 I do really like the idea of these stories all being based on romance tropes though。Individual ratings & reviews: Bye Bye, Piper Berry - Julie Murphy (Fake Relationship)2/5 - The actual fake dating storyline in this is okay, it seemed very much like what high school students would do。 My biggest issue was that I just didn’t like any of the characters。 Gabe was okay, but he more so just wasn’t as bad as Piper or Travis。Anyone Else But You - Leah Johnson (Stranded Together)2。5/5 - This was okay, but forced proximity is basically my favourite trope and I’m disappointed that I didn’t enjoy this one more。 The story was fine, but the characters were only okay to me, and the ending felt a bit rushed。The Idiom Algorithm - Abigail Hing Wen (Class Warfare)3/5 - I liked this story, but more so just because I didn’t really care for the last two。 I was more so just interested in Willow, and I’m glad she was a main character because I didn’t really care for Rebecca。 Also, the last couple lines confused me a bit, but overall, this was a solid story。Auld Acquaintance - Caleb Roehrig (Best Friend Love Epiphany)4/5 - Cute!! There were times that the story felt quite young, but I like both of the main characters and the story was really cute。Shooting Stars - Marissa Meyer (One Bed)4。5/5 - This one is my favourite story so far。 I don’t want to use the word ‘cute’ to describe every story, but it really was very cute。 Super fun story and cute characters, and I love the one bed trope。 It didn’t feel like a full 5/5 for me, but I did really enjoy it。Keagan’s Heaven On Earth - Sarah Winifred Searle (Secret Admirer)3/5 - I really liked the art style and plus sized rep, but the story felt really quick and kind of undeveloped, to be honest。 The secret admirer trope was very minor。 It was a fine story, just a bit underwhelming。Zora In The Spotlight - Elise Bryant (Grand Romantic Gesture)2/5 - I liked the writing style of this story, but nothing else really worked for me。 I was super intrigued at the beginning because of that, but I really disliked the story and the direction it took。 I would be interested in looking into another story by Elise Bryant after this though。In The Blink Of The Eye - Elizabeth Eulberg (Trapped In A Confined Space)1。5/5 - I was very firm on giving this a 1/5 because I hated this, but the name of the person introduced at the end made me smile so I will reluctantly bump my rating up to a 1。5/5。 But this was definitely my least favourite story, and considering I said earlier that I like forced proximity stories, how disappointing。Liberty - Anna-Marie McLemore (Makeover)DNF - To be totally honest, I dnf’ed this on page 7 or so, so I didn’t get too far into it。 I just don’t have an interest in cheerleading or makeup, so I felt like I was doing a disservice to myself and the story if I read it because I knew my rating wouldn’t be high since those things just aren’t my personal interest or what I care to read about。The Surprise Match - Sandhya Menon (Matchmaker)3/5 - This story was a good way to end this anthology。 Only a 3/5 because I didn’t love this authors writing style, and the characters were only okay to me, but I thought the matchmaking program that Rosie came up was a cool story。 。。。more

Thank you to @macmillan。audio for the ALC in return for my honest review。。My thoughts…Diverse。 I was attracted by the great mix of YA authors and narrators。 We all know that with romance/romcom tropes we pretty much know how it’s going to end。 But still, some fell flat for me。 There were only a couple that stood out, such as the one written by Marissa Meyer。 The narrators were a hit and miss too: some just didn’t seem to fit or seemed exaggerated and a couple were just great, like Natalie Naudus Thank you to @macmillan。audio for the ALC in return for my honest review。。My thoughts…Diverse。 I was attracted by the great mix of YA authors and narrators。 We all know that with romance/romcom tropes we pretty much know how it’s going to end。 But still, some fell flat for me。 There were only a couple that stood out, such as the one written by Marissa Meyer。 The narrators were a hit and miss too: some just didn’t seem to fit or seemed exaggerated and a couple were just great, like Natalie Naudus。 I did appreciate the diversity and representation in this anthology though。 I wonder if it would have been better in a book format for me。 But, as I’ve said before, don’t take my word for it, there are many positive reviews out there。 。。。more

Fake dating and the one bed trope are my favs。 This is so cute!Fake dating: Piper and Gabriel have been friends and neighbours for years and Gabriel has been in love with her for just as long。 After a bad breakup piper enlists Gabe as her fake boyfriend, with a strict set of rules。 But when sparks fly, sometimes rules are made to be broken。This has pining and close proximity, and as a necessity, amazingly cute bookish boyfriends with swoon worthy moments。

This is cute。 Don't usually read comps of smaller stories because I can't get connected to the characters the way I can in full-length novels, but for what its worth, the stories are sweet and nice for v-day。 This is cute。 Don't usually read comps of smaller stories because I can't get connected to the characters the way I can in full-length novels, but for what its worth, the stories are sweet and nice for v-day。 。。。more

I felt that some of the relationships felt too rushed, but I'm flexible because I know that it is hard to have extensive character development in such a short story。 <3 I felt that some of the relationships felt too rushed, but I'm flexible because I know that it is hard to have extensive character development in such a short story。 <3 。。。more

As with any compilation of short stories, there were a few hits and several misses for me。 In general, I liked the diversity and overall fluffy romance of the stories compiled here, but there were a couple of standout favorites。 The first was Shooting Stars, and the second was Zora in the Spotlight。 I thought both did fun twists on the tropes they were representing。 In all honesty, though, in the weeks since I read this, I've forgotten what most of the others were even about, so most of the stor As with any compilation of short stories, there were a few hits and several misses for me。 In general, I liked the diversity and overall fluffy romance of the stories compiled here, but there were a couple of standout favorites。 The first was Shooting Stars, and the second was Zora in the Spotlight。 I thought both did fun twists on the tropes they were representing。 In all honesty, though, in the weeks since I read this, I've forgotten what most of the others were even about, so most of the stories weren't all that memorable to me。I'd say it was a fun and fluffy read, quick and breezy and lighthearted。 Great for when you just want a little pick-me-up with no commitment needed。 。。。more

Overall, this was a tad bit disappointing。 I have no friends who've read this anthology yet so I was left unaware of what I was going to get from this。 And yeah, I enjoyed liked 2 stories which sucks。 Individual ratings:Bye Bye, Piper Berry2/5: If I think about it, this is actually worse than all the other books I've rated 2 stars but I didn't want to give it 1 because that's reserved for the books that really infuriates me。 But to the actualy story。 It kinda felt like Piper was taking advantage Overall, this was a tad bit disappointing。 I have no friends who've read this anthology yet so I was left unaware of what I was going to get from this。 And yeah, I enjoyed liked 2 stories which sucks。 Individual ratings:Bye Bye, Piper Berry2/5: If I think about it, this is actually worse than all the other books I've rated 2 stars but I didn't want to give it 1 because that's reserved for the books that really infuriates me。 But to the actualy story。 It kinda felt like Piper was taking advantage of Gabe。 She just seemed really toxic and I didn't like that。 Every decision she made was because of Travis。 Like, girl, get over it and go after your man。 And I liked Gabe but the fact that he was still friends with Travis even after knowing he cheated on his girlfriend at the time (who he literally had a crush on) was super icky。 Anyone Else But You3/5: I get that this is an anthology so obviously all the stories would be short but this one felt way too rushed。 Perry's feelings literally materialized out of thin air。 I also found it hard to relate to her or Jada。 There was so much potential too。 It could've been so good。The Idiom Algorithm1/5: Oh would you look at that。 I actually ended up rating one of these 1 star。 Disrespectfully, fuck you Rebecca。 This story didn't exactly turn out how I expected it to。 I thought she would end up being some misunderstood character to be honest。 But no, she's a roach。 Also, Tan was a little too obsessive over her。 It was super weird to read。 And don't even get me started on that transition from Rebecca to Winter。 Made absolutely no sense。 Really threw me for a loop。 Winter is okay though。Auld Acquaintance2/5: I have a problem with the way all of these stories start off with the two characters not even showing a hint of love towards each other。 And, again, I get they're short stories, but maybe try fading into the realization better。 Also the way their relationship was based on being interested in other people。。。 Anyways, I thought this one was kinda cringey。 They were just insanely petty。Shooting Stars4/5: Marissa Meyer never misses。 Like, damn, this was so cute。 The way they're so awkward around each other? Yeah, I was mentally squealing throughout this entire story。 I love young, innocent love。Keagan's Heaven On Earth2/5: I wasn't expecting a graphic novel in this so I was pleasantly surprised。 And the illustration was cute so plus points。 The problem though was I didn't know what was going on。 It was just so short so I didn't really get to know the characters。Zora in the Spotlight1/5: This might be the messiest and worst planned out thing I've ever read。 It was just incredibly unrealistic and super hard to follow along with。 The story wasn't romantic and the whole big gesture thing wasn't even meant to be directed towards Zora in the first place。 It felt more like just learning about how she doesn't fit in as that's all she talks about。 I don't get what Astrid had to do with this either。 Also, I got so much second hand embarrassment。 What is actually wrong with Dean? What went through his head when he decided to plan this whole charade for Lulu? How was he crushing on a girl so hard when all she did was respond to his comments? I'm actually in shock right now。 There's no way he thought all that would work out。In a Blink of the Eye0/5: I'm sorry but what the fuck is this? This anthology is on a roll if it was planning to piss me off。 It's literally gotten to the point where I'm taking liberties with the rating right now。 Okay, first of all, Morgan's weird fetishization of British people and their culture threw me off。 She was really over the top about that obsession and it was slightly annoying。 Fine, it was really annoying。 But her hatred for Tyler? And the fact she was so focused on hating him for the whole first few pages made no sense。 What was even the point of adding him into the story? And why is the love interest appearing at the END? I hated this。Liberty3/5: This one was a little confusing because my knowledge on cheerleading is close to nothing。 But it wasn't as bad as the other ones。 It had a nice flow actually。 And (shocker) I didn't hate the main characters in this story this time。 Hurrah。 Camila is really nice, I love her。 And she's so confident too。 The vibe is just immaculate。 Also, reading how Ximena gains confidence towards the end was really heartwarming。 The Surprise Match4/5: This was one of the few I actually enjoyed (obviously)。 The story and characters were really cute and, even though Rosie annoyed me a little because she was so oblivious, I liked how nerdy they are。 The best friends to lovers trope remains at a high spot on my favorite romance trope hierarchy。 I took a point off my rating though because of that whole singing scene。 It was kinda corny, I'm sorry。 。。。more

I enjoyed this anthology。 Did any of the stories blow me away? Nope, but none of them were bad either so all in all the stories were entertaining and light hearted。 The tropes were a bit hard to pick out on occasion, and some were not as subversive or "turning them on their heads" as I expected from the book description。 A few were unexpected, but most of them stuck to the tropes pretty closely。Fun read for sure。 I enjoyed this anthology。 Did any of the stories blow me away? i loooove a good short story anthology, especially romance ones。 however, there’s always some that just not my cup of tea compared to the others, affecting my overall enjoyment。 oftentimes, my biggest problems were the pacing of the story and how unrealistic the characters’ dialogue was。 my favorites: Anyone Else But You, Shooting Stars, and Libertyoverall though, a cute anthology with lots of diversity that was perfect to read right before valentine’s day!!

This anthology was okay。 3 of the stories stood out to me in particular, Marissa Meyer’s of course, the New Years Eve lock in one, and the last one with the matchmaking program。 The rest were just okay。 So 3 stars because those stories saved this from a 2 star。 I would say if you can read those 3, I would because they were funny and enjoyable and the narrators for those on the audiobook were good。

A very interesting idea。 Rewriting basic romance tropes and putting them all together。 Not my typical scene but the fact that there were 10 different shorts in this book and I didn’t have to spend an entire book on just one had me intrigued。 The part I loved the most: not all hetero couples。 Good job。 I was pleasantly surprised and even found myself being sad that some of those stories didn’t continue。 I am sad though that not one included a trans relationship, but I’m glad there was some other A very interesting idea。 Rewriting basic romance tropes and putting them all together。 Not my typical scene but the fact that there were 10 different shorts in this book and I didn’t have to spend an entire book on just one had me intrigued。 The part I loved the most: not all hetero couples。 Good job。 I was pleasantly surprised and even found myself being sad that some of those stories didn’t continue。 I am sad though that not one included a trans relationship, but I’m glad there was some other representation。 Each story was a really quick read。 I liked some more than others, but for the most part enjoyed the characters and their little shorts。 I also think each author did a pretty good job depicting their short。 There were some that did better than others, but for the most part, I was at least invested enough to keep reading the story to the end。 Quick read。 Fun。 Might even check out a few new young adult authors as a result。 👍 。。。more
