The bit of backstory with Marcille and Falin was cute。 Unfortunate that one of the new characters is named Kaka tho

*This is a review for both Vol 2 & Vol 3, since I read them one right after the other that I can't remember where one ended and the next began。 So the review will be the same under both reviews*I read the first volume of Delicious in Dungeon last year at the recommendation of a member of my virtual graphic novel book group。 And boy am I finding it a lot of fun! (To the point that as soon as I finished vols 2 & 3, I immediately requested the remaining books from the library。) The first book gave a little background to the world and the main characters, and the recipes were ones that made me want to make a cook character for one of my D&D games。The next two volumes not only bring the characters a bit closer and delve a little farther down into the dungeon, but it starts to give us some backstory of both the characters and the castle that is the dungeon。 The recipes branch out into into more than just sustenance - including a holy water bomb and some soap。 The characters become closer and start trusting and relying on each other a bit more。 One of the characters from the first book reappears, and a new set of (very) unlucky adventurers crosses our groups path a couple times。 There was a great moment with an Orc encampment that had been pushed out of their own homes at a lower level, especially with looking at the next generation in the Orc child。 It was a wonderful little bit of "we thinking beings aren't that different"。I really can't wait to see what happens in the next several books for our daring adventuring party, and if they manage to find and save their dragon-eaten party member before it's too late! 。。。more
Carolyn Klassen,
I needed something light to read while I'm currently working on How Beautiful We Were (which is dense and sad) and this suited the bill perfectly。 Fun adventures with monsters and cooking。 I needed something light to read while I'm currently working on How Beautiful We Were (which is dense and sad) and this suited the bill perfectly。 Fun adventures with monsters and cooking。 。。。more

Honestly, one of the best manga series I've read, second to Witch Hat Atelier。 It's like a genre-busting Dungeons and Dragons adventure with tons of lore packed into it。 Honestly, one of the best manga series I've read, second to Witch Hat Atelier。 It's like a genre-busting Dungeons and Dragons adventure with tons of lore packed into it。 。。。more

Perhaps inspired a bit by other manga series I'm reading (i。e。 The Girl from the Other Side, How Do We Relationship?) Colby Mcmurry,
I’ll admit I was ready to abandon this series at this point even though I did find it humorous and a fun read, but the plot and lore are really expanding starting here enough to keep me invested。
Olivia,
Again very cute manga and the story is picking up!
marcia,

Leslie,
I really enjoy these books, but some of the art involving the water spirit was difficult to understand。 The story is still funny and I enjoy the characters, but I docked a star for having to study some pages multiple times to figure out what was going on。

This is such a delightful series。 Great character developmentFun monstersCan’t wait to continue
Nicolo,
This series is always good for the laughs, especially if it's at the cost of Elvish common sense (poor Marcille)。 Although the series is mostly about subjugating monsters and consuming them for nutrition, another common theme is food sustainability without straining the dungeon ecosystem。This series never ceases to be interesting。 This series is always good for the laughs, especially if it's at the cost of Elvish common sense (poor Marcille)。 Although the series is mostly about subjugating monsters and consuming them for nutrition, another common theme is food sustainability without straining the dungeon ecosystem。This series never ceases to be interesting。 。。。more
Sarah,
I really appreciate the fact that the vast majority of the conflicts in this book are resolved by being genuinely clever and intelligent (and more than a little lucky) rather than just force of fists and magic and persistence (which, TBH, is how a lot of conflicts get solved in video games and D&D, in my experience)。 Anyway。 Another excellent installment! Looking forward to reading Book 4!

Food dungeon continuesThis volume had an emphasis on the ecological systems behind the food present in the dungeon--a mainstay of the food manga genre and refreshing in this context。

Monster cooking manga that delights in the weird and the absurd。 I was terrified this would fall under the category of yet another isekai manga。 I was so wrong。 It has all the trappings of an isekai manga - a mysterious dungeon, riches promised to those who can clear it, motley crews that set out complete the dungeon and claim the riches that reside therein。Our story opens on a 6 strong crew that are fighting the fable red dragon。 Disaster strikes when our lead character, swordsman Laos, watches Monster cooking manga that delights in the weird and the absurd。 I was terrified this would fall under the category of yet another isekai manga。 I was so wrong。 It has all the trappings of an isekai manga - a mysterious dungeon, riches promised to those who can clear it, motley crews that set out complete the dungeon and claim the riches that reside therein。Our story opens on a 6 strong crew that are fighting the fable red dragon。 Disaster strikes when our lead character, swordsman Laos, watches his sister Falin get eaten by the dragon in front of his very eyes。 Falin, aware of her imminent death, teleports the rest of her party to the safety of the dungeon surface。 Two members of the party bail, leaving the human Laos, elf mage Marcille, and halfling rogue Chilchuck to mourn the loss of Falin。 Laios, determined to rescue his sister, calculates the time it would take the dragon to full digest his sister (yes really) and sets out to fight the dragon again to retrieve her body and have her magically revived。 The problem is that during their last fight, they lose the majority of their items, food and gold。 Leaving them no way to survive the harshness of the dungeon。 Laios has plan though。 By eating the monsters in the dungeon they save money and keep themselves alive, much to the horror of Marcille。 It becomes apparent quickly that this has always been a goal of Laos, and he is using the situation to perpetuate his dream。 Aided by the dwarf chef Senshi, who has been eating these dungeon creatures for year, the team look to regain their fallen party member whilst cooking their way through the dungeon。 What ensues is hilarity and hijinks。 The art and incidental panel humour is incredible。This was genuinely a joy to read and the series has gone from strength to strength。 I am eagerly awaiting more in this series。 。。。more
