Summary

The National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book of Animals is an adorable animal reference sure to be welcomed by parents and librarians alike。 Filled with fluffy and scaly creatures big and small, this appealing book introduces the youngest explorers to the world of wildlife, using a child-friendly format inspired by the blockbuster National Geographic Little Kids magazine。 This exciting new reference for the very young mirrors the magazine’s square shape, readable fonts, and fun content, to keep little ones thrilled with every colorful page。

Little Kids First Big Book of Animals devotes four pages each to 32 high-interest creatures, including dolphins, tigers, butterflies, frogs, penguins, wolves, and pandas。 More than 150 of National Geographic’s most charming animal photos illustrate the profiles, which feature just the kind of facts that little kids want to know—the creature’s size, diet, home, and more。

Child-friendly text explains how animal parents take care of their young, how baby animals change as they grow, and how they learn to hunt and eat。 The brief text, large type, and appealing profiles are perfect for young readers to enjoy on their own, or for parents and other caregivers to read aloud。 These animal tales will quickly become favorites at storytime, bedtime, and any other time。

Fascinating for little kids and big kids (aka grownups)。 Love the large format, bounty of photos, fun questions and activities。 Can't wait to share with the 5 year old grandboy who has discovered the joy of nonfiction。 Will need to get him the rest of the series。 Fascinating for little kids and big kids (aka grownups)。 Love the large format, bounty of photos, fun questions and activities。 Can't wait to share with the 5 year old grandboy who has discovered the joy of nonfiction。 Will need to get him the rest of the series。 。。。more

Great informational text for young kids。 Pages give simple easy to read facts and images of different animals。 The animals are divided into five major regions of where they would most likely live (grassland, ocean, desert, forest, polar)。 Pages ask questions to the reader that make the information educational and/or relatable。

Con mi hijo de 5 1/2 años ya hemos leído dos de los libros de está colección y son muy interesantes tanto para él como para mi, manejan unas fotos muy buenas y los textos son claros。

Great! I loved the size, variety and quality of the illustrations, fun facts included and interactive questions (although baby is too small for the questions yet)。 Definitely need to revisit this later。

Jessica

Beautiful pictures and plenty of information for kids that is easier to understand than some more in depth books。 The index has maps and additional detailed information as well。 A solid book to add to a home library。

The photos of the baby animals are so cute that they are the highlight of the book。 They show the fact of life - growth。 Cultivating a growth mindset starts here。。。

As with the others in this series, this is a fun book full of great information geared towards a younger audience。 None of it is overwhelming, but neither is it missing anything important for a good overview of wildlife - from ocean to land。 If you have a kid with a science inclination or a love of all animals big and small, this is a great book to get them。

This children's magazine is a great way for children to learn about the current events of everyday life。 It is a type of magazine that is not boring and is full of interesting facts。 i enjoyed learning about different events in the world that I did not know before, and it had some pretty cool pictures of different kinds of animals。 I would recommend this magazine to children who are not a big fan of reading books and want to look at interesting pictures or facts。 This children's magazine is a great way for children to learn about the current events of everyday life。 It is a type of magazine that is not boring and is full of interesting facts。 i enjoyed learning about different events in the world that I did not know before, and it had some pretty cool pictures of different kinds of animals。 I would recommend this magazine to children who are not a big fan of reading books and want to look at interesting pictures or facts。 。。。more

This book went through and told facts on a variety of well known animals, specifically to those children typically see while at the zoo。 This book discussed facts such as: kind of animal, home, size, food, sounds, and babies。 I loved this National Geographic Kids book! I am so glad I bought this book for my classroom。

Julie

Beautiful photos, easy to understand, and no evolution。

A great book to start your child's library。 I completely ignored the recommended age which is 4-8 years and started reading this with my daughter since she was 18 months。The pictures are the best part of this book which means you can enjoy this book just by pointing at the pictures and naming all the animals and their activities。 She learned so much and I learned some trivia along the way。After she learned all the pictures, I started to read some of the facts while rereading this book。And later, A great book to start your child's library。 I completely ignored the recommended age which is 4-8 years and started reading this with my daughter since she was 18 months。The pictures are the best part of this book which means you can enjoy this book just by pointing at the pictures and naming all the animals and their activities。 She learned so much and I learned some trivia along the way。After she learned all the pictures, I started to read some of the facts while rereading this book。And later, she can read the book herself and enjoy it yet again。I definitely got my money's worth with this book and I believe you will too。 。。。more

July 2017 - totally fascinating for both of us。 It's divided up by habitat type (forest, ocean, desert, etc。) with two spreads per animal。 There's a quick fact box for each, then a narrative that takes each animal from birth into maturity。 The focus on baby animals/family groups is perfect for a preschool/early elementary audience, and there's always a suggested question or two for the child reading that relates something about the animal to their own life。 We read it in chunks over a few nights July 2017 - totally fascinating for both of us。 It's divided up by habitat type (forest, ocean, desert, etc。) with two spreads per animal。 There's a quick fact box for each, then a narrative that takes each animal from birth into maturity。 The focus on baby animals/family groups is perfect for a preschool/early elementary audience, and there's always a suggested question or two for the child reading that relates something about the animal to their own life。 We read it in chunks over a few nights, and Ben was always eager to get back to it。 This would be a nice one to own and dip into over and over, and I've already put some others in the series on hold。 。。。more

This book reviews all about different animals and the way they live。 The photos are vibrant and sweet。 Great information throughout the book。As the book I received was a "put me in the story" book, I personalized it to include my grandson in the book。 This one talks mainly about how the babies of each animal is born and their relationship with their parents。 I love it!These books are just awesome and well worth getting them for your child or grandchild。 I give this book 5 stars。Disclosure: I rec This book reviews all about different animals and the way they live。 The photos are vibrant and sweet。 Great information throughout the book。As the book I received was a "put me in the story" book, I personalized it to include my grandson in the book。 This one talks mainly about how the babies of each animal is born and their relationship with their parents。 I love it!These books are just awesome and well worth getting them for your child or grandchild。 I give this book 5 stars。Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the author。 The review expressed here is 100% my own and may differ from yours。 ~M。M。 aka Naila Moon 。。。more

What an awesome book! I love animals and this is an amazing way to share that love with kids。 This book has short blurbs about each animal with lots of vivid pictures。 Kids enjoy to look at the diagrams showing how big the animal is compared to a human, and to see where in the world it lives。 The beauty of this book is that you can read it straight through, or you can skip around to learn about animals in a wide verity of habitats。 Very interesting book and a great addition to any library for ch What an awesome book!
