I liked it because of the flaps and the high quality production。 The storytelling was expected though, and a little awkward because of the almost lilting rhymes

This is an Easter version of "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" and not destined to be a reread in our house。 The illustrations of the bunnies are cute and I'm sure many children will enjoy the lift-the-flap element, but I found the text clunky, and really did not like the introduction of the stereotypical evil wolf scaring away all the bunnies。 I know the whole predator/prey thing, but I'm really tired of wolves being the "bad guy" in children's literature--besides which, it just seems so discordant This is an Easter version of "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" and not destined to be a reread in our house。 The illustrations of the bunnies are cute and I'm sure many children will enjoy the lift-the-flap element, but I found the text clunky, and really did not like the introduction of the stereotypical evil wolf scaring away all the bunnies。 I know the whole predator/prey thing, but I'm really tired of wolves being the "bad guy" in children's literature--besides which, it just seems so discordant and I prefer more cheerful and harmonious books for Eastertime。 (The final illustration of the wolf (view spoiler)[eating some chocolate eggs (hide spoiler)] might be trying to ease up a bit on the harsh portrayal but to me (view spoiler)[。he still looks kinda creepy and the chocolate smears around his mouth look almost red (hide spoiler)]) 。。。more

What fun? Now, it doesn't immediately read as well as We're Going on a Bear Hunt。 Still, it's delightful!!! I want to do this one! What fun? Now, it doesn't immediately read as well as We're Going on a Bear Hunt。 Still, it's delightful!!! I want to do this one! 。。。more

I love this new take on the popular book 'we're going on a bear hunt'。 Perfect for foundation stage and KS1。 This is a very interactive book that younger children will enjoy touching and reading along with。 It is a great introduction to teaching young children about easter as it introduces you to many different easter animals and themes。 Lovely book。 I love this new take on the popular book 'we're going on a bear hunt'。 Perfect for foundation stage and KS1。 This is a very interactive book that younger children will enjoy touching and reading along with。 It is a great introduction to teaching young children about easter as it introduces you to many different easter animals and themes。 Lovely book。 。。。more

A lift-the-flap Easter Egg hunt book? Brilliant! Like "why didn't I think of that" brilliant。 But the story, such as it is, is really flat。 A lift-the-flap Easter Egg hunt book? Brilliant! Like "why didn't I think of that" brilliant。 But the story, such as it is, is really flat。 。。。more

I did a story time in my place of work for Easter and this story went down a treat。 The kids could make up moves to go along with some parts of the story and because some of the story is repeated they got into reading with me。Worth a look if you have some children who love to read with you。

We're Going on an Egg Hunt is a children's picture book written and illustrated by Laura Hughes。 It is a book about a warren of rabbits going on an egg hunt。 As it is the first day of the Easter long weekend, I thought reading this book would be apropos。The text is simplistic and lyrical。 It is written in the similar style of "We're Going on a Bear Hunt", which followed the rhythm and style of the original book rather well。 The illustrations are depicted rather well, using light pastel colors th We're Going on an Egg Hunt is a children's picture book written and illustrated by Laura Hughes。 It is a book about a warren of rabbits going on an egg hunt。 As it is the first day of the Easter long weekend, I thought reading this book would be apropos。The text is simplistic and lyrical。 It is written in the similar style of "We're Going on a Bear Hunt", which followed the rhythm and style of the original book rather well。 The illustrations are depicted rather well, using light pastel colors that are notable for the Easter holidays。The premise of the book is rather straightforward。 It follows a warren or family of rabbits as they go on the hunt for Easter eggs and encountering several obstacles along the way from lambs, chicks, bees, ducks, and even a dangerous wolf。All in all, We're Going on an Egg Hunt is a wonderful children's book done in the style of "We're Going on an Bear Hunt"。 It is a story about a warren of rabbits hunting for Easter eggs and encountering many obstacles along the way。 。。。more

An Easter take on the classic "We're Going On A Bear Hunt" with flaps for the children to partake in finding the eggs。 While it's nicely illustrated and enjoyable, it is missing much of the fun which the original tale has having been simplified for younger readers。 An Easter take on the classic "We're Going On A Bear Hunt" with flaps for the children to partake in finding the eggs。 While it's nicely illustrated and enjoyable, it is missing much of the fun which the original tale has having been simplified for younger readers。 。。。more

While I can't say this book is great, it is an excellent example of how an abundance of visual detail can camouflage some very well-considered foreshadowing。 While I can't say this book is great, it is an excellent example of how an abundance of visual detail can camouflage some very well-considered foreshadowing。 。。。more

This book was given to us as an Easter present for F。 It's a take on 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt'。 Whilst as an adult I don't think the rhyme quite works, my little one loves this book。 The illustrations are cute and colourful and a lift-the-flap book is always a hit in this house。 He loved the part where the bunnies have to go through the different animal pens and giggled like crazy when we made the different animal noises。 All in all its a fun, cute Easter story that little ones will love -jus This book was given to us as an Easter present for F。 It's a take on 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt'。 Whilst as an adult I don't think the rhyme quite works, my little one loves this book。 The illustrations are cute and colourful and a lift-the-flap book is always a hit in this house。 He loved the part where the bunnies have to go through the different animal pens and giggled like crazy when we made the different animal noises。 All in all its a fun, cute Easter story that little ones will love -just not one of the greats of children's literature。 。。。more

This is a take on 'Going on a Bear Hunt'。 This is more simple, every takes is the same, can't go over, around or under so gotta go through。 In bear hunt, you have to do all kinds of things。 So the writing is not great。The illustrations are filled with movement, energy, and fun。 My nephew goes crazy for a lift the flaps book so this was a huge hit。 A request to read it twice。 I do like that some flaps had something other than an egg。 That was a nice touch。This is a fun and cute book。 Great for th This is a take on 'Going on a Bear Hunt'。 This is more simple, every takes is the same, can't go over, around or under so gotta go through。 In bear hunt, you have to do all kinds of things。 So the writing is not great。The illustrations are filled with movement, energy, and fun。 My nephew goes crazy for a lift the flaps book so this was a huge hit。 A request to read it twice。 I do like that some flaps had something other than an egg。 That was a nice touch。This is a fun and cute book。 Great for the young ones。 Happy EASTER。 。。。more

Set to the "tune" of Going on a Bear Hunt, this book follows bunnies as they hope across a barnyard looking for eggs。 There are flaps to lift - each with a numbered egg hidden underneath。 At the end there is, of course, a giant blue egg - #10。 But there's a big surprise inside this egg that causes the bunnies to scurry back across the yard to the safety of their home。 But there's a delicious finale since everyone gets to eat chocolate eggs in the end。 The pages are a little thicker than a normal Set to the "tune" of Going on a Bear Hunt, this book follows bunnies as they hope across a barnyard looking for eggs。 There are flaps to lift - each with a numbered egg hidden underneath。 At the end there is, of course, a giant blue egg - #10。 But there's a big surprise inside this egg that causes the bunnies to scurry back across the yard to the safety of their home。 But there's a delicious finale since everyone gets to eat chocolate eggs in the end。 The pages are a little thicker than a normal picture book and the flaps seems sturdy。 You might want to add an extra layer of tape at the flap seam, just to increase shelf life a bit longer。 This could be used in a storytime for ages 3 and up。 Lots of opportunities for interaction。 。。。more

We picked this one up at the library with Easter coming up。 The art is super cute, and O loves finding all of the eggs (and other things) under the flaps。 However。。。the 'story' is a horrible bastardization of We're Going on a Bear Hunt。 It lacks that book's rhythm and charm and I groan at my child's enthusiasm for the flaps because I do not want to read this book one more time。 We'll just play with the flaps and enjoy finding different color eggs and slamming the door on the wolf。。。 We picked this one up at the library with Easter coming up。 The art is super cute, and O loves finding all of the eggs (and other things) under the flaps。 However。。。the 'story' is a horrible bastardization of We're Going on a Bear Hunt。 It lacks that book's rhythm and charm and I groan at my child's enthusiasm for the flaps because I do not want to read this book one more time。 We'll just play with the flaps and enjoy finding different color eggs and slamming the door on the wolf。。。 。。。more

This is an adorable Easter book that is perfect for pre-schoolers。 It can be used to teach the ascending order of numbers to toddlers and pre-schoolers in a story like fashion。 The illustrations are bright, pastel colors, perfect for spring。
