Summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L。 Armentrout comes book three in her Blood and Ash series…

She's been the victim and the survivor…

Poppy never dreamed she would find the love she’s found with Prince Casteel。 She wants to revel in her happiness but first they must free his brother and find hers。 It’s a dangerous mission and one with far-reaching consequences neither dreamed of。 Because Poppy is the Chosen, the Blessed。 The true ruler of Atlantia。 She carries the blood of the King of Gods within her。 By right the crown and the kingdom are hers。

The enemy and the warrior…

Poppy has only ever wanted to control her own life, not the lives of others, but now she must choose to either forsake her birthright or seize the gilded crown and become the Queen of Flesh and Fire。 But as the kingdoms’ dark sins and blood-drenched secrets finally unravel, a long-forgotten power rises to pose a genuine threat。 And they will stop at nothing to ensure that the crown never sits upon Poppy’s head。

A lover and heartmate…

But the greatest threat to them and to Atlantia is what awaits in the far west, where the Queen of Blood and Ash has her own plans, ones she has waited hundreds of years to carry out。 Poppy and Casteel must consider the impossible—travel to the Lands of the Gods and wake the King himself。 And as shocking secrets and the harshest betrayals come to light, and enemies emerge to threaten everything Poppy and Casteel have fought for, they will discover just how far they are willing to go for their people—and each other。

And now she will become Queen…

Thoughts - Boring, repetitive, exposition dumps, overpowered MC and subpar romance - I could not force myself to finish this book - This series has ruined Honeydew for me

it’s been months and I tried to open it and failed to read more than 3 sentences ✋🏽😭 call me if the next one has a threesome in it and maybe I’ll read that scene only

This book was a bit of a struggle for me。 The beginning was great and full of excitement, but the middle of the book fell flat。 I struggled to make it through and found myself annoyed with certain aspects。 Things such as Poppy asking too many questions and Kieran being annoyed, grew to get old。 The last of the book made up for the middle in the end。 All the sudden I was roped right back in and couldn’t get enough, I can’t wait to see what happens next。 Worth the read, just have to push through s This book was a bit of a struggle for me。 The beginning was great and full of excitement, but the middle of the book fell flat。 I struggled to make it through and found myself annoyed with certain aspects。 Things such as Poppy asking too many questions and Kieran being annoyed, grew to get old。 The last of the book made up for the middle in the end。 All the sudden I was roped right back in and couldn’t get enough, I can’t wait to see what happens next。 Worth the read, just have to push through some boring bits! 。。。more

This book was everything that I hoped for and more! Poppy spends more time with the side characters, forming individual bonds with them and helping bring their personalities to light for the reader。 Atlantia and other locations in the book are once again described in gorgeous detail, although I do wish that Armentrout was a little better at describing the relative positions of different cities and landmarks。 I appreciate how Poppy and Casteel's relationship is healthier now and based on equality This book was everything that I hoped for and more! Poppy spends more time with the side characters, forming individual bonds with them and helping bring their personalities to light for the reader。 Atlantia and other locations in the book are once again described in gorgeous detail, although I do wish that Armentrout was a little better at describing the relative positions of different cities and landmarks。 I appreciate how Poppy and Casteel's relationship is healthier now and based on equality, but there are times when I wished that Armentrout would focus less on their physical attraction and more on their emotional one。 Casteel's one-track mind occasionally has bad timing, making it seem like he lacks critical thinking skills。 At one point in the last book, Poppy mentioned that she wanted to get to know more about Casteel's past and the various aspects of his personality; while we certainly get some insights into his character in this book, they're still not frequent or detailed enough。 I loved learning more about Kieran's personality beyond his obvious loyalty, and I hope that in the future he can come up with other things to tease Poppy about besides her endless questions。 But it's not just him—many of the characters desperately need to add to their roster of inside jokes and entertaining banter, because some of the older quips have been repeated too often。 Poppy's internal monologue remains engrossing, as she has to continually re-evaluate her identity, but I wish there was more of a focus on her internal growth than her adjustment to external factors。 She takes everything in stride—including her new powers—but it would've been more interesting to see her falter in her confidence and question herself for a bit。 I loved watching Queen Ileana emerge as a truly fantastic and complex villain, and the tension could've been drawn out even longer if she wasn't as forthcoming with Poppy。 That being said, the drama in this novel was not only saucy, it was downright brutal。 Every time I thought the plot couldn't get wilder, it did! Everything that was built up in the second book came to fruition in a delightful manner, with tons of action and surprises, and I'm guessing that book four will bring even more drama。 March 2022 can't come soon enough!Read more of my reviews at fallingintofiction。weebly。com 。。。more

My favorite from the series so far! I loved the plot, the romance and the smut。 *chefs kiss* Not only do we have an epic romance we also have an epic story and adventure。 Poppys journey throughout this book is truly beautiful, she is figuring out who she is and letting go of what she was forced to be。 We experience this beautiful love story that everyone should aspire to have。 Not because of the smut(which was very delectable) but because of the true acceptance of one another and their ability t My favorite from the series so far! Enjoyable read but overall way too long of a book。 Descriptions could have been cut down and the book would have still been good。

best book so farThis is what I wanted out of the first two books。 The heart, the passion。 Book one almost got there。 Book two tried and fell behind book one。 This book did not disappoint。

I liked it, it just kept dragging for so long。It seemed to me like all Poppy and Cas did in this book was f*ck and walk and talk about sh*t!Really could've done with a lot of shortening and editing。This is honestly also the main reason why I'm scared of rereading any SJM book- they're all just way too long! I am counting days for the next book to be released。 The way Poppy had evolved into the fiece Queen of Atlantia is definitely worth obsessing。 This book has so much more to the series。 It explains a lot about Poppy's past and her being descended from the King of Gods。 Cas and Poppy has their own story where they try to defy the odds together 。 There are revelation in this book that I certainly didn't expected and I am very excited to see what will happen in the next one。 I am ready for the war t I am counting days for the next book to be released。 The way Poppy had evolved into the fiece Queen of Atlantia is definitely worth obsessing。 This book has so much more to the series。 It explains a lot about Poppy's past and her being descended from the King of Gods。 Cas and Poppy has their own story where they try to defy the odds together 。 There are revelation in this book that I certainly didn't expected and I am very excited to see what will happen in the next one。 I am ready for the war to and for the other surprises that Jennifer shall bring to us。 。。。more

I seriously want to give this book 5 stars solely for the ending that left me in tears。 But the main chunk of this book was quite boring for me。 I found the banter between Casteel, Poppy, and Kieran to be quite childish throughout。

2。5 stars I'm tired of these books being boring up until the 80% mark。 I mean I get it, it's the ending, it has to be more engaging, but the rest of the book was SO uneventful, and the dialogue SO repetitive! seriously I felt like half the dialogue was recycled every few chapters, and Poppy saying "I have a question" and Kieran responding "That doesn't surprise me at all" or something similar every few chapters really got on my nerves lol。Again, the ending made me feel like reading the next book 2。5 stars I'm tired of these books being boring up until the 80% mark。 I mean I get it, it's the ending, it has to be more engaging, but the rest of the book was SO uneventful, and the dialogue SO repetitive! seriously I felt like half the dialogue was recycled every few chapters, and Poppy saying "I have a question" and Kieran responding "That doesn't surprise me at all" or something similar every few chapters really got on my nerves lol。Again, the ending made me feel like reading the next book, which annoys me because this one was NOT good。 The only thing I always enjoy about these books is Kieran。 Except for that "I have a question convo" with Poppy lol。 All in all, a really boring book with a decent ending, I guess? Could Cas be any more perfect? Another upside to Poppy and Cas being apart in this book is that Poppy really SHINES for me in this。 It feels like Poppy is finally ready to fully embrace who she is and leave the Maiden behind for good。 OMG, the plot twists? THE BETRAYALS! Good lord, I did not see some of them coming! I also appreciated finally getting to learn more about the Blood Queen。 Again, I did NOT see that coming and I was shocked。 So many revelations in this book。 I would also like to add that this was definitely the most satisfying ending of the three books , but I am still itching for MOREEEE。 I cannot wait for The War of Two Queens to come out!!!!If you are the type of person who likes fantasy but also wants some spice, but not just for the sake of spice, you will enjoy this series。 Great for fans of action-packed fantasy with plenty of betrayals and plot twists。5 🌠 。。。more
