Reading this after watching the anime, the anime is very faithful to the manga。 I would even say it just brings the manga to life。

I missed book 1 so i started book 2。 Since the episodes and the books look the same, both still look great。 The drawings are even amazing。 :)

While reading the manga, I finally noticed how the girl stealing demons have one, two, or three horns on their head to show which copy of the original they are。 When I watched the anime, I never noticed this detail。。。。 Also, Michael Jackson is all I am thinking about when I see the big-bad-demon-that-shall-not-be-named (since they can’t speak his name without being killed)。Speaking of Muzan Kibutsuji, how do they have a family?

Seeing Tanjiro treat all the demons with kindness in their final moments… :’) he’s just such a good and kind-hearted kid。 I love him。

I saw someone in the reviews saw “when the evil Micheal Jackson appears”。 I feel this sums up exactly what happens in the second volume。

4 stars。I truly love this story。 I adore Tanjiro and Nezuko with all of my being and want nothing but happiness for them。 I didn't realize, even after my numerous watches of the anime, that Kibutsuji recognized Tanjiro's earrings and was triggered by them。。。 I want to learn more about that potential connection。 4 stars。I truly love this story。 I adore Tanjiro and Nezuko with all of my being and want nothing but happiness for them。 I didn't realize, even after my numerous watches of the anime, that Kibutsuji recognized Tanjiro's earrings and was triggered by them。。。 I want to learn more about that potential connection。 。。。more

Tanjiro has my heart, nothing less, along with Nezuko。 This volume gets 5 stars because the dynamics already present in the first one begin to take shape, a shape that I like and that I appreciate very much。 And thent he volume introduces Muzan Kibutsuji, who will surely be my favorite character (sadly) and who is clearly a Michael Jackson cosplayer in Smooth Criminal (an addictional reason to love him)。 Please, I need more moments with Haganezuka! This did most of the things I hoped it would, so yay! Also, whoa, I had not realized this is set roughly 100 years ago。 The sudden transition from a timeless rural setting equivalent to the "vaguely medieval" world common in western fantasy to urban Tokyo is jarring! (Deliberately so, as we see our tough and calm hero thrown by a new environment。) This did most of the things I hoped it would, so yay! Volume 2 of Demon Slayer introduces us to a couple of important demons - Tamayo the demon physician and her assistant/protege Yushiro, and the demon lord Muzan Kibutsuji。 Tanjiro also undertakes his first solo mission as a demon slayer and investigates a town in which young girls have been disappearing。My biggest criticism of Demon Slayer continues to be its utter lack of memorable women。 Nezuko, despite her presence throughout Tanjiro's journey, is mute and asleep for the majority of the time。 Volume 2 of Demon Slayer introduces us to a couple of important demons - Tamayo the demon physician and her assistant/protege Yushiro, and the demon lord Muzan Kibutsuji。 Tanjiro also undertakes his first solo mission as a demon slayer and investigates a town in which young girls have been disappearing。My biggest criticism of Demon Slayer continues to be its utter lack of memorable women。 Nezuko, despite her presence throughout Tanjiro's journey, is mute and asleep for the majority of the time。 Hanging out in a literal box, out of sight until she's needed to drop-kick some demons。 She has zero agency and very little presence。 Tamayo is fine, but she's basically a quest-giver, sending Tanjiro on his first big task to advance the goal of restoring Nezuko's humanity。I know that most of these criticisms are ones that can be leveled at shonen manga as a whole, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth repeating。 Just because your primary audience is boys doesn't mean you can't have women in your manga。 。。。more
