Summary

NYT bestselling author Nalini Singh returns to a world devastated by change in her award-winning Psy-Changeling Trinity series, where two people defined by their aloneness hold the fate of the Psy in their hands 。 。 。

Termed merciless by some, and a robotic sociopath by others, Payal Rao is the perfect Psy: cardinal telekinetic, CEO of a major conglomerate, beautiful—and emotionless。

For Canto Mercant, family and loyalty are everything。 A cardinal telepath deemed "imperfect" by his race due to a spinal injury, Canto cares for the opinions of very few—and ruthlessly protects those he claims as his own。 Head of intel of the influential Mercant family, he prefers to remain a shadow in the Net, unknown and unseen。 But Canto is also an Anchor, part of a secretive designation whose task it is to stabilize the PsyNet。 Now that critical psychic network is dying, threatening to collapse and kill the entire Psy race with it。

To save those he loves, Canto needs the help of a woman bound to him by a dark past neither has been able to forget。 A woman who is the most powerful Anchor of them all: Payal Rao。 Neither is ready for the violent inferno about to ignite in the PsyNet 。 。 。 or the passionate madness that threatens to destroy them both。

I could not finish this book。 I expected to like it considering the ratings I saw on here。 That was not the case。 Nalini's earlier books were top-tier。 I keep re-reading them and will forever keep on re-reading them。 Each one was so captivating and the chemistry between the characters would jump at you through the pages。 They had such great dialogues and banter。。。while now the priority has shifted to world building first and characters second。 It's very noticeable and that's the spark that I kee I could not finish this book。 I expected to like it considering the ratings I saw on here。 That was not the case。 Nalini's earlier books were top-tier。 I keep re-reading them and will forever keep on re-reading them。 Each one was so captivating and the chemistry between the characters would jump at you through the pages。 They had such great dialogues and banter。。。while now the priority has shifted to world building first and characters second。 It's very noticeable and that's the spark that I keep craving but not receiving from her latest books。 They just don't compare。 I am all of more diversity in books but recently it feels like she has tried to put every type of representation in one book to grab the attention of more new readers。 It just doesn't feel authentic。 I almost want to shout; "keep it simple", "no one can keep track of that much world building and details", "focus on the characters", etc。 So saddened that she as an author won't be my go-to anymore。 I miss Vaughn and Faith, Lucas and Sascha, Riley and Mercy, Hawke and Sienna, Brenna and Jude, Drew and Indigo, Dorian and Shaya。 Now her characters are all starting to look the same and to a point very clinical。 The warmth is missing。 The passion of the love story。 I wouldn't have been as disappointed as I am today, however considering that she neglected so many interesting characters and their anticipated stories and focused on this。。。well。。。yeah。 Plus the amount of time we have to wait to receive even one Psy-Changeling book and for it not to deliver is the cherry on top。 。。。more

I'm glad I get these from the library and don't buy them, because they're like JAK levels of repetitiveness at this point。 The bears were cute though。 I'm glad I get these from the library and don't buy them, because they're like JAK levels of repetitiveness at this point。 The bears were cute though。 。。。more

I'm just gonna say it- I love everything Nalini Singh writes。 I don't think everything is made of the same "material" or of same quality, necessarily, but I will still read everything she puts out, esp。 in the PSY Changeling Trinity series。 I don't think this book was as good as some of the others, but man- this universe is just mind blowing。 Loved it! The life of the Psy network is still at stake。 A dramatic measure is being considered, which, however, can still be averted with the help of the Anchors。 It will buy some time 。。。 But will it be enough in the end? In the previous books reference was made here and there to the "re-education institutions"。 With K3 and J7 this horror comes to life。 The effects of upbringing through psychopathically inclined Psy and growing up in such an environment give a completely different insight into child development in this book。 Canto and Payal`s story touches, it tells some of the horrors that (not as perfectly regarded) Psy children were exposed。 On the other hand, it is also a story of courage, inner strength, friendship, trust and unconditional love。 I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review。(German Titel: Age of Trinity - Die Stunde der Wächter)Das Leben des Medialen Netzwerkes steht weiterhin auf dem Spiel。 Eine dramatische Maßnahme wird erwogen, die jedoch noch mit Hilfe der Anker Medialen abgewendet werden kann。 Etwas Zeit wird dadurch erkauft 。。。 Aber wird sie am Ende ausreichen?

Once again Nalini Singh Delivers。 This book started a little slow and it took me a couple of chapters to warm up to Payal Rao and Canto Mercant but once I did I couldn't put this book down。 Their story was interesting。 The inclusion of many characters that look at life a little differently was wonderful。 Once again Nalini Singh Delivers。 This book started a little slow and it took me a couple of chapters to warm up to Payal Rao and Canto Mercant but once I did I couldn't put this book down。 Their story was interesting。 The inclusion of many characters that look at life a little differently was wonderful。 。。。more

3。5/5 starsI've been reading this book in small chunks since October。 I hadn't really intended to read it at all, but I was told I would probably like the main couple so I figured why not。 It just took me checking this book out about five times to finish it。 I did end up liking Payal and Canto! I think their relationship was a bit lacking in development compared to some of the others I've loved in this series, but I genuinely did enjoy them both as characters and together。 I also loved that this 3。5/5 starsI've been reading this book in small chunks since October。 I hadn't really intended to read it at all, but I was told I would probably like the main couple so I figured why not。 It just took me checking this book out about five times to finish it。 I did end up liking Payal and Canto! I think their relationship was a bit lacking in development compared to some of the others I've loved in this series, but I genuinely did enjoy them both as characters and together。 I also loved that this book involved so many cameos by Kaleb and Sahara, who are my forever faves。But there was a reason I didn't originally intend to read this book and it is: the PsyNet stuff is really stale for me at this point。 It's too same。 We've done this before, multiple times, and each time a new Major Issue crops up, it feels a little like the work that was done in the previous books--that at the time felt like a resolution--was actually a failure。 My other issue is that this new set of characters doesn't grip me the way that the original group of characters did。 I usually like them, but the connection isn't the same。 There's no anticipation of "oh, yes, finally it's [character/s'] book" the way there used to be。 The one book I desperately still want is Nikita/Anthony's, but nooooo, Singh keeps teasing them and there's still no payoff。 I started reading this series almost a decade ago! Come on already!!! 。。。more

I read the first series of the book a long time ago, read a few and then let them go。 So I have a lot of gaps, that didn't mean I couldn't understand the plot。 Thankfully the author explains everything perfectly and with the little knowledge that I had I could put the pieces together :) Overall a classic nalini singh plot and I enjoyed reading it, even though in my German translation some mistakes occurred 😄 but that is not her fault (: I read the first series of the book a long time ago, read a few and then let them go。 So I have a lot of gaps, that didn't mean I couldn't understand the plot。 Thankfully the author explains everything perfectly and with the little knowledge that I had I could put the pieces together :) Overall a classic nalini singh plot and I enjoyed reading it, even though in my German translation some mistakes occurred 😄 but that is not her fault (: 。。。more

I enjoy the world that has been built in this series。I can admit that it still is hard to read about all the harm that was done to Psy children who were considered damaged because they showed emotion。Both Canto and Payal were amazing characters who went through so much as children。 I was happy that they found each other again and got their happy ending。I have an idea of who the villain is and I am curious to see if I am right。

Not sure how she does it but there is quite a lot of introductions that are introduced as the story is unfolding that actually disrupt the flow of a story and yet I Do。 Not。 Mind。 One。 Bit。 Just when the story gets a flow, gets in its groove of the two MCs reconnecting and sharing emotion they're interrupted by a scene from the past or some fact about the psy-universe in the form of a report of an email readout。 And I do not know how she does it, but Nalini Singh makes these necessary and part o Not sure how she does it but there is quite a lot of introductions that are introduced as the story is unfolding that actually disrupt the flow of a story and yet I Do。 Not。 Mind。 One。 Bit。 Just when the story gets a flow, gets in its groove of the two MCs reconnecting and sharing emotion they're interrupted by a scene from the past or some fact about the psy-universe in the form of a report of an email readout。 And I do not know how she does it, but Nalini Singh makes these necessary and part of the story and not the disruption to the reader as they should feel。 It's quite brilliant as they offer some information in a quite tiny intrusion way that later on as the story unfolds become just apparent how essential they are as they add more depth to the emotions the MCs are unfurling as they make their tentative way back to each other。 One should be kind of peeved as a reader to be taken out of the flow so jarringly and repeatedly but it all feels like it belongs in this cold, facts bases psy-universe it kind of feels a natural part of the storytelling needed for this type of world。 I just cannot fault the story and the author。 From the MCs to background looming danger to their universe everything is laid out masterfully。 I wish I could have done more of a review but I was just so enveloped and left with the after impression of the story I just wanted to enjoy that feeling one does not get from too many books nowadays。 。。。more

Another great addition to this series!I loved exploring the Designation A and what their “job” and abilities are。The overarching plot seems to have reached a key point and I think the next installment will deal with some important issues that have been built up since the beginning of this new cycle。I liked Payal and Canto very much, their connection from childhood gave us a nice base for the budding romance, and the way they reconnected as adults was both cute and emotional。I’m pretty amazed by Another great addition to this series!I loved exploring the Designation A and what their “job” and abilities are。The overarching plot seems to have reached a key point and I think the next installment will deal with some important issues that have been built up since the beginning of this new cycle。I liked Payal and Canto very much, their connection from childhood gave us a nice base for the budding romance, and the way they reconnected as adults was both cute and emotional。I’m pretty amazed by how Nalini manages to think of new ways to depicts how cruel some families can be…you’d think after near 20 books in this series alone she would’ve ran out of ideas…that’s not the case at all。 It’s both amazing and disturbing。 😆 。。。more
