When this graphic novel arrived my eyes glowed and I could not wait to open it up。 I had been anticipating this sequel since I pre-ordered it almost a year before it was released。 I 11-year old was as excited as I was。 My wife just left the room when she saw it in my hands。 But who can not get excited over a My Little Pony and Transformers cross-over? I mean, seriously? The first cross-over took place in Equestria and had plenty of insider jokes pertaining to both Transformers and My Little Pony, When this graphic novel arrived my eyes glowed and I could not wait to open it up。 I had been anticipating this sequel since I pre-ordered it almost a year before it was released。 I 11-year old was as excited as I was。 My wife just left the room when she saw it in my hands。 But who can not get excited over a My Little Pony and Transformers cross-over? I mean, seriously? The first cross-over took place in Equestria and had plenty of insider jokes pertaining to both Transformers and My Little Pony, making it perfectly fun for kids and hilarious for adults。 Now, the writers are bringing the Ponies to Cybertron, all thanks to the scheming of Megatron。 He wants to capture the magic from the land of Equestria as a power source, so he sends his minions into Equestria and has them steal the magic all right - which means kidnapping the Ponies themselves!Big mistake, right? But they also grab some artifacts, one that gets hit by a blast of magic from our Princess Twilight during the fight with the Decepticons (who have, as Pinkie Pie points out, the best matching Cutie Marks!) and unleashes an old favorite villain…King Sombra! Now, with Sombra out and taking control of various Ponies, Decepticons and Autobots, the Ponies have to convince everyone that the best way to fight is through the Magic of Friendship in order to save their friends and return to Equestria。James Asmus and Sam Maggs writing does not fail to live up to the previous collection, tying together the beginning set-up with a collection of shorter tales of the ponies and Transformers fighting, working together and learning what true magic is。 At times you can find yourself being entertained, smiling, laughing and often just having fun while reading。 From the back and forth banter of full-of-himself Starcream and flyer-extraordinaire Rainbow Dash to the exciting and action-packed stand-off of Apple Jack and Wildwheel, the writers come up with fun stories to keep both young kids and adults happy again。 Having grown-up with Transformers and my kids grown/growing up with Ponies, there are some things that still throw me off。 The Pony that I have (and will always) call DJ Pon-3 is referred to as DJ Vinyl Scratch in the comic, which is a personal bug and hang-up, but it still rubbed me the wrong way。 One other down-side compared to the last outing was not as many insider jokes, but there can only be so many out there。 Otherwise, the writing was excellent。As to the art, even though the artists changed from issue to issue, the look stayed close enough to not throw off the rhythm of reading it and they did an excellent job。 There is no “stylized” art that sometimes happens where it jolts you away from this possibly being the world of Cybertron, instead you feel like you are there, with the backgrounds reminding you of the cartoons from when you were a kid (so many years ago!)。 While you do not need to read the first graphic novel in order to enjoy this one, I would go back and read it, then sit down with this set and turn off your brain, go back to your younger days and enjoy the silly cross-over event of the year! 。。。more
