Summary

Can your favorite hockey players finish their first season together undefeated?

Five months in, NHL forward Ryan Wesley is having a record-breaking rookie season。 He’s living his dream of playing pro hockey and coming home every night to the man he loves—Jamie Canning, his longtime best friend turned boyfriend。 There’s just one problem: the most important relationship of his life is one he needs to keep hidden, or else face a media storm that will eclipse his success on the ice。

Jamie loves Wes。 He really, truly does。 But hiding sucks。 It’s not the life Jamie envisioned for himself, and the strain of keeping their secret is taking its toll。 It doesn’t help that his new job isn’t going as smoothly as he’d hoped, but he knows he can power through it as long as he has Wes。 At least apartment 10B is their retreat, where they can always be themselves。

Or can they?

When Wes’s nosiest teammate moves in upstairs, the threads of their carefully woven lie begin to unravel。 With the outside world determined to take its best shot at them, can Wes and Jamie develop major-league relationship skills on the fly?

Warning: contains sexual situations, a vibrating chair, long-distance sexytimes and proof that hockey players look hot in any shade of green。

A great read if you’re looking for build up from the end of the first book。 The second book focuses more on the relationship aspect between Jamie and Wes, ans also focused more on the internal and external factors that were affecting their relationship。 I think one of the things that I enjoyed the most about Bowen and Kennedy is their knack at writing in that “new adult” tone of hockey men in their early twenties, but also able to shift from the romantic undertones and serious conversations。 The A great read if you’re looking for build up from the end of the first book。 The second book focuses more on the relationship aspect between Jamie and Wes, ans also focused more on the internal and external factors that were affecting their relationship。 I think one of the things that I enjoyed the most about Bowen and Kennedy is their knack at writing in that “new adult” tone of hockey men in their early twenties, but also able to shift from the romantic undertones and serious conversations。 The supporting cast of characters was an improvement from the first book where it was more focused on Wes and Jamie。 My issues were the usage of baby/babe as a term of endearment (seriously folks stop it), how the end portion of the book just dragged, and also that there were not consistent time jumps throughout the book。 Overall, a great sequel and follow up from the first book。 。。。more

Just amazing!I have read Him/Us at least 3 times。 I love the characters。 The writing is seamless and takes you o。 This journey of 2 friends finding their way back to each other and then the love they share for one another。 Jamie and Wes are the goal couple。 Straight or gray does not matter。 One of my most favorite storyline。

The way Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy toyed with my heart 🥲I always sit and formulate the 'happily ever after' scenarios when the couple gets together and the book ends。 I love that these authors created that scenario for RxJ。 Watching the guys try to figure out the balance between their demanding careers and new relationship as a same-sex couple was such a rollercoaster。 Ryan and Jamie's love was so pure and beautiful that I found myself choking up even at the romantic scenes。 Also, I've never The way Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy toyed with my heart 🥲I always sit and formulate the 'happily ever after' scenarios when the couple gets together and the book ends。 I love that these authors created that scenario for RxJ。 Watching the guys try to figure out the balance between their demanding careers and new relationship as a same-sex couple was such a rollercoaster。 Ryan and Jamie's love was so pure and beautiful that I found myself choking up even at the romantic scenes。 Also, I've never read, watched, or played hockey a day in my life but I'm convinced that I'm a badass hockey player just like Wes。 I love when authors spark my interest in things that I never gave a crap about。 Now I'm hyped to get into Kennedy's hockey series。 。。。more

I judged this series so harshly on it’s cover, dismissing it as some poorly written smut fic。 Boy was I pleasantly surprised。 Never judge a book by its cover。 I read these two books in three days and absolutely devoured them。 Yes it was steamy but not pointlessly so - the tension and drama was handled SO well。 The characters were wonderful and the development was good。 Anyone who knows me would know I do not give five stars out easily。 I am so picky with a five star read but this series is defin I judged this series so harshly on it’s cover, dismissing it as some poorly written smut fic。 Boy was I pleasantly surprised。 Never judge a book by its cover。 I read these two books in three days and absolutely devoured them。 Yes it was steamy but not pointlessly so - the tension and drama was handled SO well。 The characters were wonderful and the development was good。 Anyone who knows me would know I do not give five stars out easily。 I am so picky with a five star read but this series is definitely five out of five!! This book took me longer to read then the first one because there were so many more layers to it。 Wes and Jamie weren't just having fun and reminiscing at hockey camp any more。 This book dove into mental health and stereotypes and discrimination and did such a good job portraying what can happen with the right support。 As I was reading, I wasn't too sure about how things were going to pan out。 Sarina Bowen did a good job at continually throwing in twists that the reader doesn't see coming。 The s This book took me longer to read then the first one because there were so many more layers to it。 Wes and Jamie weren't just having fun and reminiscing at hockey camp any more。 This book dove into mental health and stereotypes and discrimination and did such a good job portraying what can happen with the right support。 As I was reading, I wasn't too sure about how things were going to pan out。 Sarina Bowen did a good job at continually throwing in twists that the reader doesn't see coming。 The spice had me interested in reading more M/M books。 I love how Bowen also intertwined the female population in to the story with the other player's wives and friends from the past。 Between Wes' teammate that moves in upstairs and him always on the road for away games, I was really worried about his and Jamie's relationship。 Although Wes really tried his best as the story progressed, I'm so happy we heard a little bit more about about the Canning clan。 They make my heart warm, especially since Wes never had anything like that growing up。 The dinner scene at the end made my heart happy with how supportive everyone in their lives was after everything that transpired throughout the chapters。 。。。more

Didn’t enjoy the first half of the book, really enjoyed the second half, so average score overall。 First half of the book was all a bit miserable with too many sex scenes。 Second half was more interesting, the situation of how things would play out for the first gay man in hockey, mental health issues。 Liked the humour throughout, liked the characters。 I really do get fed up of reading about really rich main characters, it’s insulting, authors must think people like me aren’t worth writing about Didn’t enjoy the first half of the book, really enjoyed the second half, so average score overall。 First half of the book was all a bit miserable with too many sex scenes。 Second half was more interesting, the situation of how things would play out for the first gay man in hockey, mental health issues。 Liked the humour throughout, liked the characters。 I really do get fed up of reading about really rich main characters, it’s insulting, authors must think people like me aren’t worth writing about, most books I read are about rich people and that’s with me trying to avoid those books。 。。。more

I hadn't intended to pick up this so soon after finishing Him but I'm glad I did。 It was fun to whack through the audiobook in one day and I enjoyed Wes and Jamie's continued development。 My only gripe would be that one of the things I liked about Him so much was how mature it felt in that the conflict/tension in the book didn't feel superficial by revolving around an issue like basic miscommunication。 Unfortunately, Us did have conflict revolving around miscommunication。 This wasn't actually do I hadn't intended to pick up this so soon after finishing Him but I'm glad I did。 It was fun to whack through the audiobook in one day and I enjoyed Wes and Jamie's continued development。 My only gripe would be that one of the things I liked about Him so much was how mature it felt in that the conflict/tension in the book didn't feel superficial by revolving around an issue like basic miscommunication。 Unfortunately, Us did have conflict revolving around miscommunication。 This wasn't actually done in the super annoying angsty way that typically grinds my gears, so I wasn't too bothered, but I do feel that maybe something different could have been done? That being said, you don't really doubt Jamie and Wes' strength as a couple here and I liked the expansion to include new characters like Blake who provided some good comedic value。 Overall this was still a solid follow up and I did very much enjoy my time reading this! 。。。more

I didn't love this as much as the first in the series but I did have a super fun time reading this one。 Jamie and Wes are super cute and so I'll read any book about them。 But I just personally don't love reading about famous people or "the sick trope" so just couldn't fall in love with this one as much as the first one。 I didn't love this as much as the first in the series but I did have a super fun time reading this one。 Jamie and Wes are super cute and so I'll read any book about them。 But I just personally don't love reading about famous people or "the sick trope" so just couldn't fall in love with this one as much as the first one。 。。。more

MM RomanceDuet (Read HIM First)Established couple 5 stars ⭐️ If it’s possible, I liked this one even more than the first one because of the struggles they go through。 The first book was really more of an introduction to both characters and Jamie coming to terms with his sexuality enough to actually be with Wes。 That book ended with them in a seemingly perfect place but everyone knows life isn’t perfect and I like to see couples I love overcoming the struggles and making it to the other side。 Tha MM RomanceDuet (Read HIM First)Established couple 5 stars ⭐️ If it’s possible, I liked this one even more than the first one because of the struggles they go through。 The first book was really more of an introduction to both characters and Jamie coming to terms with his sexuality enough to actually be with Wes。 That book ended with them in a seemingly perfect place but everyone knows life isn’t perfect and I like to see couples I love overcoming the struggles and making it to the other side。 That’s one reason why I love angsty reads。 Struggle for your love dammit!!! LoL 😂 In this book, we get a look at Wes and Jamie’s life in Toronto and it’s not exactly smooth sailing。 They love each other but it’s hard being together and not being able to shout their love to the world and while Wes is kicking ass as a rookie, Jamie goes through a lot in this book。 When one of Wes’ teammates, Blake, moves into the same building, it takes away from their couple time and causes cracks in the foundation of their relationship。 Blake drove me a bit crazy in the beginning just like he did to Wes and Jamie however as time went on, he totally grew on me as well as the boys。 Blake was amazing comic relief and actually helped me stop crying at times with his ridiculous sheep talk (yes, I cried) 😂 but I’m not totally sold on reading his spin off book。 I’d be doing it more for Wes and Jamie then giving a fuck about Blake getting a HEA。 I’m VERY picky when it comes to my MF reads now that I’ve fallen head over heels into the MM world。 This book had my quote!!! “Love is friendship set on fire” and these two are the perfect example of what it means。 Gahh I loved this series and this couple and finally understand what all the fuss over this series is about。 💗 。。。more
