Summary

Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only。 The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch。 After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist。

Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible。

After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever。

The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however。 As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows - and it's forbidden。

Contains mature themes。

Not a fan of the modern universe but it grew on me and I liked it enough to finish it。 Not sure if I’ll continue the series

A spicy retelling of Hades and Persephone? Yes please! I enjoyed this little romance, the world building was good, the twist on Greek Gods was interesting, and spice was 👌🏻 (though some descriptive words made me laugh!) I’ll definitely be coming back for the second book in the series。

Such a amazing story I can’t wait to read the next book , I loved Persephone and how strong she became by the end of the book。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 An interesting twist on Greek mythology, although about half way through it hit me how similar the story line was to 50 shades of Grey! A contract, interviews for a newspaper, her near sexual assult and the sudden rescue, a man who likes to be "rough"。。。for me it was all a bit too similar to be fluke!I've given it 4 stars because I do plan to read the rest of the books, it was an easy read and honestly I'm keen to see how close the rest of them are to the 50 shades series! Neon gods introduced me to the world of Greek mythology romance and A touch of darkness solidified my obsession with the Persephone and Hades love stories。 I know there’s a lot of mixed reviews about this book but Honestly it’s a great book to get you out of a book slump! It was super interesting in fast paced and the characters were so loveable。

Touch of Darkness is for anyone obsessed with Hades!Last year I read Katee Robert's book Neon Gods and her Hades character joined my top 5 fave men characters of all time。 He was everything you could want in a depiction of the God。However Scarlett St。Clair has brought the Underworld and Elysium and mortal realm to LIFE。The world building was gorgeous, description after description I wanted to memorize 。 I want to buy a physical copy for my collection to annotate because you simply cant absorb al Touch of Darkness is for anyone obsessed with Hades!Last year I read Katee Robert's book Neon Gods and her Hades character joined my top 5 fave men characters of all time。 He was everything you could want in a depiction of the God。However Scarlett St。Clair has brought the Underworld and Elysium and mortal realm to LIFE。The world building was gorgeous, description after description I wanted to memorize 。 I want to buy a physical copy for my collection to annotate because you simply cant absorb all of this in one reading。 To me reading this book was like walking into my favorite museum, you see the exibits but you cant fully drink it all in with one visit。 Persephone's character grew up in this book 。 She gained confidence, she grew into her magic, she learned her own worth。 Hades character too was perfect in a godlike way。。much like Richard Gere in Pretty Woman 。He was there to give Persephone all she ever wanted ( cue Billie Eillish) The sexy scenes were 🌶🌶🌶🌶 Hot and just divine。 The other characters in the book were well developed and I really hope we get to know more about each one, their stories and what motivates them。 The only thing that would have made it a five star for me。。。more of a confession from Hades。 More dialogue on how he loved her, when he fell in love with her, his wants his desires。 I really think this book would have been perfect as a Dual POV。 The ending was rushed。。and I acrually felt like I was missing chapters of the book! I cant wait to read the next book in this series and it is joining my top five books of January。 If it had made me cry It would have been #1。 。。。more

I am all for a beauty and the beast/forbidden love/Greek mythology/fantasy trope, and typically won’t say no to a bit of smut。 But it has to come with either a captivating plot (I see you Crescent City) or some serious character development (hello Helen Hoang)。 This, unfortunately, had neither。 Party girl Persephone (who is somehow weirdly also extremely innocent?) loses a bet in a game of cards to Hades (God of the Underworld)- how they got in that situation I’m still confused about- and while I am all for a beauty and the beast/forbidden love/Greek mythology/fantasy trope, and typically won’t say no to a bit of smut。 But it has to come with either a captivating plot (I see you Crescent City) or some serious character development (hello Helen Hoang)。 This, unfortunately, had neither。 Party girl Persephone (who is somehow weirdly also extremely innocent?) loses a bet in a game of cards to Hades (God of the Underworld)- how they got in that situation I’m still confused about- and while this seems like a promising plot, from there I genuinely think all that happens is sex。 I listened on audio and got so tired of it I sped it up to 1。75x and listened to faster exploits than any human would ever be okay with。 2 stars, bummer dude。 。。。more

I regret spending money on this。 All the good reviews are lies that lured me inI read about 60% or so。 Definitely did not finish because it was awful。 Do not believe the good reviews if you like even the smallest bit of depth to your characters。 The characters had no depth whatsoever。 By the time one reaches 60% of a book, you should have at least an idea of who the main character is。 That didn't happen here。 The details you do get about Persephone and Hades are superficial。 This reads like a te I regret spending money on this。 All the good reviews are lies that lured me inI read about 60% or so。 Definitely did not finish because it was awful。 Do not believe the good reviews if you like even the smallest bit of depth to your characters。 The characters had no depth whatsoever。 By the time one reaches 60% of a book, you should have at least an idea of who the main character is。 That didn't happen here。 The details you do get about Persephone and Hades are superficial。 This reads like a teenager's first attempt at fanfiction。 I know, romance is not always great well written works of art。 However, even something as easy as romance should have some character development。 How are the readers supposed to look at Hades as their next book boyfriend when he does not even feel like a person? Also, the few details we do get are far from believable for the God of the Underworld。 I figured since this book cost money and wasn't Kindle Unlimited that it had to be good。 It wasn't。 It felt like the author watches way too many CW teen shows and decided to write a book veen more superficial than those shows。 The relationship was not believable。 Why did Hades even love Persephone? She was boring, weak, not intelligent at all, whiny, and immature。 It is not believable that the God of the Underworld would want a woman with no life experience, no personality, and the mental stability of a 13 year old。 I want my $2。24 back。 I feel robbed。 This book was supposed to be good and all it did was make me feel turned off to the romance genre as a whole。 If you want a romance author who knows how to add depth and actually writes dark characters in their proper dark manner, read Kathryn Ann Kingsley。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 I liked it, I did。 But the story could have been so much fuller。 The ideas were sound。 The characters were great。 But all the ideas and characters felt half finished。 There was so much potential, but it almost felt like a rough draft。 Everything just felt flat, when there was so much that could have been juicier。 I wanted to love this; I wish that I'd loved this! Not sure if I'll continue to book two because Persephone was such a frustrating character! 。。。more

1。5 stars rounded upNo one in the world has shivered more than Persephone has in this book when she hears Hades' voice。 I felt like I was reading a Wattpad book。 It was poorly written and the amount of outfit descriptions were ridiculous and totally unnecessary。 Persephone herself was kind of annoying, going out of her way to hate Hades despite being given plenty of reasons not to。 Hades also growled a lot when he was turned on。。。 What?? Hades? Hades was ✨immaculate✨。 Persephone on the other hand? The book was good, but there were aspects that could have been more intense。 At places it felt bland and some portions felt unnecessary。 Though it slightly lacked in substance it more than made up for it in playfulness and a weird, almost unnatural, flair。
