Summary

Anne Frank's extraordinary diary, written in the Amsterdam attic where she and her family hid from the Nazis for two years, has become a world classic and a timeless testament to the human spirit。 Now, in a new edition enriched by many passages originally withheld by her father, we meet an Anne more real, more human, and more vital than ever。 Here she is first and foremost a teenage girl—stubbornly honest, touchingly vulnerable, in love with life。 She imparts her deeply secret world of soul-searching and hungering for affection, rebellious clashes with her mother, romance and newly discovered sexuality, and wry, candid observations of her companions。 Facing hunger, fear of discovery and death, and the petty frustrations of such confined quarters, Anne writes with adult wisdom and views beyond her years。 Her story is that of every teenager, lived out in conditions few teenagers have ever known。

Anne Frank was and still is a very inspiring person。

Writing is about getting down the truth。 And there are few demonstrations where this was done better。。。

At first I was a little uncomfortable reading her personal diary but as you read and get further towards the end you see that it was her wish for her work to be published

To all the haters who say this book is boring and tiresome, you don't have the right to judge someone's diary。 It wasn't meant to be interesting, it was meant to be for her。 I started journaling at the young age of 10。 I also named my diary and wrote it as a cathartic release when I had no one else to talk to。 Unlike Anne though, I didn't have to go into hiding in a small attic for 2 years during the Holocaust, but this book reminded me of my younger self and I'm sure anyone who write diary can To all the haters who say this book is boring and tiresome, you don't have the right to judge someone's diary。 It wasn't meant to be interesting, it was meant to be for her。 I started journaling at the young age of 10。 I also named my diary and wrote it as a cathartic release when I had no one else to talk to。 Unlike Anne though, I didn't have to go into hiding in a small attic for 2 years during the Holocaust, but this book reminded me of my younger self and I'm sure anyone who write diary can relate deeply。 It's so sad to see such a young soul to die with so much potentials。 Anne's writing skills was way beyond her age and it's fascinating to see how her mind developed over the pages。 Since Anne couldn't go out, her stories related to her family and friends。 At the end of the book, readers can observe Anne's coming of age unfolded as she wrote about her crush Peter。 It's cute and depressing at the same time, knowing what happened to Anne in the end。To be honest, toward the end, it was uneventful and I felt a bit tired to carry on。 But like I mentioned, this wasn't meant to be a published book, so keep your expectation low and your heart open, you'll fall in love with Anne's simple yet cruel world。 。。。more

Reading about the life of a person, who went through a nightmare can be overwhelming sometimes。 I have always been so interested reading about how people lived through these thought times and what struggles they had to go through。 Anne Frank, world known for the diary that she kept during the 1940's。 Anne Frank being a jewish only meant risks back then, when they had to go in hiding for the next two years。 She lived a life of horror, exhaustion, and starvation at times。 This young girl and the b Reading about the life of a person, who went through a nightmare can be overwhelming sometimes。 I have always been so interested reading about how people lived through these thought times and what struggles they had to go through。 Anne Frank, world known for the diary that she kept during the 1940's。 Anne Frank being a jewish only meant risks back then, when they had to go in hiding for the next two years。 She lived a life of horror, exhaustion, and starvation at times。 This young girl and the bravery that she had, was filled with promises only for her life to be cut short。 I really engaging with this book and learning about the life of this person。 I would recommend this to really anyone with a learning passion。 。。。more

Can I say that I am literally gutted and I don’t know where to start? I have always wanted to read this but never did until now。 This year I challenged myself to read some books that have been on my TBR for years。 Anne Frank’s story is one of courage and patience。 That fact that she and her family hid for so long only to he caught right at the end。 I have been on an audiobook kick for awhile and listening to this made me feel like I was right there。 Also, the fact that her father had courage to Can I say that I am literally gutted and I don’t know where to start? Super important look at the holocaust in Germany。 It is emotional and pivotal and vital that every young kid read this book。 It helps give firsthand experience into WW2。

Anne Frank was a remarkable, thoughtful and brave young woman。 I'm glad we are able to read her recovered diary from her time in the "Secret Annex" while in hiding with her family and four others from July 1942 to August 1944。  Anne Frank was a remarkable, thoughtful and brave young woman。 I'm glad we are able to read her recovered diary from her time in the "Secret Annex" while in hiding with her family and four others from July 1942 to August 1944。  。。。more

This diary is one of the books that I want to read but hesitate for some unknown reasons。 Anyway, I'm kinda glad that I read it at a sufficiently old age to think about it seriously。Anne Frank is such a sensitive, independent, and creative girl。 At the age of 15, she has had her own ultimate beliefs and ideals about the world。 I admire her self-understanding and self-judgement, since it's not easy for a person, especially at a young age, to be sufficiently knowledgable and brave to criticize the This diary is one of the books that I want to read but hesitate for some unknown reasons。 Anyway, I'm kinda glad that I read it at a sufficiently old age to think about it seriously。Anne Frank is such a sensitive, independent, and creative girl。 At the age of 15, she has had her own ultimate beliefs and ideals about the world。 I admire her self-understanding and self-judgement, since it's not easy for a person, especially at a young age, to be sufficiently knowledgable and brave to criticize themselves at right times while still treasuring their own conceptions。 Since it's a diary, you can not get the thing you expect。 Everything was so human, so real, sometimes tedious as life went on, yet it meant the suffering, longing for peace, hoping and disappointing, all were also too real to bear when seriously thinking about。 The bitter thought of "what if", for sure, is what saddened me the most after finishing the book。 What if they were not reported? What if they could bear a bit longer in the concentration camp? The most haunting part is that, yes, the fact that they could not。 。。。more

I am touched by this little girl's optimism and her happy Outlook despite her circumstances。 I love the fact that she describes everything it's such detail that fact is amazing to me for such a young girl。 I can't imagine in my mind having to go through what Anne went through it makes me appreciate the fact that I am a free person and my own freedom。 I also find it sickening that other human beings could treat their fellow human beings in such a way as she describes。 People who had never done an I am touched by this little girl's optimism and her happy Outlook despite her circumstances。 I love the fact that she describes everything it's such detail that fact is amazing to me for such a young girl。 I can't imagine in my mind having to go through what Anne went through it makes me appreciate the fact that I am a free person and my own freedom。 I also find it sickening that other human beings could treat their fellow human beings in such a way as she describes。 People who had never done anything to them except live their lives。 I found the book touching moving yet full of hope and optimism despite being not an easy book to read。 。。。more

I am touched by the philosophical side of a 14-year-old。 Her accuracy in putting down her thoughts, overall maturity about life, relationships, love for nature, positivity in such difficult times, and her sense of humor impressed me。 Hats off to their spirit!

Amazing that a young girl can write such a powerful diary。 If you’ve read this book at school I strongly suggest you read this as an adult to appreciate just what an outstanding young girl Anne was and still is after her death。

Omg! People actually rated this a 1 star?? I’m sorry, I’m all for opinions but that’s just wrong。。 honestly I don’t think anyone should ‘get to’ rate this DIARY!! Would you rate your little girl’s diary based on how entertaining it was? Ridiculous。 But but but, I think this one’s a must read :)

Maureen

I should have read this as a young teen, as I found Anne annoying。 However, I think the story might resonate with kids who feel constrained by COVID and the limitations imposed on all of us。
