3。75Would give it four but it took some time for the book to develop pace。 The monologues at the start were annoying and repetitive。 It was especially irritating when the main character kept mentioning Wrath saving her life。 But it did make me laugh out loud at a few points which is a huge achievement。

The pacing of this book was erratic。 Between one chapter and the next， the time could jump two hours， two days， or two weeks。 Not enough development for the main conflict， which was finding the witch killer。 In the end， the motive was weak and thin—and hypocritical for Emilia to even be mad at。 Too many things going on and too many plot holes。 And the morals are completely subjective and ever changing。 Shallow and unimpressive。

3。5i found most of the book slow and i felt like not much happened until maybe the half or 2/3 of the book。but then the action took a different pace and i was hooked。 i love emilia， my strong and vengeful queen！！ and wrath？？ i wanna learn more about his character but i love him alreadyso many plot twists around the end？？ i’m excited to read the sequel！！

This is honestly kind of overrated but it occupied my time today so I’m happy that I finally got around to it。 The main characters is a bit boring， but overall this was quick to get through。

Not sure which character the author intended for me to like - but Wrath is the bomb。 Maybe I had set my standards too high - but I felt like a lot of the writing was juvenile and repetitive。 Like she keeps recapping everything that has happened， in case you skimmed past it。 Will have to see if I bother with Book 2。

I flip-flopped between rating this 4 or 5 stars almost as much as Emilia flip-flopped between her feelings of hatred and trust towards Wrath。 Book itself is probably a 3 （maybe even a 3。5）， but my enjoyment was honestly at a 5 throughout 90% of the book， so I settled for a 4 star rating。

Im sorry but Emilia is so annoyingggggg 😭I hate that the author writes paragraphs of her inner conflict and monologue like just get your shit together and take action already！I listened to the audiobook but I feel like I would enjoy reading it more so I could just skip over her long ass pointless thoughts。 I will continue the series because I really do enjoy the plot。 I hope that in the next boom Emilia can stop being so annoying。 🙄
