Easy to read book and give you the steps how to invest, despite being new into investing。 Some of the numbers may sound exaggerated but nevertheless a great book。

Ameya Apte

awesome detailed step by step guide to at least get you started with individual stock investing。

A good read: well-structured and quite easy to follow。 The book explains various financial terms (e。g。 Return on Capital, PE Ratio, Margin of Safety) and the use of 3 tools (MACD, Stochastic, Moving Average) clearly and with good examples, guiding the reader through the process of investing in stocks step-by-step。 The author did not stuff the book with lots of complicated jargon or techniques, which is really appreciated by a novice like me。 The only downside would be some dated info and weblink A good read: well-structured and quite easy to follow。 The book explains various financial terms (e。g。 Return on Capital, PE Ratio, Margin of Safety) and the use of 3 tools (MACD, Stochastic, Moving Average) clearly and with good examples, guiding the reader through the process of investing in stocks step-by-step。 The author did not stuff the book with lots of complicated jargon or techniques, which is really appreciated by a novice like me。 The only downside would be some dated info and weblinks; seeking out some of the data requires a bit more work。 Some of the content is also US-specific so they were quite irrelevant。 In the end, the book has really helped me improve my overall understanding and I believe the knowledge I picked up will prove useful。Highly recommended! 。。。more

Gonna use this strategy instead of Tony Robbin's unshakable mutual funds' strategy。 This is basically Warren Buffet's investing strategy looking at the intrinsic value of companies。 Gonna use this strategy instead of Tony Robbin's unshakable mutual funds' strategy。 This is basically Warren Buffet's investing strategy looking at the intrinsic value of companies。 。。。more

Mostly solid, but the promise that you can (easily) make 15% even when in a bear market is just too much 。。 most people should stick to a core portfolio using a total market index/etf and only have few percentage in single stocks - this idea is not mentioned, stock picking is so easy 。。

A very easy book that introduces you to the fundamental rules to start investing profitably your money。 But the fact that it is easy to understand is not a flaw: in fact, it is very explanatory on the few things which it deals with but that remain easily in your mind and it uses its repetitiveness as a strength, mainly for the readers who are no so expert with investing。 It is also very practical and it gives you very useful and easy tips to make your money work for you without spending so much A very easy book that introduces you to the fundamental rules to start investing profitably your money。 But the fact that it is easy to understand is not a flaw: in fact, it is very explanatory on the few things which it deals with but that remain easily in your mind and it uses its repetitiveness as a strength, mainly for the readers who are no so expert with investing。 It is also very practical and it gives you very useful and easy tips to make your money work for you without spending so much time and effort in sophisticated and laborious research and calculation。 。。。more

Good book to start reading about basic investments。 Phil town is also one of the disciples of Warren Buffet, and likewise, is a value-investor。 The book is a nice read and gives a lot of information about economic terms and how to make an educated guess before investing your money in a stock market。In short, a profitable company should have ROIC, E/P growth greater than 10%。 The PE ration shouldn't be abnormally high (~20 is good)。 The company should have low debt。 The idea of making money from Good book to start reading about basic investments。 Phil town is also one of the disciples of Warren Buffet, and likewise, is a value-investor。 The book is a nice read and gives a lot of information about economic terms and how to make an educated guess before investing your money in a stock market。In short, a profitable company should have ROIC, E/P growth greater than 10%。 The PE ration shouldn't be abnormally high (~20 is good)。 The company should have low debt。 The idea of making money from stock is to get the highest profit with the least risk possible。 。。。more

Rule One Investing was a great book to read, and It definitely counts as a world changing book for me。 Rule One Investing not only acted as an intro to basic stock trading for me, but also helped to nudge me in the right direction as to what type of trading I should adopt。 Phil Town’s slow and steady trading method is perfect for someone my age who has a lot of overall time, but not a lot of free time。 This strategy, when I employ it, will slowly but surely compound my wealth to a large degree。t Rule One Investing was a great book to read, and It definitely counts as a world changing book for me。 Rule One Investing not only acted as an intro to basic stock trading for me, but also helped to nudge me in the right direction as to what type of trading I should adopt。 Phil Town’s slow and steady trading method is perfect for someone my age who has a lot of overall time, but not a lot of free time。 This strategy, when I employ it, will slowly but surely compound my wealth to a large degree。tThis book was world changing for me because It gave me a whole different perspective when it came to professional trading。 I always thought that to be a professional I would have to commit to sitting in front of stock tickers all day in order to make any amounts of revenue, but this book helped me realize that that is not the case, and that I can use investing while only dedicating a couple hours a week to my portfolio。 The best part about this method is that It can be used alongside another job, and since I don't think it would be my dream job to analyze stocks all day, I am more than happy to only use investing as an investment vehicle。tThis book has quite a history, as Phil Town's first book he couldn’t get any library to take his books, so he sold them out of his friends car wash; However, the book started to catch on and gain a following after many satisfied readers。 This type of story lets you know that this book works, because it didn't have some outstanding marketing behind it, and it was only driven by its usefulness and reputation。 This book has made me much more inquisitive towards my future。 Every day I grow closer to being a legal adult, and I can't help but spend more and more of my time mentally and physically preparing for my future。 The main question raised by this book was “can I do this in the future?”。 The only part of this book that I was unsure about was whether it would be a good fit for me or not。 I know that it works, but would it work for me, and after consideration I figured that it probably would due to the low time requirements and steady long term growth that I can withstand the allure of。 In this book the author's tone and voice are nothing special, but his storytelling is。 Phil Town tells this story in two parts, one is the story of his past, and how he got to where he is today, and the other is purely information, and goes over the logistics of his methodologies。 This storytelling makes his book not only accessible for those unacquainted with investing, but also useful for those with a large background in it。 In addition, his past allows you to see how his strategy worked in real life, and made a millionaire out of a white water tour guide。 Overall this book was very useful for me and my future。 。。。more

Started reading this after listening to 10 podcast episodes of InvestED, by Phil Town and his daughter Danielle Town。 The podcast was okay but not information dense enough。 Phil Town said a lot of common sense stuff so I decided to read his book to speed things up a bit。I wish this book was not so time-specific (lots of screenshots of “MSN Money” and old versions of Yahoo), and available in Dutch so I could give it to my parents。 Don’t be fooled by the “how to open a brokers account” chapter, th Started reading this after listening to 10 podcast episodes of InvestED, by Phil Town and his daughter Danielle Town。 The podcast was okay but not information dense enough。 Phil Town said a lot of common sense stuff so I decided to read his book to speed things up a bit。I wish this book was not so time-specific (lots of screenshots of “MSN Money” and old versions of Yahoo), and available in Dutch so I could give it to my parents。 Don’t be fooled by the “how to open a brokers account” chapter, this is not just for investing newbies。 Contains a very readable implementation of Phil Fisher’s quality investing philosophy meets value investing meets GARP。 What I like is that Town translates the high-level, abstract method of Fisher to something quantifiable anyone with highschool level math knowledge can work with。 。。。more

Step by Step Guide for InvestingI’ve been largely using Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) and investing in Index ETFs。 Phil is a refreshing read, and he lays out his method clearly。 It will take work to put this in action, and he is very candid about what one would likely experience when implementing his approach。 This is a book that I will return to again for reference as I journey into Value Investing。

Charles Sunnucks

Its well written with interesting anecdotes, and some good insights into how to evaluate a company。 However, its approach to actual valuation is dangerously oversimplified, and therefore its not really of practical use for those wishing to evaluate an investment opportunity。

Terrible name great content The advice is solid and this book is way better than I expected。 The framework can be a bit dated because of today’s websites and apps but most of it still applies。

Jaap

Very accessible book about the fundamentals of investing with little original thought and reciting the same old in the most popular voice。 Maybe 2 stars is a bit harsh but it is how much I have enjoyed。 On the upside, it took little time。

Harry Harman

The book-equivalent of a webinar。Just enticing you to buy his software but teaches you nothing。

I loved this book so much! Phil gives you all the tools you need to start doing value investing。 Although the websites he recommends (Yahoo Finance and MSN Money) have been updated since the publishing of this book (so some features may be a bit difficult to find), it's not impossible。 I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get into value investing and learn how to do it。 I loved this book so much! Great book for stock investors, the greatest if I might。 Yet I needed more maths and rational process in order to get the numbers this method explains。 I have to re-read many times more to figure out how and why, but if you're into blind investment maths or not, this is a great first step for stock investing。Oh and the author is really concerned about your money and tries hard to help you use it wisely。 Great book for stock investors, the greatest if I might。 Yet I needed more maths and rational process in order to get the numbers this method explains。 I have to re-read many times more to figure out how and why, but if you're into blind investment maths or not, this is a great first step for stock investing。Oh and the author is really concerned about your money and tries hard to help you use it wisely。 。。。more

Most investing books I’ve read mostly talk about changing your mindset, but this is the first I’ve come across that gives practical advice on how to read the numbers and what to do with them。 A lot of the references are pretty dated, but I learned a lot。

The book is a really good start, but it feels so commercial。 There are pages where it appears the "rule 1" phrase 5 times and it's tiresome。 The book could be summed up in 3 chapters without losing any information but it was dragged out to be a full book。 The book is a really good start, but it feels so commercial。 There are pages where it appears the "rule 1" phrase 5 times and it's tiresome。 The book could be summed up in 3 chapters without losing any information but it was dragged out to be a full book。 。。。more
