No high holy tourist traps of obligation- well, just a few random biggies…Seriously, this is not your pretentious travel guide。 Nor is it a step-by-step, GPS, “get me there” guide。 “NYC Like a Local” is a broad overview of the 5 boroughs that constitute NYC。 Also included are a few day trips to nearby points of interest that are all within 2 hours of the city and easy to access by public transportation or by a taxi service like Uber or Lyft。One of my favorite aspects about this guide are the tip No high holy tourist traps of obligation- well, just a few random biggies…Seriously, this is not your pretentious travel guide。 Nor is it a step-by-step, GPS, “get me there” guide。 “NYC Like a Local” is a broad overview of the 5 boroughs that constitute NYC。 Also included are a few day trips to nearby points of interest that are all within 2 hours of the city and easy to access by public transportation or by a taxi service like Uber or Lyft。One of my favorite aspects about this guide are the tips that are dropped along the way。 Did you know that many cafes and shops will fill your reusable water bottle if asked nicely? How about the fact that most stores charge for paper bags and that plastic bags are outlawed - in all of NYC?!?Early on in the book are 6 maps broken up by specific neighborhood that show all the points of interest mentioned in the book。 They are noted VERY ROUGHLY with a bullet on the map and an alphabetical designation: E= Eat, A= Arts & Culture, D= Drink, N= Nightlife, S= Shop, O= Outdoors Don’t have any expectations of being able to find anything using this book as a map。 All locations are very rough。 The addresses are not exact but you can use this guide to get you “in the neighborhood” to ask Alexa or Google it。This small format book is 7。25” x 5” and is hardcover。 It will travel well, hold up to rough handling and hallelujah, it was printed in Canada!!!All things considered, a good travel tool for walking around NYC and taking your time📚 。。。more
