Summary

When Kyoko’s heart is broken, she decides that revenge is a dish best served in the spotlight!

Kyoko Mogami followed her true love Sho to Tokyo to support him while he made it big as an idol。 But he’s casting her out now that he’s famous enough! Kyoko won’t suffer in silence—she’s going to get her sweet revenge by beating Sho in show biz!

Kyoko desperately wants to be cast in a new samurai drama so that she can work opposite her best friend in the entire world, Kanae "Moko" Kotonami。 But the producer in charge of the acting test kicks Kyoko out without even letting her perform! Kyoko’s temporary manager Yoshiro isn’t worried, though。 He knows a little adversity isn’t enough to stand in the way of Kyoko’s dreams。 Still, her competition isn’t known for playing fair, and Kyoko’s professionalism is getting blasted away by waves of doubt and grudge demons。 Her only chance to stay in the running is to channel her dark emotions into her acting, but how can she hope to control feelings about her special weakness Ren Tsuruga?!

Love this series but little frustrated that the main character is still so bad at understanding Ren。

I loved this! This is the furthest I have gotten in this series in years! I am so sad to go back to waiting, but I want to go omnibus with the rest of the series。 I am so looking forward to Kyoko as Momiji! I am also looking forward to the Ren reunion! I still need more Maria - make it happen! Chop chop! Anyway, this ends my 2021 reread。 I am so glad that after 12 years, I still love this series。 I love this even more now than I did then。 Thank you Nakamura for such a great series, especially Ky I loved this! The worst thing about finishing this set is that I am potentially going to have to wait YEARS for the next one to come out 😭😭😭 Why did you leave me dangling off this precipice of mixed emotions?!?

Trigger Warnings: discussion of deliberate harm of a rival actress including being dragged behind a car; mental trauma induced physical paralysis, discussion of former bullying and nepotism。 Oh hey another series I have reviewed NONE of, though I'll admit reviewing manga is harder for me - it's such a different format even from American style graphic novels that I get a little intimidated for some reason。 Regardless, Skip Beat! is one of my long time faves and go-to comfort manga reads。 I haven' Trigger Warnings: discussion of deliberate harm of a rival actress including being dragged behind a car; mental trauma induced physical paralysis, discussion of former bullying and nepotism。 Oh hey another series I have reviewed NONE of, though I'll admit reviewing manga is harder for me - it's such a different format even from American style graphic novels that I get a little intimidated for some reason。 Regardless, Skip Beat! is one of my long time faves and go-to comfort manga reads。 I haven't kept many physical copies on my shelves (mostly because of how much SPACE manga take up), but this was definite one I can't resist keeping。 I was thrilled when they started coming out with the 3in1 volumes as they do take up just slightly less space LOL。 This particular volume was a lot of fun with typical determined Kyoko taking on auditions for a new role。 It did have a bit of a darker edge to it with a former bully being revealed to have been attacked and in a very different place in this volume than when we met them much much earlier in the series。 There was also a lot more physical motion and fight choreography type scenes in this manga which honestly were hard to follow due to the art style。 It was still really lovely which is one of my fave things about this manga - it just didn't feel quite as grounded in place as it usually is。 。。。more
