I love Stacey on booktok and really loved her book！ It has some of my favorite tropes in it， has solid world building that doesn't take forever to understand， and is incredibly bingeable。 It's a solid fantasy romance， but OMG THAT CLIFFHANGER ENDING。 I feel like I can't talk further about this book without spoiling it， so beware if you keep reading。 （view spoiler）[ Dawysn is HARD; she is hardened by life on the Ledge and reminds me of a merge between Katniss and Johanna Mason - especially with h I love Stacey on booktok and really loved her book！ It has some of my favorite tropes in it， has solid world building that doesn't take forever to understand， and is incredibly bingeable。 It's a solid fantasy romance， but OMG THAT CLIFFHANGER ENDING。 I feel like I can't talk further about this book without spoiling it， so beware if you keep reading。 （view spoiler）[ Dawysn is HARD; she is hardened by life on the Ledge and reminds me of a merge between Katniss and Johanna Mason - especially with her ax。 I really do love though how much Ryon respects her， her skills and abilities， and her desire to remain independent - it was very refreshing， especially since as a hybrid Glacian he could have definitely headed into "territorial fae bastard" territory very quickly; it was refreshing to have a different dynamic。 The enemies to lovers is lighter for me， because Ryon isn't really her enemy from the beginning。 I really enjoyed their dynamic， even if I became frustrated with Dawysn for being so hardened even if it completely made sense for who she is。 I also love the trope of "he loves her more" which is so true of Ryon and apparent from very early on。 Also， the "there's only one bed" is sheer perfection - thank you Stacey。 I loved the side characters， especially Ersa， and wished I saw more of them and hope to in the sequel。 The reveal of information - and the lost princess trope - was well done; you have an inkling， along with Dawsyn， that she doesn't have the full story， and it unfurls at a reasonable pace。 I honestly thought this story could have been a standalone until the last 40 pages when I realized during the assault on Glacia "oh yeah， this is going to be a trilogy clearly"， and there are something things I want resolved in the sequel， like the deal with the Pool， but it worked what was revealed and when。 I also absolutely loved when she breaks from the straight narrative when they're storming the palace to say "for years， they won't tell this story right" - it was a really cool move。 HOWEVER - the twist at the end， even though I thought the Queens were up to no good （and it's clearly indicated that they are NOT GOOD）， I was knocked on my ass with those last 3 pages。 I'm in agony as I wait for book 2， and that was a cliffhanger I haven't been hit with since The Mark of Athena。 Holy hell is this going to be an uncomfortable wait for the next book！！ （hide spoiler）] 。。。more

Ledge is everything I love in fantasy stories all wrapped up in a single book: fast paced from the start， a strong female main character， a dark handsome morally grey male enemy-turned-lover， gut wrenching plot twists， magical creatures， graphic battles， multiple perspectives， and a jaw dropping， heart stopping， cliff-hanger of an ending。 I am completely obsessed。 Dawsyn is the kind of stubborn， resilient protagonist that both frustrates you as a reader and makes you think “damn， get it， girl。” Ledge is everything I love in fantasy stories all wrapped up in a single book: fast paced from the start， a strong female main character， a dark handsome morally grey male enemy-turned-lover， gut wrenching plot twists， magical creatures， graphic battles， multiple perspectives， and a jaw dropping， heart stopping， cliff-hanger of an ending。 I am completely obsessed。 Dawsyn is the kind of stubborn， resilient protagonist that both frustrates you as a reader and makes you think “damn， get it， girl。” You root for her just as much as you sigh in frustration。 Her strength is somehow palpable through the pages （metaphorically speaking， of course， as I read an e-ARC）。 Dawsyn is strong and independent and you KNOW she does not need anyones help， and in a very real survivalist “I can kill you with this ax just as easily as I could chop wood with it” kind of way。 I truly wish that there were more main characters like her。 On the other hand， Ryon is the kind of tall， dark， handsome， and not quite human character that we all know well。 What makes Ryon stand apart from the rest is that he gives Dawsyn the space to be a badass without any foolish “I don’t want you to get hurt so you should stay on the sidelines” nonsense that plagues other stories。 Its refreshing—and very appealing。Overall this book had such a unique feel to it。 While there were many familiar themes， the story felt exciting and like a breath of fresh air from the norm。 I cannot sing praises loud enough for Ledge！ 。。。more

I was incredibly lucky enough to get an ARC of Ledge， and HOLY COW！ It’s so so good。 Dawsyn is a B。A。 main character in all the best ways and none of the annoying ones。 This is my favorite book of 2021 hands down。 I’m absolutely in love。 If you need me I’ll be rereading it ✌🏻
