I can’t do star ratings for this one。 Just feels wrong。 Mostly listing here because this is one easy place to look back on things。 Encouraged by my sister I started a through the Bible in a year January 1 and finished ahead of schedule today。 Done with a friend on the youversion app。 So glad to see the overarching story in this way over a year。 Great start to every day。(NRSV next year)

I read through the Bible chronologically each day through 2021。 I found reading through the Bible this way was impactful, as someone who likes historical details & dates to align。

Josh Wright

Questioned the chronological placement of some things, but all in all a pretty interesting way to read through the canon。

Good book。 Would read it again。

I’m looking forward to reading this again in 2022。

NB the rating and comments are about the narration not The Bible itself。This is read well by David Suchet and he narration makes it very easy to listen to。 If you want to read your Bible, this is a good place to start。

On my third time reading through the Bible and it never gets old。 You learn something new all the time while reading it。 It’s the single most important WORD in all of time。 It’s a love letter from our Heavenly Father。 It’s direction for our daily lives。

FINALLY read the entire Bible in one year! Thankful for the Wondered by the Word Bible plan on Youversion, the Bible Project videos on Youtube, and the army of accountability partners I read it with。 I mostly used the NLT, NIV and NKJV translations, which brought it to life in a fascinating way。 The key to approaching the Bible is the same key to get the most value out of a book - to approach it openly and with a level of objectivity that allows you to really take it all in。 From that humble pos FINALLY read the entire Bible in one year! I won’t give this book a rating, because it isn’t my place to put a value on this book。 It is priceless。 However, I will certainly sing God’s praises, because this book changes everything。 The Bible gives hope, life, and freedom in Christ through its message。 It is Holy。 God speaks to us through it。In July of 2019, I decided to challenge myself to read the entire thing, and I’m so glad I did。 It was quite the journey。 I didn’t want to cram it all into one year, so I went at my own pace- I tried I won’t give this book a rating, because it isn’t my place to put a value on this book。 It is priceless。 However, I will certainly sing God’s praises, because this book changes everything。 The Bible gives hope, life, and freedom in Christ through its message。 It is Holy。 God speaks to us through it。In July of 2019, I decided to challenge myself to read the entire thing, and I’m so glad I did。 It was quite the journey。 I didn’t want to cram it all into one year, so I went at my own pace- I tried to read about 3 chapters each day, and if I missed a day, I’d either read extra to catch up, or I’d continue reading my normal amount。 My reason for doing this was because I wanted time to absorb and process God’s messages and lessons。 That, and I didn’t want there to be pressure to perfectly follow my plan to the letter。 Then this would’ve been about the completion and bragging rights, instead of about why God led me to do this: the learning and the growth。 There is so much to be learned from God through scripture, and no one can learn everything in a single lifetime。 Good thing God offers us eternal life with him then, eh?I finally completely this challenge in March of this year, and it felt profound in a way。 I’d attempted it before, but had unfortunately never followed through with it like I did this time。 Maybe because, before, it had felt overwhelming。 God has taught me so much through this, and I’m forever grateful for his grace and mercy。 I’ve still got a lot to learn from this book and from Christ。 It is definitely worth a reread, again and again, although maybe not always cover-to-cover。 This challenge was an avenue God used to grow my faith。 If you feel God encouraging you to do the same, I highly encourage you to listen。 Find what works for you to do it, and go for it。 My heart and support is right there with you。 ❤️ Feel free to message me anytime if you wanna talk about faith, Christ, the Bible, or anything at all, no matter what you believe! 😁 God be with you! 。。。more

NIV is not a horrible translation, it’s very easy to understand, especially if this is your first time reading the Bible (like it was for me)。 it’s more “thought for thought” than “word for word”。 so i would just keep that in mind!

I used Bible Project reading schedule for entire Bible。 Very helpful way to read Bible in a year。

In the last year and a half, God has shown and taught me so much through His Word and it’s amazing flipping through my journalling Bible to see just how many notes/highlights I’ve made。 The Bible really is life changing and I’m really grateful for the privilege of having access to the Scriptures when I know many don’t have that opportunity。 I’m excited to continue studying God’s Word and to further grow in my knowledge of and relationship with Him over the course of my life!

Finally accomplished my bucket list goal of reading the Bible cover to cover in a year! I used the 10:02 reading plan (I highly recommend) which can be found here: https://cornerstonelife。com/bible/I also watched overviews for a lot of the more obscure books before I read them, which was extremely helpful。 The Bible Project channel on YouTube was my go to resource: https://youtube。com/c/bibleproject"Visit many good books, but live in the Bible。" -Charles Spurgeon Finally accomplished my bucket list goal of reading the Bible cover to cover in a year! I had made it a point in 2021 to read my entire way through the bible, having been raised in a religious household but not remaining actively religious, it was just one thing I always wanted to read through, so I made it my 2021 goal。

I've lost count how many times I've used this Chronological edition to read through the Bible。 Highly recommended if you want to better understand the timeline and the history within the scriptures。 I've lost count how many times I've used this Chronological edition to read through the Bible。 Highly recommended if you want to better understand the timeline and the history within the scriptures。 。。。more

There's definitely some good messages throughout the book, however, it's mainly just the dismissal of people who are not men born of Roman, Israel, or Greece。 The Old Testament is far stronger story wise than the New Testament。 The New Testament is mainly St Paul talking about circumcision, women needing to be 'silent' and the sinful nature of 'disobedient' slaves。 Although The Bible is a religous text, I do recommend everyone to read it。 Knowledge of biblical stories help not only in comprehens There's definitely some good messages throughout the book, however, it's mainly just the dismissal of people who are not men born of Roman, Israel, or Greece。 The Old Testament is far stronger story wise than the New Testament。 The New Testament is mainly St Paul talking about circumcision, women needing to be 'silent' and the sinful nature of 'disobedient' slaves。 Although The Bible is a religous text, I do recommend everyone to read it。 Knowledge of biblical stories help not only in comprehension of western texts, but also in allowing you to better understand multiple religious groups。 。。。more

Often boring, but punctuated with some great stories and action。 Downright bipolar in its nature between the first part and the second, but the first part is the only interesting part。 Genesis, Exodus, Joshua, Judges, Samuel, all fine reads, but most of the New Testament is too insane to get through。 Christ offered such a simple formula, which the apostles just had to qualify with so many theological excrescences that the cancer can't not metastasize。 A lot of potential but poorly executed。 Often boring, but punctuated with some great stories and action。 Downright bipolar in its nature between the first part and the second, but the first part is the only interesting part。 Genesis, Exodus, Joshua, Judges, Samuel, all fine reads, but most of the New Testament is too insane to get through。 Christ offered such a simple formula, which the apostles just had to qualify with so many theological excrescences that the cancer can't not metastasize。 A lot of potential but poorly executed。 。。。more

I have a complicated relationship with the Bible。 I grew up a devout atheist until a family friend started talking to me about God。 I converted for a brief period, wasn't really serious about it, and started reading the Bible。 It didn't last。 I was too young to really understand faith。 A couple years later, I was in a really dark place when I joined a Christian community and the beauty of their belief made me want to believe。 So I became a Christian。 There's something truly amazing about faith。 I have a complicated relationship with the Bible。 I grew up a devout atheist until a family friend started talking to me about God。 I converted for a brief period, wasn't really serious about it, and started reading the Bible。 It didn't last。 I was too young to really understand faith。 A couple years later, I was in a really dark place when I joined a Christian community and the beauty of their belief made me want to believe。 So I became a Christian。 There's something truly amazing about faith。 It's almost a magical feeling, knowing that God loves you and understands you unconditionally, believing that no matter what happens, you'll always have God。 For a while, I started reading the Bible again。 I'll forever remember the joy and beauty I found in the Bible。 But then I started feeling cracks in my faith。 I'm an unapologetic feminist and (keep in mind this i my opinion based on what I read) some parts of the Bible don't exactly endorse women's rights。 In some places, the Bible actually comes out and says that gay people are bad。 Some Christians can step back and say, "this is just the historical context。 This should not be interpreted literally。" And I envy that。 I just couldn't think that way because my high school Bible teacher burned into my mind that selective interpretation of the Bible is wrong。 So all those doubts wore at my faith, which gradually crumbled。 I wish I could get it back, but I can't。Look, even though I don't believe, I don't feel the need to prove that the Bible is in any way wrong。 I'm slightly angry at the sarcastic reviews because it's such a big part of so many people's lives。 I just wanted to say that we should respect the fact that some people believe, just like we should respect the fact that some people don't。 。。。more
