Summary

An extraordinarily different story by Robert Munsch is a gentle affirmation of the love a parent feels for their child--forever。 Sheila McGraw's soft and colorful pastels perfectly complement the sentiment of the book--one that will be read repeatedly for years。

After reading “ Love You Forever” the narrative was bittersweet。 The repetition of words always kept my attention, and it was a relatable book。 However, as a child reading this the illustration may not capture my attention。 On the other hand, this book in my opinion would be perfect for developing adolescence to which the real life circumstances are presented。

Who knew that a "kids' book" could make you cry, and your daughter, and your mother。 This is a wonderful book filled with silly humor and stirring emotion。 I will never forget the song that repeats throughout the story—a story that works on so many different levels。 From the love that I share with my own mother and all that she did for me as I grew to the love that I share with my own daughter continuing the circle of love。 I love this book forever。 I like this book for always! Love You Forever teaches children about the unconditional love that their parents or guardians have for them。 Throughout the book the main character gets into trouble, and constantly is giving his mother a hard time, and while he doesn’t always see it, every night she rocks him and tells him that she loves him, and that he will always be her baby。 Even when he becomes an adult she drives across town after he is asleep。 This is a great lesson to teach students that everyone makes mistakes, and ev Love You Forever teaches children about the unconditional love that their parents or guardians have for them。 Throughout the book the main character gets into trouble, and constantly is giving his mother a hard time, and while he doesn’t always see it, every night she rocks him and tells him that she loves him, and that he will always be her baby。 Even when he becomes an adult she drives across town after he is asleep。 This is a great lesson to teach students that everyone makes mistakes, and even though they may not always say it, that there are people that love us unconditionally。 。。。more

This sweet story is all about a mothers love。 We see all the crazy and wild things children are capable of。 No matter how crazy a child can be, a mother will never stop loving her child。

This book seems to be better suited for the adults reading it than the kids。 As an adult reading it, this book was incredibly sad and too real for young kids to fully understand without experiencing loss。 I would not read this in my classroom, but it is a sentimental book for families。

Personally, despite many negative views of this story, I really like it。 It is a touching story that pulls at the heart strings of parents especially。 Watching your children grow and become independent is an inevitable part of being a parent, however, no matter what the love that is there never fails。 This book is a sweet reminder that no matter how old they may get, and no matter how old you get, you will always be there for each other。

This is a good book。 My mom read me this book many times as a child。 A great story about how much parents love their children。 It tells of the great bond beyond a mother and child。 I would recommend this book for parents to read to their children。 Some of it is a little weird but it has a good moral to the story。

I read this years ago but just read it to 3 month old daughter for the first time tonight。 I cried。 I knew how it ended and I still cried! I blame it on her!

When my mom reads this book, she sings a portion of it。 I wasn't able to remember the rhythm or the tune of it and so my reading of it to my kid wasn't nearly as good。 I don't know how you are supposed to learn it。 Perhaps if they have it on audiobook, check it out if you plan to read it aloud to your child and can get the tune right。 [This is like Dr。 Seuss' ABC or Sandra Boynton's Barnyard Dance where they are so much better read with the correct cadence。] When my mom reads this book, she sings a portion of it。 I wasn't able to remember the rhythm or the tune of it and so my reading of it to my kid wasn't nearly as good。 I don't know how you are supposed to learn it。 Perhaps if they have it on audiobook, check it out if you plan to read it aloud to your child and can get the tune right。 [This is like Dr。 Seuss' ABC or Sandra Boynton's Barnyard Dance where they are so much better read with the correct cadence。] 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I cried a lot when I read this book。 It's such a lovely book to read to my 3 and 5 year olds。 At the end when the boy holds his mum and holds her as she dies, it breaks my heart。 Such a beautiful book which I'll read to my children again and again。 I cried a lot when I read this book。 It's such a lovely book to read to my 3 and 5 year olds。 At the end when the boy holds his mum and holds her as she dies, it breaks my heart。 Such a beautiful book which I'll read to my children again and again。 。。。more

Anyone who’s ever read this book knows how cheesy it is, but it gets you every time, no matter how many times you read it。

This book honestly scarred me as a child。 I think I was afraid that I would become the kid in the story

This is a nice book about a mothers love for her child。 When I read this to my children they will learn about a mothers love last forever no matter what they do or their age。 I really like and enjoyed this book and how the mothers ritual became the sons。

love you forever us a great book for families to read to their children。 Most children have someone who takes care of them and knows how they love them。 In the classroom, you can discuss questions about parents or who takes care of them at home。

The book shows the unconditional love that a parent has for their child。 The story follows a little boy that grows up along side with his mom who then eventually dies。 The book shows the love that the mother has。

I rated this book 2 stars because I just didn't really the book。 From guessing by the cover on what the book what be about was the complete opposite when i actually read it。 I see where the author was trying to go with the story and how much love was being spread but overall I didn't like it。 I rated this book 2 stars because I just didn't really the book。 From guessing by the cover on what the book what be about was the complete opposite when i actually read it。 I see where the author was trying to go with the story and how much love was being spread but overall I didn't like it。 。。。more

This was gifted to me when I was pregnant with my son (30 years ago now), and I still can't read it without weeping。 This is the beautiful story of parenthood。 Reading this book gave me a clue into what was about to happen to my life。 I still have the copy of the book that was gifted to me。 It's a treasure。 This was gifted to me when I was pregnant with my son (30 years ago now), and I still can't read it without weeping。 This is the beautiful story of parenthood。 Reading this book gave me a clue into what was about to happen to my life。 I still have the copy of the book that was gifted to me。 It's a treasure。 。。。more

A good book that shows the love and care between a mother and child all the way from birth till adulthood for the child and old age for the mother。

I suppose while I'm tackling controversial picture books, I might as well do this one。 This is one of a triumvirate of controversial/divisive picture books along with The Giving Tree (which I reviewed yesterday) and The Rainbow Fish (which I'm so indifferent to that it's unlikely I'll get around to it)。Unlike The Giving Tree, I didn't have the experience of reading this as a child。 I'm able to extend some grace to The Giving Tree precisely because I remember how I felt when I read it。 Even back I suppose while I'm tackling controversial picture books, I might as well do this one。 This is one of a triumvirate of controversial/divisive picture books along with The Giving Tree (which I reviewed yesterday) and The Rainbow Fish (which I'm so indifferent to that it's unlikely I'll get around to it)。Unlike The Giving Tree, I didn't have the experience of reading this as a child。 I'm able to extend some grace to The Giving Tree precisely because I remember how I felt when I read it。 Even back then I got that it wasn't about a healthy, aspirational relationship。 I also have fond memories of playing the tree in a school production, and my sweet sister-in-law gifted me a copy of this book at my baby shower。 I also have an abiding fondness for Shel Silverstein and his work。 There is a lot that goes into our feelings about a book - *when* we read it being just one piece of that puzzle。 I never read this particular book as a child, and it was gifted to me by a person I don't like。 Strike one。 I was instantly put off by the odious cover art, and the inside pages aren't much better。 Strike two。 And, ugh, the sappy, overstated, creepy story。 Strike three。 To sum up, I strongly dislike this book。 Frankly, it's hard to square the fact that this is the same author as the clever and beloved The Paper Bag Princess! But, I don't call myself the great equivocator for nothing。 I can see the appeal。 I could see a little kid finding this story sweet and reassuring and even a little silly。 Fiction often overstates things for dramatic effect。 It's not meant to be taken literally。。。yada yada yada。 But, for me, it's a no。 。。。more
