Summary

At the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured in New York with the help of Newt Scamander。 But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escapes custody and sets about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings。

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists Newt, his former Hogwarts student, who agrees to help once again, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead。 Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world。

This second original screenplay from J。K。 Rowling, illustrated with stunning line art from MinaLima, expands on earlier events that helped shaped the wizarding world, with some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of both the books and films。

For the beautiful cover lol。 But I like the story too。

Tbh I never thought I would like reading screenplays but reading the little details that the movie portrays subtlety and nonverbally is so cool!!!

Not a fan of Rowling's periphery stories。 They have so much potential to enhance the already-great world of Harry Potter but feel too contrived for me。 Not a fan of Rowling's periphery stories。 They have so much potential to enhance the already-great world of Harry Potter but feel too contrived for me。 。。。more

Rowling really does know how to paint the picture but this story was more of the same in my understanding。 There was some continuation and revelations which I honestly didn't expect but nothing of the original sort。 It makes me sad to see that the Potter world is being milked for money。 The crimes of Grindelwald aren't exactly addressed regardless of the title which was quite disappointing and left me rooting for the supposed antagonist rather than hating him after reading the speech he poses to Rowling really does know how to paint the picture but this story was more of the same in my understanding。 There was some continuation and revelations which I honestly didn't expect but nothing of the original sort。 It makes me sad to see that the Potter world is being milked for money。 The crimes of Grindelwald aren't exactly addressed regardless of the title which was quite disappointing and left me rooting for the supposed antagonist rather than hating him after reading the speech he poses to his followers。 It's true that he kills many aurors and such but only because they kept pursuing him for no clear reason。 It's obvious that he is extremely clever and not to be trifled with。 The fact that Dumbledore couldn't really fight him because of a blood pact wasn't much of an inconvenience and it was rather stupid how little conflict came across especially having read this a year or so after watching the movie adaptation。 I do look forward to the third screenplay as perhaps the characters' ancestries will be conveyed more clearly。This was, despite the above, great and a brilliant lure which served to pull me back into the wizarding world after so many months。 It was a quick read and there many wasted pages, not including the illustrations of course, those are awesome。 I want to see the romance spark between Tina and Newt and Queenie and Jacob。 This time of turmoil will definitely be delved into in the coming scripts which might take who knows how long to write and how much longer to film。。。 The Depp issues and the pandemic really set them back。。。 SPOILER ALERT, why are we told that Credence is Dumbledore's long lost brother Aurelius as the final few sentences? I get that it was to raise suspense for the coming book but nevertheless, it would have made the story much more interesting had it started with the information。 Guess that's what will inevitably happen when the third volume is published。 。。。more

In my opinion not as good as the first book。 Was all left on a bit of a cliff hanger so desperately awaiting the next book。

I prefer this movie to fantastic beasts。 I read it while playing the movie like I did before, still fun。 The 3 stars is because I prefer "real" books and not script ones。 And the 0,75 because it's better than the other one in my opinion。 Also, the book had prettier illustrations。 I prefer this movie to fantastic beasts。 I read it while playing the movie like I did before, still fun。 The 3 stars is because I prefer "real" books and not script ones。 And the 0,75 because it's better than the other one in my opinion。 Also, the book had prettier illustrations。 。。。more

Definitely more J。 K。 Rowling style than the Fantastic Beasts。 Nice plot and story。 Waiting for more。。。

what’s a book ban?

It's like I said, it's just like the movie。I have it and read it just to complete my Harry Potter shelf, but I think since I read this after the movie came out there was no reason for me to read it。 I wouldn't re-read it, but the first read was enjoyable to keep me busy。 It's like I said, it's just like the movie。I have it and read it just to complete my Harry Potter shelf, but I think since I read this after the movie came out there was no reason for me to read it。 I wouldn't re-read it, but the first read was enjoyable to keep me busy。 。。。more

3。5 First, I want to mention first the same things I did when reviewing Fantastic Beasts: As someone who is interested in screen and play writing, this was a good read as you can learn from it。 However, as it is literally a play by play of the movie it can get boring and tedious if you've already seen it。I would say that if you are interested as well in writing script, or even just curious about how they look and work, read it。 If it is not something that calls your attention, if you get easi 3。5 First, I want to mention first the same things I did when reviewing Fantastic Beasts: As someone who is interested in screen and play writing, this was a good read as you can learn from it。 However, as it is literally a play by play of the movie it can get boring and tedious if you've already seen it。I would say that if you are interested as well in writing script, or even just curious about how they look and work, read it。 If it is not something that calls your attention, if you get easily bored, or expect the script to contain more scenes or extra information about the movie, I would recommend that you have these things in mind when picking up this "book"。 Second, I am docking half a star because I feel that sometimes Rowling forgot that she was writing a script and not a novel。 I understand and respect that this is a new field for her and that she was, and is, learning as she goes。 However, I couldn't help but feel a little irritated when it came to some actions that are stated given the fact that as an audience we may not be able to tell or recognize when watching the movie。Also, despite this movie having an extended cut, the screenplay does not include any of the deleted scenes you may experience if you watch said cut。 Nevertheless, if you pay close attention, you might be able to find some differences between movie and script。 。。。more

"Grindelwald doesn't seem to understand the nature of things he considers simple。" The chilling tale of a wizard demagogue rising to power。 I admire Rowling's determination to take us into more complex maybe even unpopular territory here (that is after the Harry Potter books)。 We're dealing with more politics, ethics, social prejudice, cult of personality。。。 With an important role that people who try to live by science, objectivity may play in the grand scheme of things。 The moment when even the "Grindelwald doesn't seem to understand the nature of things he considers simple。" The chilling tale of a wizard demagogue rising to power。 I admire Rowling's determination to take us into more complex maybe even unpopular territory here (that is after the Harry Potter books)。 We're dealing with more politics, ethics, social prejudice, cult of personality。。。 With an important role that people who try to live by science, objectivity may play in the grand scheme of things。 The moment when even they need to support a political cause。 In this book there are fascinating and real-life dilemmas。 I get the sense Fantastic Beasts stay slightly undervalued, maybe misunderstood。 Some people can't see through the gimmicky factor of cute animals, retro setting, some grotesque simplistic Jacob humour etc。 For me though this is a powerful study of reality even if set in a fun magical world。 。。。more

I did not think much of this screenplay to begin with, but the story was captivating and the author sure knows how to tell a story。 Might even be tempted to see the movie again 。。。 not that I recall much of it, apart from Eddie Redmayne。 Good script。

I think the overall story of the boo is pretty good。 However, the pacing is a bit strange and feels too slow in places and rushed in others。 Fun to read as long as you don't take it too seriously。 I think the overall story of the boo is pretty good。 However, the pacing is a bit strange and feels too slow in places and rushed in others。 Fun to read as long as you don't take it too seriously。 。。。more
