Fun and very helpful book。 While I read through the entire book, I will refer to it frequently for recipes。

I've never put a cookbook on my goodreads profile before, but I actually did read this one cover-to-cover。 I've had an Instant Pot for nearly two years but it felt intimidating so I left it in the cupboard。 I've decided to give myself "mini challenges" each month in 2021, and for February, it's figuring out how to use the Instant Pot, and then use it once a week。 Enter this book 。。。 First of all, if you're like me and have an Instant Pot but are scared of it, get this book! I read the whole introduction on how to use it, the different buttons, how to depressurize, everything。 And this book really does cover it all - with lots of photos。 It also shows different models of Instant Pots so you can recognize those buttons (which apparently vary slightly) on your model。 The recipes not only include step-by-step instructions, but there are multiple photos of each recipe in the various stages, as well。 The recipes also include helpful hints like, "It's going to feel like theres a lot of spinach in there and it will come up to the brim of the pot, but don't worry-it cooks down to nothing!" After reading this book, I decided I was ready。 I started with the "Best Ever Pot Roast" as the author said it was his most popular recipe。 Early in the cooking process I unfortunately discovered a fatal flaw。 MINE, not the book's。 I had an Instant Pot MINI! The mini will not fit a 3 pound roast。 However, I did manage to get the recipe to work with a smaller piece of meat and no carrots。 LOL。 There are tons of good, basic recipes in here。 From hard boiled eggs and rice (so easy!), to soups, pastas, chicken, meat, even desserts。 I have a few highlighted to try later this month。 The author says himself that he's not a trained chef, just someone who fell in love with the ease of using his Instant Pot。 So, the recipes aren't gourmet by any stretch, but they're good, basic recipes。 I also have The Ultimate Instant Pot Cookbook: 200 Deliciously Simple Recipes for Your Electric Pressure Cooker and it has a lot more recipes, many that look delicious, and impressive。 But it doesn't have the introduction that The Step-by-Step book has, and not nearly as many photos。 If you're a beginner, get this one。 If you're more seasoned, get the other too。 They're both really good, but this one helped me overcome my intimidation of pressure cooking。 The recipes are not going to blow you away, but they're basic, weeknight cooking type meals。Lastly, my pro tip - do not buy an Instant Pot Mini at all unless you're obsessed with Instant Pot cooking and want to use it for side dishes, traveling (it's apparently portable, but it's still really big!) or cooking for two。 This cookbook doesn't really have recipes for two, but that's fine by me。 I'm going to ditch my mini anyway! 。。。more

definitely a few recipes in here i want to make that i don't have yet, like the chicken shawarma。 where there is overlap with recipes i do have i feel confident i can combine them into what i want。 this book calls for a lot more pre-made or store-bought pre-made ingredients than the first IP cookbook i bought, and i took a star off for that combined with fewer ingredient substitutions in case of allergies or dietary restrictions or if you just don't have access where you live to an ingredient me definitely a few recipes in here i want to make that i don't have yet, like the chicken shawarma。 where there is overlap with recipes i do have i feel confident i can combine them into what i want。 this book calls for a lot more pre-made or store-bought pre-made ingredients than the first IP cookbook i bought, and i took a star off for that combined with fewer ingredient substitutions in case of allergies or dietary restrictions or if you just don't have access where you live to an ingredient mentioned。 still, it will definitely be put to good use and has far more international and ethnic recipes than many other IP books, even though i know i would make adjustments to many, as well as more recipes that include rice and pasta where the rice isn't always risotto or brown。 。。。more

This book is perfect for me。 I just bought an Instant Pot and it seemed impossible to me until I found this cookbook。 The beginning tells you everything you need to know about operating it and then gets in to all of the recipes。 It’s great because each recipe has a picture with instructions for each step。 I just made the rigatoni bolognese tonight and it was delicious。 I can’t wait to try more of the recipes。

Such a fun cookbook! It's enjoyable for reading and meal planning, moreso than the average cookbook。 This is a great way to get to know your way around an instant pot。 It's as if the author is your witty friend, in your kitchen talking, and guiding you。 The pictures and tips are phenomenal。 It only lost a star for me because I can't say I've loooooooved all of the actual food。 Some were good, some were great, none were bad。 Perhaps after trying a few more recipes I'll be able to knock it up to f Such a fun cookbook! I discovered Jeffrey Eisner on Facebook and became a huge fan of his recipes and videos。 I looked forward to seeing his cookbook 。 This is one instance where I think a hard copy would have been more enjoyable than the Kindle edition on my iPad。 I understand Jeffrey has a new cookbook coming out this spring and I look forward to seeing his new recipes。

Love the Hot and Sour SoupJeffrey Eisner belongs to one of the Facebook groups I follow。 In fact, his Hot and Sour Soup recipe is so good, I bought this cookbook。 His recipes are detailed, come with pictures, and I have marked quite a few to try。 I'm lactose intolerant so there are a number I can't try, but they look and sound delicious。 I was one of those that received an Instant Pot as a gift and didn't know what to do with it。 At about the same time, my favorite Chinese takeout place changed Love the Hot and Sour SoupJeffrey Eisner belongs to one of the Facebook groups I follow。 In fact, his Hot and Sour Soup recipe is so good, I bought this cookbook。 His recipes are detailed, come with pictures, and I have marked quite a few to try。 I'm lactose intolerant so there are a number I can't try, but they look and sound delicious。 I was one of those that received an Instant Pot as a gift and didn't know what to do with it。 At about the same time, my favorite Chinese takeout place changed their Hot and Sour soup recipe from a nice broth to one that has an over abundance of tofu, which I don't like。 Went searching for a recipe that is easy to make and that could be frozen in serving portions。 There are comments and notes on how to make some of these recipes vegan, vegetarian, Keto friendly, etc。 There are pictures for those of us that just stare and wonder what to do with this one kitchen appliance。 There is plenty of variety。 I am more than happy with this purchase, and I highly recommend。 。。。more

I bought this before getting an actual Instant Pot for two reasons。 One, by committing to a purchase over finding recipes online, it was my first step to most likely getting one。 Secondly, because finding a good recipe in a book just feels better than sharing a link。 I'm not even that old (27 years old) but I feel a sense of pride owning a cookbook。A lot of the recipes in this book sounded phenomenal! Even seafood recipes, which I tend to eat sparingly with my gout, I plan to make! I think this is an amazing book and eye-candy for all foodies and aspiring home instant pot chefs。The step by step photo instructions make things super simple and will excite even the most timid first time instant pot user。 While there are several recipes to gradually introduce instant pot newbies to the appliance, advanced users will also find dozens and dozens of recipes they can try out。 So really this book is for newbies and advanced users alike。The only reason I gave the book four stars ins I think this is an amazing book and eye-candy for all foodies and aspiring home instant pot chefs。The step by step photo instructions make things super simple and will excite even the most timid first time instant pot user。 While there are several recipes to gradually introduce instant pot newbies to the appliance, advanced users will also find dozens and dozens of recipes they can try out。 So really this book is for newbies and advanced users alike。The only reason I gave the book four stars instead of five was because I’m a huge fan of make ahead or prep ahead dishes and this recipe book is not meant for that。 However it is still a fantastic book and one which I will use。 。。。more

The good and the badThis is a great cookbook in regards to telling you what to do and when。 For this novice instant pot user this helped me get over my fear of this device and become familiar with it at the same time。 That was great and I feel more confident now to explore this cooking style。 The bad。。。 the two recipes I tried- beef short ribs (Asian style) and chicken and broccoli (also Asian style) were good, but not great。 The flavors weren’t as intense as I expected and the liquid was by far The good and the badThis is a great cookbook in regards to telling you what to do and when。 For this novice instant pot user this helped me get over my fear of this device and become familiar with it at the same time。 That was great and I feel more confident now to explore this cooking style。 The bad。。。 the two recipes I tried- beef short ribs (Asian style) and chicken and broccoli (also Asian style) were good, but not great。 The flavors weren’t as intense as I expected and the liquid was by far way too much even with the cornstarch slurries (both recipes had them)。 I feel like it decreased the flavor。 I have always been a big slow cooker fan and I was curious as to how the instant pot would be as far as taste and ease。。。 so far, I can say that the slow cooker is still my favorite as far as ease, hands down。 The instant pot is great as far as time constraints- I made a chicken noodle soup (recipe from a friend) in less than an hour that was fantastic! I have a feeling I will come back to this recipe book once I get more confident in my instant pot skills because I believe, once tweaked a bit, there are some recipe keepers here。 Overall, I’m happy with the instruction and still have much to explore with this book。 。。。more
