Summary

‘Highly readable and compelling’ Daily Telegraph
_______________

What an extraordinary journey it has been for Meghan Markle。 In this fully revised and updated biography, Andrew Morton navigates the at times baffling twists and turns of a royal saga that has both engaged and enraged those inside and outside the palace walls。 It has taken just three short years for Meghan and Harry to be transformed from golden couple to royal outsiders living in a sprawling mansion in Montecito in California and cutting multi-million-dollar deals with media moguls。

From the frothy fun and laughter of her wedding day to darker days and the isolation, loneliness and prejudice she experienced, amplified by what the couple considered to be the sexism and racism of the mass media。 Add to that the high and lows of motherhood –the joy of the births of her two beautiful children and the sadness of a miscarriage late into her second pregnancy – it has been nothing less than an emotional rollercoaster

Morton draws on exclusive interviews with those closest to Meghan to uncover the story of her life, from her fractious childhood growing up in the Valley in LA, through her previous marriage and divorce, her struggles in Hollywood, her work as a humanitarian ambassador, her life as the Duchess of Sussex – and the seemingly bottomless rift that has developed between the Sussexes and the House of Windsor。

Niet zolang Meghan Harry meesleept in haar gedraai en het nastreven van Diana。 。。。more

This wasn't my first go ahead at reading about Meghan Markle。 My first literary introduction to Meghan was in Finding Freedom by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand。 This biography I feel was even more enjoyable since it dealt with a thorough look at her early life before meeting Harry。 I didn't rate this book 5 stars due to the feeling of bias towards the end of the book of Meghan being the culprit of the dissolution of her royal status。 That rubbed me the wrong way a tad。 This wasn't my first go ahead at reading about Meghan Markle。 My first literary introduction to Meghan was in Finding Freedom by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand。 This biography I feel was even more enjoyable since it dealt with a thorough look at her early life before meeting Harry。 I didn't rate this book 5 stars due to the feeling of bias towards the end of the book of Meghan being the culprit of the dissolution of her royal status。 That rubbed me the wrong way a tad。 。。。more

I do not think this portrayed Meghan Markle in the best light and was too gossipy and one-sided like a tabloid。 I feel like if I was ever friends with a celebrity, she would be one of them because she is down to earth and sensitive。 That is the only redeeming qualities of this book。 Amazing a friend set her up on a blind date, and it ended up being Prince Harry。 She does deserve to be happy。I thought this was poorly written and one-sided。 Definitely not the best biography or depiction of Markle。

I found this to be a very interesting take on Meghan Markle and her experiences with the Royal Family。 The beginning of the book is much more detailed and dense than the last half。 The 2nd half seemed to be more of a summary of reports and previous articles but I did find the comparisons to Princess Diana fascinating and very sad at the same time。 I found the author's writing to be confusing in his bias。 At times it felt very defensive of Meghan and then would flip to seem as if he was implying I found this to be a very interesting take on Meghan Markle and her experiences with the Royal Family。 The beginning of the book is much more detailed and dense than the last half。 The 2nd half seemed to be more of a summary of reports and previous articles but I did find the comparisons to Princess Diana fascinating and very sad at the same time。 I found the author's writing to be confusing in his bias。 At times it felt very defensive of Meghan and then would flip to seem as if he was implying she was manipulative and not truthful。 Overall, if you keep up with the royal family, this will definitely be an interesting and entertaining read! Thanks to Grand Central Publishing for a gifted copy。My reviews can also be seen at www。instagram。com/justonemoorebook。 。。。more

In this biography about Meghan Markle, Andrew Morton chronicles Meghan's life from her childhood to the time when she and Prince Harry separated from the Royal Family。 It includes many key parts of her pre-Harry life, including her private Catholic school experience, her formative years as a young activist, her college years, and her strive to break out in the acting scene。 Markle showed from an early age that she was confident, ambitious, and a natural leader who loves the spotlight。 She has ne In this biography about Meghan Markle, Andrew Morton chronicles Meghan's life from her childhood to the time when she and Prince Harry separated from the Royal Family。 It includes many key parts of her pre-Harry life, including her private Catholic school experience, her formative years as a young activist, her college years, and her strive to break out in the acting scene。 Markle showed from an early age that she was confident, ambitious, and a natural leader who loves the spotlight。 She has never shied away from attention and acting seemed to be the perfect career for her。 From an early age, her father (a lighting director) has taught her how to best present herself not only in how she looks but also how she carries herself。 Many have pegged her as a social climber but I think anyone in the entertainment business who is ambitious could be judged in the same way。 I appreciated that this book highlighted Meghan's humanitarian efforts because this perspective was new to me。 Since she was young, she has advocated for gender equality and human rights。 It has been a constant driving force in everything she does。 Markle used her former website and social media accounts as a platform and opportunity to shed light on these types of issues。 Markle also spent many years working with the UN and other organizations in touring and speaking about gender equality and issues affecting women around the world。 Since her relationship with Harry has been public, Meghan has experienced an inordinate amount of bullying from the public and media。 The disturbing racism and sexism from trolls added to the isolation that she felt from the Royal Family and this contributed to her depression and suicidal thoughts。 Mental health is something that needs to be talked about and the fact that she made her struggles public is a big step for the cause。 This was a thorough and detailed biography that was very informative for me, as someone who didn't know much about Meghan Markle before I read this book。 ⚠️: racism, bullying, depression, suicidal thoughts, miscarriage 。。。more
