Alternated between enjoying and shaking my head。 But I liked the characters more than in most rom coms。

I was expecting a lil bit more smut but the book is just what I needed。The characters are nice, the story is cute and the writing is clear enough。I would 100% recommend it if you’re in a reading slump and need something to get you back into it。

Enjoyable cute, funny rom-com。

A little hard to believe the events of the book happened over only three days, but cute story。

This fulfilled my desire for an easy, quick read that i could lounge on the couch and get lost in。 Very cute, pretty cliche, I would rank it right behind “this time next year”。

I loved this easy to read, light hearted rom-com! Touching on serious topics in a book like this isn’t always easy but Sophie cousens did so incredibly well in this! I was left wanting more- but also happy that the end of the book was the way I expected!

Do you have treasured items that you have kept in honor of those you love?In this lovely story, Laura has held close some items from her mom and dad, including a coin necklace that played a part in her grandparents’ and parents love story。 For a story, she travels back to the island where her parents met to find out more and ends up discovering the most important legacies aren’t found in items, but in the love that is passed down。 I thought this was such an endearing story。 I enjoyed how Laura’s Do you have treasured items that you have kept in honor of those you love?In this lovely story, Laura has held close some items from her mom and dad, including a coin necklace that played a part in her grandparents’ and parents love story。 For a story, she travels back to the island where her parents met to find out more and ends up discovering the most important legacies aren’t found in items, but in the love that is passed down。 I thought this was such an endearing story。 I enjoyed how Laura’s view of love changed and how she evolved throughout her journey。 Ted was my favorite, as well as his dad, Gerry。 The whole crew on the island, as well as the island itself, were so charming。I look forward to reading more by this author! 。。。more

This was a sweet story that was almost more journey-to-finding-yourself in a small town with a side of romance than straight romance。 Laura, a journalist, yearns to meet ‘the one’ with her checklist of qualifications that rely on the yardstick of her parent's impossibly romantic story。 It wasn't hard to figure out how this story was going to go from the start。 But the focus seemed more on Laura's journey to understand herself and her family。 Despite her being thirty or near thirty, this felt mor This was a sweet story that was almost more journey-to-finding-yourself in a small town with a side of romance than straight romance。 Laura, a journalist, yearns to meet ‘the one’ with her checklist of qualifications that rely on the yardstick of her parent's impossibly romantic story。 It wasn't hard to figure out how this story was going to go from the start。 But the focus seemed more on Laura's journey to understand herself and her family。 Despite her being thirty or near thirty, this felt more like a coming-of-age story in some ways。 Laura felt much younger than near thirty。 And I couldn't really connect with her。 I get what she was looking for, true love (albeit based on unrealistic ideas), but a story like her parents。 But this is where she felt younger than she was supposed to be。 More like a college-age girl with her over idealistic, fairy-tale love expectations。 And so it felt a bit icky that it was Ted who was her love match。 He was a decade older than her, had been married, and although he clearly had some issues, I just felt with her seeming like she was 20 instead of 30 and him pushing 40 and then with her father issues, well 。 。 。 icky。 But it's easily overlooked since Ted also came across as a bit younger。 Given his backstory, he clearly could have been hard。 It could have been enemies to lovers trope instead of mistaken love。 Also, I never felt the chemistry between them, nor did I see it between her and Jasper either。 I will say it was refreshing that both the love interests were nice guys。 No asshole behavior。 Not even roguish behavior。 Just respectful and fun。 And despite feeling icky about Ted and Laura together, Ted did genuinely come across as a nice guy。 As for the story, I did find some of the scenes unnecessary and rather fluff to expand the page count。 But it was a great advert for Jersey since the bulk of the story was set in Jersey。 And I'm now dying to visit。 Overall, I found this is an undemanding read。 It didn’t blow me away。 It didn't give me all the feels like the books by Abby Jimenez, Josie Silver, or Lyssa Kay Adams。 This isn't a story that will stick with me。 But I enjoyed it enough to finish it。 It's definitely what I'd classify as a beach read。 。。。more

I just adored this novel! I laughed out loud, teared up a time or two, and just loved the plot and story line。 I loved Laura’s search for the Suitcase Man and the funny happenings along that journey。 Even though it’s written as a light-hearted rom-com, the authors deeper messages reached me in spades。

Mariah

LOVED Ted。 Such a sweet gentleman。 This was such a heartwarming story。

Sometimes you just need a cute love story with a predictable appropriate suitor and a nice enough inappropriate one。 Just haven’t met you yet provided that along with a heroine that has a family history of grand love gestures, and a few misconceptions to work through。 I loved the setting, the meet cute of both appropriate and inappropriate suitors to be honest。 It was just a really enjoyable story。

I think Ted is the most realistic RomCom character I have ever read- I’m pretty sure I love him。 This was so fun to read! I was giggling and fist bumping the air the whole time。 I didn’t even see Ted coming until I was like 25% in。 No spice。 An adorable read that I could recommend to my mom。 Also the description of Ted and Laura’s time together as “movie sex” was beyond great- an aspiration I wish to achieve。 *chef’s kiss*Special thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Group Putnam Publishing for my dig I think Ted is the most realistic RomCom character I have ever read- I’m pretty sure I love him。 This was so fun to read! I thought this was a lovely little romance, just what I needed after this year! It helped to satisfy this growing wanderlust I've had since the pandemic, and I loved exploring the isle of Jersey - somewhere I really want to visit。I really got the feeling of a tight-knit community on the island, which was a major contrast to Laura and her life in London。 Laura overall was a good protagonist, I enjoyed seeing her journey - she felt stuck in her line of work and romantically, after constantly inter I thought this was a lovely little romance, just what I needed after this year! I much preferred the low-key, laid-back, and relaxed feel for the Jersey community! 。。。more

Sophie Cousens might be my new favorite rom-com writer。 Her characters are full and vibrant and extremely likable。 Her stories are as much about self discovery as about relationships。 They are funny and delightful and fairly clean。 I liked this one even better than her first book, but both were enjoyable。
