Summary

Ayurveda (Sanskrit for -science of life-), a consciousness-based system of healing, is stepping up to close the gaps between thinking, knowing, feeling, and doing。 Idiot's Guides: Ayurveda focuses on the mind-body connection and explain that our experiences--including perceptions and lifestyle choices--are metabolized into molecules in our bodies and will help you make the most life-affirming choices for your optimal health and well-being。

The book includes:

- Ways to achieve and maintain long-term mental and physical wellness based on a unique combination of fundamental energies。
- Suggestions for daytime and nighttime routines and rituals for optimum balance to achieve harmony and to ward off disease。
- Tips to keep you ayurvedically-balanced as you age, including how to care for your body inside and out。
- A thorough description of the doshas, their characteristics, how they differ, and a questionnaire to aid readers into determining their dosha。

It was a basic manual about Ayurveda and great for beginners。 I was turned off by the body shaming and laughed when BMI was mentioned as an indicator of health。 It’s 2021 everyone should know by now how ridiculous that is。 I will research a book with more in depth info and hopefully less body shaming。

It was very informative。 Love some of the tips and information provided。 The diet is not something I would fully follow, but I can add some of the foods and spices into my foods。 Excellent resource。

I found this book met all the claims it makes。 It’s simple, digestible and a great way to begin learning about Ayurveda。 Additionally, it’s organization makes it easy to reflect back on sections and review information I’ve consumed。 Again, a great beginners guide and jumping point to learn more about Ayurveda。

This is a straightforward, extremely informative book that will help anyone work through the multiple terms associated with Ayurvedic practices。 It certainly is a reference text since one will need to refresh oneself on the many details。

I think this was a good simple and easy to follow and understand introduction to Ayurveda and it’s basic core principles - for a beginner which I am。。。I’m sure there is much more to it and the rabbit hole and concepts taught go far deeper - but great starter educational book to begin ones journey in to the field of Ayurveda- especially if you are a newbie like me at the time of reading this book, but has provided me with a good understanding to proceed further。To Our Continued Success!Seemy http I think this was a good simple and easy to follow and understand introduction to Ayurveda and it’s basic core principles - for a beginner which I am。。。I’m sure there is much more to it and the rabbit hole and concepts taught go far deeper - but great starter educational book to begin ones journey in to the field of Ayurveda- especially if you are a newbie like me at the time of reading this book, but has provided me with a good understanding to proceed further。To Our Continued Success!Seemy http://www。WaseemMirza。net 。。。more

This was a good beginner's guide to ayurveda for me。 The beginning sections seemed redundant though and overall it becomes confusing as to what diet and/or oils to use when someone is Vata but has some Kapha ailment。 I think in the end, like anything else, it's about balance。 Many of the ingredients in the diet aren't items I enjoy eating such as beans and lentils so it wouldn't be practical for me。 However, I will try out tongue scraping, oil pulling and oil massages more often。 I recently lear This was a good beginner's guide to ayurveda for me。 The beginning sections seemed redundant though and overall it becomes confusing as to what diet and/or oils to use when someone is Vata but has some Kapha ailment。 I think in the end, like anything else, it's about balance。 Many of the ingredients in the diet aren't items I enjoy eating such as beans and lentils so it wouldn't be practical for me。 However, I will try out tongue scraping, oil pulling and oil massages more often。 I recently learned about the double cleanse method in skincare, using an oil cleanser (similar concept of like likes like and will pull sunscreen or makeup off easier) followed by a gentle cleanser, so the theory behind oil pulling makes some sense from a scientific perspective。 It seems as if oil is used for everything though, including nose, ears and eyes。 Not sure how many of those practices I would try。 。。。more

I enjoyed this book, however I found it slower to read than I thought。 Much of the content about Ayurveda was review for me until I got to the middle of the book。 I was looking for more ways to adjust my daily schedule and eating habits。 I think I have found some new tips to help create balance in my life

As an introduction to the healing science of ayurveda, I thought this book was informative and well-organized。

¡Excelente!
