this is one of the most boring books i have ever read。 David williams never usually fails to ingage me, but this time it wa just boring and there was barely any fun partaking in this book。 yes there were silly and stupid words but, they don’t make the book very good! 2 stars from me

What a fun and amusing adventure for me and my kids to read together! Really good book! Fantastic!

Not Walliams’ worst! I could have done without the delightful mental image of a gorilla pooping out a train window。。。 but it all came together in the end with some good old fashioned Nazi villains。

I really like this book。 It tells you about World War II and the worst, deadliest person ever: Adolf Hitler。 And the three go on a big adventure, trying to save Gertrude the Gorilla。 I would recommend this book to be important because it teaches you about World War II。

An excellent and humorous read。 Walliams merges historically accurate elements of World War 2 Britain, with a quirky and charming tale; where an old man, a young boy and a gorilla star as the protagonists。The book is gripping throughout and is littered with repetitive onomatopoeias, which would be very fun to read aloud。 The end of the book contains a non-fiction epilogue about the Second World War, making it relevant to read alongside History lessons。This energetic and hilarious read would be e An excellent and humorous read。 Walliams merges historically accurate elements of World War 2 Britain, with a quirky and charming tale; where an old man, a young boy and a gorilla star as the protagonists。The book is gripping throughout and is littered with repetitive onomatopoeias, which would be very fun to read aloud。 The end of the book contains a non-fiction epilogue about the Second World War, making it relevant to read alongside History lessons。This energetic and hilarious read would be extremely enjoyable for early Key Stage 2 pupils, in years 3 and 4。 。。。more

Super funny! Code Name Bananas is a great book for all the family。 I was thinking that it would not be interesting, as I am not too fascinated with history (the story is set in World War 2) but it was actually a nice story。

The book follows Eric, a young boy during WW2, who spends most of his free time at the zoo befriending Gertrude the Gorilla。 As the raids go on over London, Eric and his grandad find themselves having to save Gertrude from being put down and during their escapades they foil a nazi plot。 Personally, I didn't find this book that enjoyable。 The style of Walliams writing can be off putting (using onomatopoeia and different style text to exaggerate or emphasise a part), but for children, it is probab The book follows Eric, a young boy during WW2, who spends most of his free time at the zoo befriending Gertrude the Gorilla。 As the raids go on over London, Eric and his grandad find themselves having to save Gertrude from being put down and during their escapades they foil a nazi plot。 Personally, I didn't find this book that enjoyable。 The style of Walliams writing can be off putting (using onomatopoeia and different style text to exaggerate or emphasise a part), but for children, it is probably good as it teaches them how to use different techniques when writing their own stories。 。。。more

My son still loves me to read him and I’m happy to read these awesome kids books。 David Walliams is a master storyteller for all ages。 This book is set in London’s during the Second World War and introduces the younger generation to this important piece of history without it being traumatic。 This was just the backdrop to the great gorilla heist! Eric and his zoo keeper uncle Sid rescue Gertrude the Gorilla from London Zoo and go on the run! Highly recommended。
