This is probably the best book on simple drawing I've found。 GREAT tips and some really CUTE stuff。 I especially liked the hamster with his cheeks full of seeds, the facial expressions (which is what I really needed help with), and the hairstyles。 Highly recommended for 4 through 104-year-old readers! The author is right。 Cute things really do make you smile。 I was feeling a little stuck in my visual journaling and this book helped break through the blocks。 I deeply enjoyed the experience of drawing along。

My only wish is that there were some practice pages。 Otherwise it is very well done and easy to follow。

Very cute and will be fun to use to guide end of remote learning art lessons - I do wish there was a tiny bit more instruction。 Quarantine 2020 book。

I was not born with artistic talent。 I have many talents but drawing and creating is not one of them。 Many other people in my family have some amazing artistic talent and some even make a living off of drawing, painting, and creating。 I’ve always been jealous of their ability to just grab a pencil and draw an animal or a cute person or a building。 I just don’t have it。I actually purchased this book for myself as a way to teach myself to draw and try to inspire some creativity。 The instructions a I was not born with artistic talent。 I have many talents but drawing and creating is not one of them。 Many other people in my family have some amazing artistic talent and some even make a living off of drawing, painting, and creating。 I’ve always been jealous of their ability to just grab a pencil and draw an animal or a cute person or a building。 I just don’t have it。I actually purchased this book for myself as a way to teach myself to draw and try to inspire some creativity。 The instructions are fairly basic and there are lots of categories to choose from。 From drawing astronauts to cowgirls, dogs to a dolphin, tables to food and trees。 They all have some cute characteristics and ways to add to them to adapt to your interests。It was fun to follow the steps and create to the best of MY ability。 There are so many things you can choose to draw that there would be something for every interest。 The author gives a brief introduction to drawing at the beginning of the book including tools to use and techniques including shapes to begin drawings with。Angela Nguyen specializes in drawing cute stuff and is well known for her creations。 She loves to use her doodles and illustrations to make people happy。 She hopes this book will encourage beginners or artists to create cute stuff too。 Elementary-aged kids through adults will have fun trying to create cute things。 You could add your little drawings to a birthday card or a child’s lunch note。 Kids will like adding their drawings to notebooks or practicing their doodling。 。。。more

WELCOME TO APRIL PROJECT!APRIL PROJECT IS OVER!!i don't understand drawing books。 they all just tell you to draw a bunch of shapes and then spend the rest of the day erasing where the overlap。 this can't be how art is made, or banksy would get so busted。 this book is all very simple kawaii stuff, so i thought it would be easier, but it's that same brand of shape-stacking instructions:i think i need more guidance than circles and tips like "All you need for cuteness is roundness and faces," WELCOME TO APRIL PROJECT!APRIL PROJECT IS OVER!!i don't understand drawing books。 they all just tell you to draw a bunch of shapes and then spend the rest of the day erasing where the overlap。 this can't be how art is made, or banksy would get so busted。 this book is all very simple kawaii stuff, so i thought it would be easier, but it's that same brand of shape-stacking instructions:i think i need more guidance than circles and tips like "All you need for cuteness is roundness and faces," but i'll give it a shot! there's only one edition of this book, so i'll have to cram the monthly project into one review space somehow。 i'll sprawl a little on day 1 and then try to keep it high and tight。 wish me luck in both my endeavors! for now i am going to stick to this chapter: APRIL 1because it is easter, i will start with bunnies!this is how i draw a bunny now, using my favorite life model:let's see what this book can teach me。am i a bunny yet?are we bunnies?they might be better colored in。 i will try to do that tonight。 done:APRIL 2there are some chubby hamsters, with one big-eyed interloper for sorento62。APRIL 3bats, y'all! (i am going to be fairly brief in my review-words in order to fit 30 days of doodles in here。 TWSS?)APRIL 4don't worry, that panda is just sleepy!APRIL 5i might retake this picture because it was a little rushed。 but that will be on tomorrow's to-do list because today's is already too long! MONKEYS!APRIL 6okay, i felt like i was ready to tackle some of the cutest creatures of all。 today, the garbage-bandit raccoon, tomorrow, the (wait for it。。。)APRIL 7today the bag o'tricks FOX!APRIL 8how will these deer EAT without mouths???APRIL 9CATS! CATS APLENTY!APRIL 10trying something different。。。 nom nom nomAPRIL 11these are kind of boring, but if i ever want to start making some kawaii twin peaks drawings, i'll have a head start。APRIL 12awwww, these little guys are cute!APRIL 13i just drew what i saw - the horrors of birds。 happy friday 13th, guys!APRIL 14choosing to draw these guys might be a little cheaty, since i already MASTERED drawing sharks a couple of years back (cue nostalgic music): https://www。goodreads。com/review/show。。。APRIL 15hmm, i wish the colors had photographed better here instead of all coming out gray。 sorry, werewolves!APRIL 16this one's for greg! but for him, this isn't nessie, it's champy, a lake creature he insists is just as cool as nessie, and since he's away upstate right now, i'll let him have it as a "happy vacation" present。APRIL 17so many piggies! i do not like that the book made me draw a cat-mouth on a pig。 it looks stupid。APRIL 18BUGGAS BUGGAS BUGGASokay, a three-in-one posting today, after a delay to mourn The Bird Who Will Never Be。 in its honor, here are some of its peers:APRIL 19RIP, offspring of my little bird neighbor。 i will miss youthat cat will miss youand for ms "pics or it didn't happen" nadine, here is the crime scene:i hope you find a better place to poop out your eggs next time。APRIL 20here are some fat dolphins。 until a dolphin decides to nest across the street from me, causing me to fall in love despite knowing their evil evil dolphin ways, i remain resolutely anti-dolphin。 APRIL 21and here's some candy, which is how i drowned my sorrow over egggate 2018。 i shall never be a chocolate portraitist。 that's some shameful art right there。APRIL 22i feel bad about neglecting entire chapters of this book to just focus on the widdle animals, so here you go: tents。APRIL 23these are ducks, but also balloons。 or perhaps ghosts。APRIL 24CUTE THINGS IN THE SKY WHEEEE!APRIL 25chlamydia bears! APRIL 26yo, game of thrones - you need some storyboards done?APRIL 27sit on this, bitches!APRIL 28uncircumcised elephantsAPRIL 29i figured i should do one with human-people before i finished this project。 man, that's one crowded sound stage, amiright?APRIL 30i decided to use the final day of this project to scoot around the book and do some of the funny/sad ones from different chapters; melting butter, drippy pizza, cotton candy "that is about to be eaten," following the instructions telling me "You can draw a sad moth by making its wings droop," and best of all, "Give this cake a surprised face。 It's about to be eaten!" the surprise of murrrderrrr。at the request of alissa, a cute(r) tailypo in two versions:and for me, i cuteified my cancer to make it less threatening, because it's already ruined the other side of town and now it's trying to move in on what's left and that's not cool, but now at least it's CUTE!come to my blog! 。。。more

I can't draw。 At all。 So it shouldn't come as a shock that I've always admired those who can。 In How to Draw Cute Stuff: Draw Anything and Everything in the Cutest Style Ever! artist Angela Nguyen shows the reader how to draw a variety of cute subjects from people, animals and food to other household items。 Thanks to the phenomenal success of Kawaii - the Japanese culture of cuteness - the popularity of all things cute doesn't seem to be fading any time soon。 The ability to draw cute stuff can b I can't draw。 At all。 So it shouldn't come as a shock that I've always admired those who can。 In How to Draw Cute Stuff: Draw Anything and Everything in the Cutest Style Ever! artist Angela Nguyen shows the reader how to draw a variety of cute subjects from people, animals and food to other household items。 Thanks to the phenomenal success of Kawaii - the Japanese culture of cuteness - the popularity of all things cute doesn't seem to be fading any time soon。 The ability to draw cute stuff can be utilised in a variety of ways: happy mail, doodling, bullet journals etc。 and I was hoping to put some of these newfound skills to good use。The subjects are all cute, there's no doubting that, but many of the things being drawn are quite detailed and - in my opinion - beyond the skills of a beginner。 Perhaps readers with basic drawing skills will be able to draw a policeman, ninja, eagle, tiger, school bus or helicopter by following the instructions, but I certainly wasn't able to。My favourites from the book did include the smiley face expressions, houses, and the puffer fish。 (Loved that puffer fish!) The difficulty level of the majority of items exceeded my own skills as a beginner and I'm sorry to say I couldn't attempt many of them。It is for this reason I'm giving the book 3 stars。* Copy courtesy of Murdoch Books * 。。。more
