i read this fairly quick and it was a good book, the characters had been written very well, the plot had me turning the next page, the ending was jaw dropping, and yet i don't know why i cant bring myself to give it more than three stars。 it feels as though this book is lacking something, but i don't know what。 still an amazing read tho, and i would definitely recommend!! i read this fairly quick and it was a good book, the characters had been written very well, the plot had me turning the next page, the ending was jaw dropping, and yet i don't know why i cant bring myself to give it more than three stars。 it feels as though this book is lacking something, but i don't know what。 still an amazing read tho, and i would definitely recommend!! 。。。more

literally amazing。 like wtf。 the world building is understandable and even tho the superhero names might be a little confusing at the beginning, it’s easy to catch on。 i’m so glad my friend sam convinced me to read。 i also like how i read it slower than compared to my romance reads so i got the chance to really connect with the characters。 the ending was jaw dropping

There was the potential for evil everywhere, and the only way to combat it was if more people chose goodness。 If more people chose heroism。”I love how Adrian doesn’t treat Nova as a Renegade or an Anarchist, but as a girl…as a person who was feelings who has her own experiences and views and they are heard。 I can’t help but agree with Nova the world would be better without any prodigies as their presence made the non-prodigies weaker。 They know other people would do the job so why would they do There was the potential for evil everywhere, and the only way to combat it was if more people chose goodness。 If more people chose heroism。”I love how Adrian doesn’t treat Nova as a Renegade or an Anarchist, but as a girl…as a person who was feelings who has her own experiences and views and they are heard。 I can’t help but agree with Nova the world would be better without any prodigies as their presence made the non-prodigies weaker。 They know other people would do the job so why would they do anything? Humanity became weaker due to the presence of the Renegades。What I love most in this book is that both our narrators Adrian and Nova have the characters/ names。 As Adrian and Nova the prodigies, Sketch and Insomnia the Renegades, and finally their secret identities as the Sentinel and Nightmare”。 I loved knowing the motives of each character and waiting for everything to be unwrapped。Hey guys, I have come across this awesome series called "The Renegade"。 It is like Dc and Marvel fighting in war and it is soo amazing。 I hope you like my review❤️https://yarathebookaddict。wordpress。c。。。 。。。more

An excellent superhero series。 I love that the super powers aren’t the “standard” ones you hear about。 Each book gets better。 Excellent ending。

4。5。 I actually really enjoyed this。 I haven’t read many super hero books, if any at all, and I loved it? I want to recommend this to Engel cuz I feel like she’d like nova a lot。 Nova was dope, frustrating sometimes but I got to know her better by the end。 Adrien was also so cute he reminded me of Liam from The Darkest Minds with how cute and good he was。 I’m definitely going to continue with this。 Only reason why I knocked it half a star was cuz it took me a lil while to get through, my own fau 4。5。 I actually really enjoyed this。 I haven’t read many super hero books, if any at all, and I loved it? all reviews in one place: night mode reading ; skaitom nakties rezimuAbout the Book: Once people began showing supernatural powers, the world split into three fractions。 The heroes, here to swoop in and save the day。 Common people with no powers, who began to fully rely on the heroes to solve everything, abandoning law, law enforcement, or any kind of self-governing。 And the villains…My Opinion: Another x-men, mutant, superhero story, nothing new, nothing different about it if you aren’t all reviews in one place: night mode reading ; skaitom nakties rezimuAbout the Book: Once people began showing supernatural powers, the world split into three fractions。 The heroes, here to swoop in and save the day。 Common people with no powers, who began to fully rely on the heroes to solve everything, abandoning law, law enforcement, or any kind of self-governing。 And the villains…My Opinion: Another x-men, mutant, superhero story, nothing new, nothing different about it if you aren’t naturally drawn to these kinds of tales。 But if you are, the book is written well, is easy to read, and Marissa Meyer makes pretty good character arcs, so I’m pretty sure it’s not a bad story。 。。。more

Fun & fast readThis is one of those books that had me at the first sentence! It was exciting and had great character development。 I never felt like there was a lull in the story at all。 The only negative thing I found was a random storyline based on 2 characters lifestyle choice that is not something I support or agree with。 But other than that hitch, I LOVED IT! This would be a great TV series on CW。Excited to start book 2!!!

Overall, a good read。 The opening assassination plot was clunky and heavy with superhero names, making it difficult to keep track of at first。 After about the first 100 pages, the story picked up and became interesting。 The morally grey questions added some depth to the otherwise almost-cliche dialogue of a superheroes story

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 3。5It was good, but nothing special。 I’ll start with the things I didn’t like。 This is a minor thing, but near the end of the book everybody just started stumbling on their words and mumbling so much。 It was annoying。 I found it hard to really enjoy the book because I would constantly be reading “The…the carnival。” or, “Would…would I?”I also found it really weird how Ingrid was so all over the place。 Like, I thought you and Nova were besties, and now you’re hating on her。 Pick a side, please。Adr 3。5It was good, but nothing special。 I’ll start with the things I didn’t like。 This is a minor thing, but near the end of the book everybody just started stumbling on their words and mumbling so much。 It was annoying。 I found it hard to really enjoy the book because I would constantly be reading “The…the carnival。” or, “Would…would I?”I also found it really weird how Ingrid was so all over the place。 Like, I thought you and Nova were besties, and now you’re hating on her。 Pick a side, please。Adrian。 Ugh。 He had so much potential, and then he became a basic boring person with no character traits other than heroic and gallant and dashing, etc, etc。 Nova bothered me sometimes。 Like, she was this amazing hero everyone was afraid of, but she always seemed so hesitant and cautious。 And the lying! No! I can lie better! Nobody in this book had ever lied, at least not well!I did enjoy the beginning part a lot, I just feel like it could’ve been better。 The world building felt very good for me though, and I didn’t feel very confused much, which was nice。 Last thing: I wanted to see more from the Anarchists。 They seemed so intriguing, but there seemed to be this disconnect with them。Edit: If Leigh Bardugo’s books are rich, than this is as dry as a slightly damp sponge。 No hate, just not my thing。 I think I would’ve liked this better in 5th/6th grade, so, if any 5th/6th graders read this review, read it now。 :) It’s also a pretty easy book, if you want a break of harder books。 。。。more

2。5 starsA pretty generic and cliche superhero story that has been done so many times already。 So many character concepts were pulled from X-men or Marvel characters。 The dialogue between the characters was rather cheesy and cringeworthy at times and just sounded very immature at times。 There wasn't anything that really stood out to me throughout reading thisThe characters are rather bland and undefined and I feel no real attachment to any of them。 Adrian is a try-hard pick-me boy that got on my 2。5 starsA pretty generic and cliche superhero story that has been done so many times already。 So many character concepts were pulled from X-men or Marvel characters。 The dialogue between the characters was rather cheesy and cringeworthy at times and just sounded very immature at times。 There wasn't anything that really stood out to me throughout reading thisThe characters are rather bland and undefined and I feel no real attachment to any of them。 Adrian is a try-hard pick-me boy that got on my nerves while Nova is just so in her own head that she is pretty oblivious to things around her。 The romance - ummm a complete miss for me, I could really do without it。 There was an attempt made to discuss morality and what is right or wrong, but it wasn't fully fleshed out。 This book was too long as too many portions contributed nothing to advancing the plot or developing the characters more。 The big finale at the end felt rather anti-climatic and unfinished。 Overall, this was nothing special and it really didn't capture my attention like The Lunar Chronicles did。 。。。more

There was definitely plenty filler but I still really enjoyed this。 It was easier to read than I expected and I look forward to reading the second book。

DNF at page 45。12 year old Laurie might have liked this book。 But then again, 12 year old Laurie was reading Game of Thrones and Wheel of Time, so maybe not。 This was basically Watchmen for 1st-graders and I was not here for it。 Pass。

J

Takes a while to get into the story with so many characters and names, but premise seems promising。 Interesting to see our heroes (or anti-heroes) toe the line between justice and vengeance。

Such a fun read! I would have been absolutely obsessed with this book when I was younger, I enjoyed it now, but I'm not really the target audience anymore。 That said I think this book was very successful and I was invested and interested the whole time! I found it very reminiscent of X-Men in its questioning of the place/function of superpowers in society - the Anarchists also felt pretty similar to Magneto's Brotherhood。 And if you're a pretty avid X-Men fan there are some reveals I think you'l Such a fun read!
