November 2021: Not going to rate as I checked this out from the public library and they removed all the extras, so I feel like I didn't get the full experience。 November 2021: Not going to rate as I checked this out from the public library and they removed all the extras, so I feel like I didn't get the full experience。 。。。more

The dreaded pocket book with letters and activities from different traveling crayons。 Amusing the first time, and undoubtedly frustrating every read afterwards as pieces begin to disappear。

Cute homage to the Ahlbergs’ “Jolly Postman” book that I loved as a child and shared with my kiddo。

Fun interactive book for young kids! I totally recommend this book for children learning about letters, colors and sight words!

I feel like this book doesn’t land。 It is unclear who the audience is and I just feel like it’s too complicated for children。 I also feel like I appreciate the interactive nature of it but just don’t like it。

Miss Sarah

An elementary and up picture book about crayons at home and away preparing for Christmas and writing letters home。 Interactive pieces。

Not as enchanting as The Day the Crayons Quit。 We got it from the library so all the extra pieces were out of order and some were missing altogether。 Buy new if you're interested。 Recommended for school age and up。 Not as enchanting as The Day the Crayons Quit。 We got it from the library so all the extra pieces were out of order and some were missing altogether。 Buy new if you're interested。 Recommended for school age and up。 。。。more

I can already tell this will be a book that follows us through the years (even after we lose most of the inserts to the ravages of toddlers and time)。 Duncan and his crayons are near and dear to us (The Day The Crayons Quit has probably been read 100+ times in the past year alone) and this installment isn't just some money-grabbing holiday themed spinoff。 The little details that draw on the previous books captivate the mind and the illustrations are as whimsical and hilarious as ever。 Dallin lov I can already tell this will be a book that follows us through the years (even after we lose most of the inserts to the ravages of toddlers and time)。 Duncan and his crayons are near and dear to us (The Day The Crayons Quit has probably been read 100+ times in the past year alone) and this installment isn't just some money-grabbing holiday themed spinoff。 The little details that draw on the previous books captivate the mind and the illustrations are as whimsical and hilarious as ever。 Dallin loves dressing the Peach crayon up in the costumes, and following Esteban The Magnificient (and the rather magnificent Neon Red Crayon too) on his journey around the world, while I point out how all the famous landmarks are misplaced on the map and Dallin giggles incredulously。 。。。more

Reminiscent of “The Jolly Postman” and very fun。

Cute continuation of the Crayon series。 While whimsical and filled with ‘extras’ the story didn’t flow and most of my kinders lost interest about half way through the story。

Great for a family read aloud, probably not a good purchase for library。 Will share with teachers。 Had hoped for more letter writing examples as well。

A confussion story about some crayons getting mail before Christmas。 Art works was okay, but could have been better。 Same goes for the storyline。 Still it is a good read for kids。 A confussion story about some crayons getting mail before Christmas。 Art works was okay, but could have been better。 Same goes for the storyline。 Still it is a good read for kids。 。。。more

Cute! Just like the others we have read

disapointing, thought it could it have been better

That was a weird book。 And, maybe its just me。。。 but there seemed to be some sexual overtones here as well。 For instance, two crayons fused together below the waist。 And that was after the book opens on a picture of a naked, flesh-colored crayon standing at attention in a pair of underpants。An unexpectedly jarring image。

This is a cute, holiday, continuation of the Crayon story!! The Day the Crayons Quit is a favorite in my classroom every year! This is the perfect book to go along with letter writing activities!! PERFECT for Christmas 2020。 Make a family day out of making letters together so that no one feels forgotten this season, like Duncan in the story。 There are always clever references in these stories and this storyline is really cute! What a fun little book! My grandson will think I’m crazy for getting this for him because he’ll be eleven just before Christmas。 But I couldn’t resist! He loved the other crayon books so I decided to take a chance。 I love it! Can’t wait for Christmas Eve!

So much fun! A surprise in the mail every few pages。 Not just letters, but toys and games too。 Not the most ideal for a library, but we will try。 I put all the paper doll pieces in a baggie。 Maybe we will get them back!Much more fun to have at home with your own munchkins this Christmas。 I'd pack it away every year, so it would become a special Christmas-only book。 So much fun! Duncan's crayons send and receive holiday mail as they decorate the house for Christmas。This book has "envelope" pages with various things inside from paper dolls to a board game to a dreidel cut out to play with。 I'm tempted to say I don't have high hopes for the stuff in the envelopes to remain with the book in our library, but our Jolly Postman book still has all of its notes so there is hope。 Fans of the other Crayons books will like this holiday celebration with them。 Duncan's crayons send and receive holiday mail as they decorate the house for Christmas。This book has "envelope" pages with various things inside from paper dolls to a board game to a dreidel cut out to play with。 I'm tempted to say I don't have high hopes for the stuff in the envelopes to remain with the book in our library, but our Jolly Postman book still has all of its notes so there is hope。 Fans of the other Crayons books will like this holiday celebration with them。 。。。more

An interesting concept - I wondered why the Children's Dept。 at my local public library did not purchase this。 Now, I know - it's not practical。Throughout this stories, packages / letters / cards are exchanged between crayons, their parents, Duncan, etc。 Although an adorable idea, there are a lot of pieces to this tale - letters, perforated playthings to "construct," etc。 Not a good purchase for a library, when they have to keep track of so many items and users are unable to construct the "toys" An interesting concept - I wondered why the Children's Dept。 at my local public library did not purchase this。 Now, I know - it's not practical。Throughout this stories, packages / letters / cards are exchanged between crayons, their parents, Duncan, etc。 Although an adorable idea, there are a lot of pieces to this tale - letters, perforated playthings to "construct," etc。 Not a good purchase for a library, when they have to keep track of so many items and users are unable to construct the "toys" that are provided。 As it is, when I received this (via Interlibrary Loan), some of the letters, etc。 were in the wrong pockets and in one pocket, there was nothing - no idea where its contents are。 。。。more

I quite like the creativity of these stories ,but with the crayon series, I would appreciate if gender-typical colours/ roles could be better explored a little further。 Having said that, such a well illustrated book with lots of connections to colour recognition and writing for a purpose。 Online link: https://www。youtube。com/watch?v=2NZ3D。。。 I quite like the creativity of these stories ,but with the crayon series, I would appreciate if gender-typical colours/ roles could be better explored a little further。 Having said that, such a well illustrated book with lots of connections to colour recognition and writing for a purpose。 Online link: https://www。youtube。com/watch?v=2NZ3D。。。 。。。more

Disappointing after loving the first two books so much, this one cannot stand on its own。 Definitely felt like this one was produced just because they know the crayons books sell well。 Rather than a well thought out story it’s just a few pages of writings heavily dependent on the pop out pieces that kids will be able to enjoy for a short time before tearing or losing-and then the book loses half the story and all of its value。 For those interested the included activities are a crayon paper doll, Disappointing after loving the first two books so much, this one cannot stand on its own。 Definitely felt like this one was produced just because they know the crayons books sell well。 Rather than a well thought out story it’s just a few pages of writings heavily dependent on the pop out pieces that kids will be able to enjoy for a short time before tearing or losing-and then the book loses half the story and all of its value。 For those interested the included activities are a crayon paper doll, paper dreidel, paper Christmas tree ornaments, paper game board, “recipe” (buy packaged cookies and packaged cocoa。。。I get it’s part of the humor。。。), and a map。 。。。more

I got this as a present last Christmas but I only got to read it now。I am obsessed with Drew Daywalt's Crayons Series and this one was a hit & miss for me。 I loved that most of the gang is here and their dialogue are all so witty and funny。 It's also cute seeing them interact with other inanimate objects and it's great to be introduced to non-crayon characters in Duncan's household。Although, some of the inside jokes might not be understood by readers who are meeting these Crayons for the first t I got this as a present last Christmas but I only got to read it now。I am obsessed with Drew Daywalt's Crayons Series and this one was a hit & miss for me。 I loved that most of the gang is here and their dialogue are all so witty and funny。 It's also cute seeing them interact with other inanimate objects and it's great to be introduced to non-crayon characters in Duncan's household。Although, some of the inside jokes might not be understood by readers who are meeting these Crayons for the first time。 Thus, some jokes will really be lost in translation if this is the first Crayon book you'll be reading。I also loved the interactive parts of the books。 However, I think the execution of the interactive parts could have been better。 For starters, the envelopes could have been sealed。 There are so many loose items in the book and they are easy to lose since they don't come in sealed containers。All in all, it's a fun Holiday book that needed some ironing on the technical side。 。。。more

Another clever addition to THE DAY THE CRAYONS QUIT books。 Not the best book for a library because of all the little parts, but a fun story, clever illustrations, and several laugh-out-loud moments。 Nice to see Hanukkah included in the holiday celebration。
