Good book! The book offers a code of conduct based on ancient Toltec wisdom。 Tips in how to live a better life。

This book made me feel all sorts of feelings。。 I felt talked down to, almost like a child? There are so many questions I have about this book。 I feel like a lot of this book was talk and not much on how to achieve these agreements。 Very white and black。 No grey area for you to grow。 It's either you are doing it right, or not at all。 Meh。 This book made me feel all sorts of feelings。。 I felt talked down to, almost like a child? Coming clean about this, the first thing I think about when I hear about the Toltecs is the intro to the 1978 Battlestar Galactica series。 "There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans。 They may have been the architects of the great pyramids, or the lost civilizations of Lemuria or Atlantis。 Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now Coming clean about this, the first thing I think about when I hear about the Toltecs is the intro to the 1978 Battlestar Galactica series。 "There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans。 They may have been the architects of the great pyramids, or the lost civilizations of Lemuria or Atlantis。 Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive far, far away, amongst the stars。"I have no real way of knowing whether what's in this book is actually Toltec wisdom。 It's written in the brash, simple style that's almost stereotypical of the non-native English speaking "old master"。 It's Basho or Yoda banishing an ancient stick。 Every now and then they whack you upside the head with it, hoping the flash of pain gets your n00b brain to understand the true truth。I came to this book from a brief interesting mention in "Be Water, My Friend"。 Decided to crank through it in a couple of sittings。 It's very short, and I scanned past swaths that I didn't care much about - there's a whole section on gossip that I just didn't need。 The main thrust here is likely going to be stuff you know already。 The Toltecs are coming at you with it from a new angle, and an intriguing one: life for most people is a self-perpetuating waking dream of hell。 You've got to comprehend it to wake up。 The part I needed to read, the part I keep needing someone to whack my head with a stick about, is to not take things personally。 In the Toltec way of thinking about it, when you take things personally (both good and bad things!), you're letting other people suck you back down into their hell of judgments。 You take something personally, you get upset, you argue, you make bad decisions, etc。For me, reading it now at this moment in middle age, it doesn't rise to the level of "I really liked it"。 I liked it well enough, though。 3 stars。 。。。more

If you can live by these 4 agreements, surely it will change your life in a positive way! Loved this book from start to finish。

This was an interesting book about being kind, true and honest with yourself。 Use your words for good。 Don’t take things personally。 Don’t make assumptions and always do your best。

In the most vague, spoiler free way I can put this: I think this is a good foundational book for those who are wanting to branch into spirituality。 It really tries to teach you to detach yourself from the “bad” things of life。 That being said, while I enjoyed the overall message of the book, people who are somewhat new to spirituality might be overwhelmed by the language of this novel。 Therefore, that’s why I removed one star。 Like I said, the message is good but the presentation may cause stump In the most vague, spoiler free way I can put this: I think this is a good foundational book for those who are wanting to branch into spirituality。 It really tries to teach you to detach yourself from the “bad” things of life。 That being said, while I enjoyed the overall message of the book, people who are somewhat new to spirituality might be overwhelmed by the language of this novel。 Therefore, that’s why I removed one star。 Like I said, the message is good but the presentation may cause stumps。 I’d say give it a read! 。。。more

This book was on my TBR for so long! For some reason, I had the sensation that it was THE fundamental self-help book I had to read。 And maybe it was! 3/5 for this one。Four impactable agreements he stated are all logically raw and could be absorbed in-depths with careful thoughts。 But, I think as most of the reviewers said, it’s too juvenile than it supposed to be as a self-help book, and I do agree with them。

Gran libro, pone a reflexionar y realmente te hace ver el mundo de diferente y manera。

This book is so simple yet so practical。 I will more than likely be revisiting this book again in the future。

This is a really good and insightful book that will have instant impact on anyone's life。 The author pulls out your inner wisdom and does not try to think for you considering that we are all different。 This is a really good and insightful book that will have instant impact on anyone's life。 The author pulls out your inner wisdom and does not try to think for you considering that we are all different。 。。。more

An important reminder that happiness is a choice。 The author reinforces the idea that our judgments of others are often a projection of our own insecurities。 All of the agreements are about loving ourselves so that we can be more at peace in the world and with others。 It reminded me of yoga class teachings and many other self-help books。 It is rather poetic in writing style。 As all self-help ideas, they seem simple but are difficult to execute。 I think reading these kinds of books are good for p An important reminder that happiness is a choice。 The author reinforces the idea that our judgments of others are often a projection of our own insecurities。 All of the agreements are about loving ourselves so that we can be more at peace in the world and with others。 It reminded me of yoga class teachings and many other self-help books。 It is rather poetic in writing style。 As all self-help ideas, they seem simple but are difficult to execute。 I think reading these kinds of books are good for practicing inner peace even though they seem a bit repetitive。 It's all a work in progress。 。。。more

An easy and quick read。 Enjoyable throughout。 This book has a shamanistic feel to it, while being practical and timeless。

This book made me a little angry。 For trying to help people it is blame-heavy。 The lessons are helpful and I want to use them in my own life。 However, the information in each chapter is lacking and contradictory。 One chapter he says don't make assumptions then the next chapter he is making the assumption that everyone hates their work and only works for the money reward。 One of his examples includes a wife wrongly assuming her husband can read her mind。 I get it, you're a human too Don Ruiz, but This book made me a little angry。 For trying to help people it is blame-heavy。 The lessons are helpful and I want to use them in my own life。 However, the information in each chapter is lacking and contradictory。 One chapter he says don't make assumptions then the next chapter he is making the assumption that everyone hates their work and only works for the money reward。 One of his examples includes a wife wrongly assuming her husband can read her mind。 I get it, you're a human too Don Ruiz, but ya also could've edited this or thought this book through a lot better。 。。。more
