Summary

In the realm of Talamh, a teenage warrior named Keegan emerges from a lake holding a sword—representing both power and the terrifying responsibility to protect the Fey。 In another realm known as Philadelphia, a young woman has just discovered she possesses a treasure of her own…

When Breen Kelly was a girl, her father would tell her stories of magical places。 Now she’s an anxious twentysomething mired in student debt and working a job she hates。 But one day she stumbles upon a shocking discovery: her mother has been hiding an investment account in her name。 It has been funded by her long-lost father—and it’s worth nearly four million dollars。

This newfound fortune would be life-changing for anyone。 But little does Breen know that when she uses some of the money to journey to Ireland, it will unlock mysteries she couldn’t have imagined。 Here, she will begin to understand why she kept seeing that silver-haired, elusive man, why she imagined his voice in her head saying Come home, Breen Siobhan。 It’s time you came home。 Why she dreamed of dragons。 And where her true destiny lies—through a portal in Galway that takes her to a land of faeries and mermaids, to a man named Keegan, and to the courage in her own heart that will guide her through a powerful, dangerous destiny…

Wow! Nora Roberts at her best! Love the characters, mixing present day in two different realms。 As we known it and the land of fairies, witches, werewolves, dragons, etc。 and god。 Good trying to kept peace and harmony against evil。 Bree is born of one world, but grows up in another, she has no knowledge of her previous life being brought to our world at the age of three。 She does have dreams, but no idea what they mean。 Her mother is a controlling person, always pointing out Bree’s failings。 One Wow! After years working 2 jobs, paying student loan, her apartment, etc。 and her mother never told her。 This starts a change of events that brings her to Ireland in search of her father that had setup the account。 Also Leads her to find her grandmother and another world。I listened to the audiobook and the best narration I never heard。 She is wonderful and brings the story to life。 Can’t wait to continue with the next book The Becoming。Thank you NetGalley for this audiobook。 I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story。 #NetGalley #TheAwakening #NoraRoberts 。。。more

For years I've said that I don't like Nora Roberts' books。 But I recently realized that I've either confused her with another author or prejudged her because I'd not actually read a Nora Roberts book。 (I cannot tell you how surprised I was by this。) So, I gave The Awakening a shot and can now officially say I've read a Nora Roberts book。 I’m sad to also say that I didn’t love it。 It was long and slow。 The romantic interest was an asshat and there is no actual romantic development between her not For years I've said that I don't like Nora Roberts' books。 But I recently realized that I've either confused her with another author or prejudged her because I'd not actually read a Nora Roberts book。 (I cannot tell you how surprised I was by this。) So, I gave The Awakening a shot and can now officially say I've read a Nora Roberts book。 I’m sad to also say that I didn’t love it。 It was long and slow。 The romantic interest was an asshat and there is no actual romantic development between her not liking him and jumping in bed and falling for him。 The gay people were super cliched (though I’m thrilled to have seen the rep at all)。 The main character’s all but effortless and basically instant publishing success was more fantastical that the faeries and witches aspect of the book。 And the whole thing ended on a cliffhanger。 I will say that the writing itself is very good and I enjoyed the narrator。 (I personally couldn’t tell if her Irish accents were realistic ones, but I liked listening to it。) I think that if this had been half as long or if the plot had traveled twice as far into the actual story I might have enjoyed it。 As it was, I was largely bored by it。As this is my first Nora Roberts book, I don’t know if this is representative of her work or not。 But I do know I’m in no hurry for more。 Maybe I was on to something all those years I claimed not to like her books。 I gave it a 3* on quality, but I'd probably grade it lower if I was going just on my enjoyment。 。。。more

Il s’agit d’une excellente introduction à une nouvelle saga fantastique dans laquelle on peut trouver la patte de Nora Roberts et qui donne envie de lire la suite。

I really enjoy Nora Roberts books and when I seen this new series I was super excited! I listened to the audio version of this and 100% loved it! The story line kept me hooked and the character development of Breen was amazing。 I really got attached to her and the emotions she went through! So through the story she hoes through a journey of self discovery and in the process finds family she never meet and a whole new world opens to her! Also that end! I usually enjoy a Nora trilogy but some of her last ones were subpar for me。 This one felt more like what I’m used to。 I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next one!

This was chalk full of great characters! I can't even state which character is my favorite。 However, I could definitely point out that the mother was disgusting。 If the mc did not have friends that she had she would probably be a total basket case。 I felt it was a tad long but the cliffhanger totally rocked。 I must go out and get the 2nd book in the series。 This was chalk full of great characters! 4。5 stars。 Beginning was great, middle (learning to fight etc in magic world) was a bit dull and kinda dragged, but the cliffhanger at the end - fantastic。 Looking forward to the next one。

The book had a slow start in Part 1 to the point where I put it down after I read part 1 and didn't pick it back up for days。 It did, however, get interesting after that。 Looking forward to the second book。 The book had a slow start in Part 1 to the point where I put it down after I read part 1 and didn't pick it back up for days。 It did, however, get interesting after that。 Looking forward to the second book。 。。。more

So, I’m remembering how much I love Nora Roberts’ fantasies。 The Cousins O’Dwyer series was one that I read and really enjoyed。 I can tell that I will like this one as much or better。 Breen is a great character, as well as Marg and Keegan。 I can’t wait to read the rest!

The first book in the Dragon heart series and Nora Roberts once again weaves her magic with tales of magic。 The main story is set in Ireland and a land beyond that called Talamh。 I was not only transported into the magical world of the Talamhish people but also to Ireland。 Breen’s character makes you love her, want to protect her and at the same time admire her courage。 This was a book of Breen finding her true self, not only her powers, but also her strength and courage。 Each character in the b The first book in the Dragon heart series and Nora Roberts once again weaves her magic with tales of magic。 The main story is set in Ireland and a land beyond that called Talamh。 I was not only transported into the magical world of the Talamhish people but also to Ireland。 Breen’s character makes you love her, want to protect her and at the same time admire her courage。 This was a book of Breen finding her true self, not only her powers, but also her strength and courage。 Each character in the book Marg, Morena, Harken, Marco, Sally, Sedric, Keegan and not to forget Bollocks make you fall in love with them and keep you wanting for more。Like her previous books there’s dark magic, good magic, good humans and a dog and a story of love loss and war。 What I loved about the book is that amidst all the fantastic, there is the ordinary life which goes on。 It is in this ordinary life that one finds love friendship and faith。 I for one cannot wait to read the becoming 。。。more

I love Nora Roberts, and read this book rather quickly。 The only reason I gave it 3 stars is just because the fantasy world is not my cup of tea。 However, it's written great just like all her books and I will still be reading the rest of this series! If I had the option of negative star I would have done that。 Why the ducking they need to describe the scene so much。。。 every next sentence is describing the scene。。。 like funking get over it, till 200 pages we are just waiting for story to unfold。 Very very slow and pathetic

I love this so much。 Such a beautifully written novel with well-developed characters grew throughout this story。 This novel was great as it keeps you intrigued in it all the way to the end。 I highly recommend this to all who like this type of book。

The Awakening by Nora Roberts。An epic start to this magical trilogy! This book slightly reminded me of my favorite childhood books with the main character discovering another world and their true abilities。 Breen, the heroine, learns about her past and dives into a life that is so much more colorful, adventurous, and daring than she's known。 Throw in some dragons, strong friendships, and war to be waged! I've always loved the creativity of the magical worlds that authors create and Nora Roberts did a fantastic job with this trilogy so far! Not badVery Nora Robertsey, so this was thoughtfully written, supremely researched, very personal journey reaffirmingI felt it dragged a bit and I didn’t believe the female and male lead had real chemistry, I know there is prophecy and destiny involved, but the age and knowledge difference does making this pairing believable。Don’t know if I’ll read following books

This was fun! A little silly and messy, Breen isn’t my favorite yet either。 The magic is also not quite there for me, I like that it is spell based and that they are fairy like creatures。 But it’s still pretty ambiguous。 The love story seemed forced, But I’m excited for the next one。

By far the best book I have read

Definitely not as spicy as what I’ve been reading of late haha but the story is good and the romance part was slow to start and kind of hit it off towards the end but both parties are on the more difficult side so。。ya know how it goes。 I listened to the audio book so I really enjoyed the Irish accents in that production。 As it’s fairly new I’m just glad I only have to wait 21 days for the next book to release!

The Awakening is a Fantasy/Sci Fi where there are two worlds。 There is good vs。 evil, magic, spells, witches, elves, pixies, romantic encounters, friendship, family and lots of love。 It is a book about a young woman who holds herself in low self-esteem but must find the power and strength within herself to become a strong and powerful leader to fulfill her destiny。 The story takes place in present day。 It is a good story that does not conclude because there is a sequel。 Four stars were awarded i The Awakening is a Fantasy/Sci Fi where there are two worlds。 There is good vs。 evil, magic, spells, witches, elves, pixies, romantic encounters, friendship, family and lots of love。 It is a book about a young woman who holds herself in low self-esteem but must find the power and strength within herself to become a strong and powerful leader to fulfill her destiny。 The story takes place in present day。 It is a good story that does not conclude because there is a sequel。 Four stars were awarded in this review。 。。。more

My bank teller at the window suggested this to me, and I really enjoyed it。 I did listen to it, and found myself paused in my chores so I didn't miss a thing。 What a great listen。 Apparently the 2nd book is out; I can't wait。 The author does stop the book at a great place, but she leaves you hanging。The best part of listening to this was the Irish accent。 My husband had to ask me to stop。 I'd recommend this to everyone。 There is the "F" bomb, and one sex scene。 So not clean。 My bank teller at the window suggested this to me, and I really enjoyed it。 I did listen to it, and found myself paused in my chores so I didn't miss a thing。 What a great listen。 Apparently the 2nd book is out; I can't wait。 The author does stop the book at a great place, but she leaves you hanging。The best part of listening to this was the Irish accent。 My husband had to ask me to stop。 I'd recommend this to everyone。 There is the "F" bomb, and one sex scene。 So not clean。 。。。more

Slow buildThis is a fabulous story, one that fieels like it has been woven from all the other stories before it。 It feels familiar but not in an overdone, heard it all before way。No lies, it was slow to start, but then, there was a lot to build。 It feels quiet somehow, but the quiet is fed with this charged undertone, it's coiling, ready to strike。 I cant put it down。On to the next! I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the next one。 This story was full of adventure but also full of inspiration。 Breen learns so much about herself and her past after finding out her mother hid a large amount of money from her。 I loved learning about Talamh and the Fey! I’m also hopeful that Breen finds love with Keegan in the future!

3。5 Stars - It was easy to get lost in this world filled with witches, dragons, shifters, elves, and pixies。 I love fantasy books that challenge my imagination to create mental pictures and fill in the visual details。 However, I had a few issues。。。(view spoiler)[There seems to be two separate storylines going on here。。。 First, a contemporary story about a girl who lacks confidence, a stereotypical gay best friend, and a narcissistic mother who forced her on a path she didn't want。 She then disco 3。5 Stars - It was easy to get lost in this world filled with witches, dragons, shifters, elves, and pixies。 I love fantasy books that challenge my imagination to create mental pictures and fill in the visual details。 However, I had a few issues。。。(view spoiler)[There seems to be two separate storylines going on here。。。 First, a contemporary story about a girl who lacks confidence, a stereotypical gay best friend, and a narcissistic mother who forced her on a path she didn't want。 She then discovers a hidden trust fund, quits her job, and moves to a charming cottage in Ireland to pursue a writing career, with her cute new dog (who inspires her books), and a village filled with happy, friendly townsfolk。Second, a fantasy story about a naïve girl kept away from her father's magical family in the fey world。 She is reunited with a quirky cast of others, discovers her unique abilities, and learns to fight in order to battle the evil grandfather who wants to drain her power for himself。I went into this expecting the latter, so I was a little frustrated with the pages that I considered unnecessary filler。 I didn't really care for Breen much either。 She's nice, but I'm not a fan of naïve female leads who are emotionally weak。 That's just me。。。 I prefer more bad-assery。 The romance between Breen and Keagan didn't build like it should have, which caused it to be underwhelming。 It wasn't there for most of the book and then。。。 bam it was。 (hide spoiler)]The second book in this series comes out next month。 I will probably check out the reviews before deciding if I continue。 Too many books, too little time。 。。。more
