Death in a book

Although at times a bit slow and repetitious, which may be from being published in pieces, it is a masterwork, and not for the faint of heart!

This isn’t the first time I’ve read this book。 I’m so glad to say that I still love it deeply- this is certainly one of my favorite books ever, and (in my humble opinion) the best thing Dickens has ever written。

Some chapters of the book were boring and it was hard to get through them, however last few chapters are amazing and I really liked it。 I also like the fact that book was telling story during french revolution, which helps to illustrate how it looked like so it has a historic value

To describe a Tale of Two Cities in one word I would use: dramatic。 From the cruelty of the Marquis to Carton’s unrequited love, the crimes of Everyone, up until the final hero’s sacrifice。 We as the audience are taken on a seemingly endless roller coaster, with short lulls of respite but never a completely happy ending。 It was difficult for me to read the book as it was quite dense and busy, with many characters in the play, it was difficult to keep track of the names and their relevance to the To describe a Tale of Two Cities in one word I would use: dramatic。 From the cruelty of the Marquis to Carton’s unrequited love, the crimes of Everyone, up until the final hero’s sacrifice。 We as the audience are taken on a seemingly endless roller coaster, with short lulls of respite but never a completely happy ending。 It was difficult for me to read the book as it was quite dense and busy, with many characters in the play, it was difficult to keep track of the names and their relevance to the story。 However, after peeling back the layers, the book is a beautiful drama of love, guilt, and sacrifice。 I would recommend it to those who would like a more challenging read because trust me, it is worth it。 。。。more

the only tolerable Dickens novel other than a Christmas story

It took me 5 months。 Because I lost interest and couldn't force myself back to it for a long time。 I think I've cured myself of reading books that I think I should have read in college or something。 Henceforth, I will read what I want。 So there。 It took me 5 months。 Because I lost interest and couldn't force myself back to it for a long time。 I think I've cured myself of reading books that I think I should have read in college or something。 Henceforth, I will read what I want。 So there。 。。。more

Reread this classical masterpiece during the cold autumn evenings for which the ambiance created in the book is perfectly suitable。 The ending was still as sensible as I remembered from reading the story during my high school days。

A masterpiece。 For me, up there with Bleak House and Great Expectations。 The last few pages are some of the most beautiful I have ever read- passages that will stay with me。

4。7☆Even with a detached narrative it happened to break my heart。。。How I loved this one!(It is deeply frustrating that I m unable to put my thoughts to words right now!!)I forgot the time I read a classic until this。And now,I m going to go on a 'classics reading diet' for a while。😀 4。7☆Even with a detached narrative it happened to break my heart。。。How I loved this one!(It is deeply frustrating that I m unable to put my thoughts to words right now!!)I forgot the time I read a classic until this。And now,I m going to go on a 'classics reading diet' for a while。😀 。。。more

A little too precious。 Despite the big scope and timeline of the novel, all the characters are connected in some way, which makes the story feel a bit like the movie Crash。。。 Strong ending though。

Another book I struggled to finish yet was rewarded for doing so。 Used an online synopsis to clear up some confusion near the middle。 Several passages late in the book were very fine prose, touching。

The tale of two cities is a good book that follows doctor Manette after his 18 year-long imprisonments when he first meets his daughter and is set in France and England during the french revolution and reign of terror。 All these historical things as well as the writing really put me back to a different time with older styles and words that add to the story。 However, for the same reasons, I don’t like it since the older style can be hard to understand。 Overall It is a great book for historical no The tale of two cities is a good book that follows doctor Manette after his 18 year-long imprisonments when he first meets his daughter and is set in France and England during the french revolution and reign of terror。 All these historical things as well as the writing really put me back to a different time with older styles and words that add to the story。 However, for the same reasons, I don’t like it since the older style can be hard to understand。 Overall It is a great book for historical novel fans and well as dickens fans alike but can be a difficult first read。 。。。more

Worth。 That ending。 Also the bit about the guillotine in book 3 toward the end of chapter 4 was one of my favorite passages I’ve ever read。

Yıllar önce orijinalini okuduğumda beni çok etkilemişti ve yeniden okumak istedim。İlmek ilmek işlenen bir örgüye Charles Dickens 'ın anlatımının gücü, Fransız İhtilali' nin acımasız yüzü ve acı tarafları eklenince ortaya şahane bir eser çıkmış。Önerim, başka bir çevirmenden baskısını okuyun ; çok kötü bir çeviriydi。 Kitabı bilmesem hiçbir tad almadan yapılan okuma olurdu。 Yıllar önce orijinalini okuduğumda beni çok etkilemişti ve yeniden okumak istedim。İlmek ilmek işlenen bir örgüye Charles Dickens 'ın anlatımının gücü, Fransız İhtilali' nin acımasız yüzü ve acı tarafları eklenince ortaya şahane bir eser çıkmış。Önerim, başka bir çevirmenden baskısını okuyun ; çok kötü bir çeviriydi。 Kitabı bilmesem hiçbir tad almadan yapılan okuma olurdu。 。。。more

I was surprised to really enjoy this book! The first half was mostly character development, and I had no clue what the plot was for a long time。 However, once it hooked me I couldn't put it down! By the time the bloodlust of the French Revolution started, I was invested in knowing what happened to everybody, despite being disgusted by the moderately graphic descriptions。 I was surprised to really enjoy this book! This book can be read as many times in one’s life as could be desired。 Charles Dickens is an endless source of fascination and a study of how to develop a character。

Good/ great book。 Twist ending was nice。 As well as the ascendancy of a minor character into a major player in the final stretch。 Pacing isn't the greatest and some characters could use more fleshing out。 However, overall, it's somewhere between good and great。 Good/ great book。 Twist ending was nice。 As well as the ascendancy of a minor character into a major player in the final stretch。 Pacing isn't the greatest and some characters could use more fleshing out。 However, overall, it's somewhere between good and great。 。。。more
