The best way to learn a language is total immersion （no， not the Rosetta Stone program）。 You go to the country where that language is spoken and you try to speak it。 Eventually your need to do things like get food and lodging will force you to pick up at least some of the rudimentary mechanics of the language。 If you don't have the time or the money to go to another country， the second-best way to learn another language is to still be a child， when your neuroplasticity is at its best and you're The best way to learn a language is total immersion （no， not the Rosetta Stone program）。 You go to the country where that language is spoken and you try to speak it。 Eventually your need to do things like get food and lodging will force you to pick up at least some of the rudimentary mechanics of the language。 If you don't have the time or the money to go to another country， the second-best way to learn another language is to still be a child， when your neuroplasticity is at its best and you're most likely to retain the most information。 A middle-aged genius is less likely to pick up a foreign language than someone of average intelligence who is five years old。 But， unless you have a time machine or some sort of Benjamin Button-like disease， you're going to find it even harder to travel back in time than to come up with the money to live in a foreign country。That leaves the third best method to learn another language: this book， provided the language you're trying to learn is Spanish （I don't hazard "Complete Spanish Step-by-Step" will help you pick up Mandarin）。 It's certainly helped me more than hearing family members squabble on "Caso Cerrado con Dr。 Polo" about who called ICE on who。 Highest recommendation 。。。more
