I’d break the issues in this volume down into three categories:1。 Essential: The Infinity Gauntlet mini-series。 You could read these six issues (collected in the Infinity Gauntlet paperback) and get the full plot of the Infinity Gauntlet storyline without needing a bunch of background knowledge of the characters and the Marvel universe of the late 80s and early 90s。 2。 Non-essential but really good: The Silver Surfer issues and the Thanos Quest issues。 These give a great deal of background about I’d break the issues in this volume down into three categories:1。 Essential: The Infinity Gauntlet mini-series。 You could read these six issues (collected in the Infinity Gauntlet paperback) and get the full plot of the Infinity Gauntlet storyline without needing a bunch of background knowledge of the characters and the Marvel universe of the late 80s and early 90s。 2。 Non-essential but really good: The Silver Surfer issues and the Thanos Quest issues。 These give a great deal of background about the Silver Surfer and Adam Warlock。 They’re emotionally resonant and the art is great。 I guess I slept on Ron Lim for a long time, but based on what I read in this book, I’d say he’s one of Marvel’s best artists for this time。 3。 Worth reading if you’re a big Marvel fan: everything else。 The Dr。 Strange and Hulk issues are the best of this lot。 The rest are more perfunctory tie-ins that were probably just made to sell more issues that had “Infinity Gauntlet crossover” on the cover。 They’re OK though。 。。。more

4 stars because of the unnecessary issues。 I enjoyed the silver surfer tie-ins and the main storyline the most。

The core story and Silver Surfer issues within this collection are written very well and move at a brisk pace。 Where I have a problem with this collection is that once Silver Surfer arrives on earth to warn Doctor Strange and everyone else about Thanos, the subsequent issues are not in chronological order。 Not sure why marvel has been doing this with their larger books but I wish they’d bind the book and all the issues inside them in the proper order。 Other than that it’s a solid book despite so The core story and Silver Surfer issues within this collection are written very well and move at a brisk pace。 Where I have a problem with this collection is that once Silver Surfer arrives on earth to warn Doctor Strange and everyone else about Thanos, the subsequent issues are not in chronological order。 Not sure why marvel has been doing this with their larger books but I wish they’d bind the book and all the issues inside them in the proper order。 Other than that it’s a solid book despite some hokey dialogue that hasn’t aged well over time and can come off as kinda corny, but it is a comic book and very much a product of its time so that’s forgivable。 。。。more

When it comes to superheroes, I especially love the two different extreme levels superhero comics cover: street-level stories--usually highly personal to the characters--on one end, and cosmic level universe-reshaping stories on the other end。 This is the earliest Marvel story in the latter category。I hadn't ever read a Silver Surfer or Dr。 Strange comic before, and they are the two most central characters in this story besides Thanos and Adam Warlock。 If I had been completely unfamiliar with th When it comes to superheroes, I especially love the two different extreme levels superhero comics cover: street-level stories--usually highly personal to the characters--on one end, and cosmic level universe-reshaping stories on the other end。 This is the earliest Marvel story in the latter category。I hadn't ever read a Silver Surfer or Dr。 Strange comic before, and they are the two most central characters in this story besides Thanos and Adam Warlock。 If I had been completely unfamiliar with these characters before, I might not have enjoyed the story so much, but the comics were generally good at giving a good introduction to unfamiliar characters。 All the star characters who are the star of a collected comic issue have a short introduction at the start to their concept。 All the side characters have their name mentioned when they first appear and a mention of their relationship to one of the main characters。 For example, Rintrah (Dr。 Strange's green-furred minotaur apprentice) and Clea (Dr。 Strange's。。。 fiancee?) haven't appeared in the Marvel films at all, but they quickly became familiar。 I also love them both now, though I didn't always like how Clea was treated。What I liked: - The scale of the conflict and personal philosophies involved - The world-building and the whole quest and use of the Infinity Gems beyond just "The Snap" - Becoming familiar with the Silver Surfer, Thanos, Nebula, Mephisto, Cloak and Dagger, the Abomination, What I didn't like: - The character "Her" just being made for the purpose of making babies with Adam Warlock (aka "Him") - Adam Warlock as a character (beyond any purposes of plot) - The confusing personal timeline for some secondary characters (Hulk and Drax/Firelord especially) - That a bunch of women are just there for romance/backstory fodder for the men, Nova and Clea especially (Clea is even specifically called out as only being good for making Dr。 Strange's magic better)What I just thought was weird, but am neutral on: - The Marvel cosmic entities are hella weird! Also kinda funny with how they are personified and how they get involved - Thor being a different guy (and everybody knows, but doesn't know who he is) 。。。more

Really good tie ins for Infinity Gauntlet。 Manage to stand on their own as stories while also providing excellent extra storytelling for the main event series。

In anticipation of Avengers Infinity War。 Thanos' quest is given so much more of the mystery, grandeur, and impressiveness that it is due。 In the movie it is such a fait accompli devoid of enigma because the character needed to be built up as unstoppable so the heroes' victory is so much more improbable and heroic。 * how does thanos figure out what the soul gems are where noone else has。 i can feel my brain operating less and less as i read more and more。 there is no genius in consumption and re In anticipation of Avengers Infinity War。 Thanos' quest is given so much more of the mystery, grandeur, and impressiveness that it is due。 In the movie it is such a fait accompli devoid of enigma because the character needed to be built up as unstoppable so the heroes' victory is so much more improbable and heroic。 * how does thanos figure out what the soul gems are where noone else has。 i can feel my brain operating less and less as i read more and more。 there is no genius in consumption and regurgitation of knowledge。 thanos didn't go after arcana knowledge with respect, but with insight。 * imagination beyond the limits of one's existence。 the machine that can do more than it was programmed to do。 。。。more

Está bien, como lector casual de comics es una buena adquisición, te da una perspectiva diferente de las películas。 El final me gustó

Starlin's take on Thanos and the Infinity stones from 91。 filled with great George Perez artwork for the first 3 issues and very good work from Ron Lim for the last 3。How the infinity war movie should have been done with many of the heavyweight cosmic entities involved。Great fun。 Starlin's take on Thanos and the Infinity stones from 91。 filled with great George Perez artwork for the first 3 issues and very good work from Ron Lim for the last 3。How the infinity war movie should have been done with many of the heavyweight cosmic entities involved。Great fun。 。。。more

I really enjoyed these shortsries which added all into one。 I would recommend this book as fans of the marvel cinematic universe will understand the ideas and stories of this book。 I enjoyed the wide variety of characters used and how every character ends up linking in some way。 It is an action and the book was exciting but I paced myself so I could enjoy it。 The ending is very good and I like how the win is built up and not left on a cliffhanger

Andrew Myers

I essentially enjoyed this as an aside as to Avengers 3 and 4。 My knowledge of Marvel during this time is not as great as during its initial fifteen years or in the early 2000s so at first I struggled before getting into the story。 I liked the bits where the films mirrored the books and enjoyed the Cosmic Beings in particular。

It isn't often that I'd say the movie is better than the book。 I think that I was at a disadvantage reading this all at once rather than waiting for the next issue as it was originally written。 With that said, the MCU Thanos is much better than this Thanos。 It isn't often that I'd say the movie is better than the book。 I think that I was at a disadvantage reading this all at once rather than waiting for the next issue as it was originally written。 With that said, the MCU Thanos is much better than this Thanos。 。。。more

What an amazing comic! From the many fan-favorite characters crossing over in this event to the battles between the heroes and Thanos, it's all exciting to read。 After watching Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, it's so interesting that the movies and comic diverge so much。 For example, after the "Snap," the remaining heroes fight Thanos for the Infinity Gauntlet to avenge the fallen, instead of collecting the Infinity Stones in a time heist。 Another difference is in both versions, Th What an amazing comic! Having seen all the Marvel films that were inspired by this comic book story, I fancied reading the original。 There are plenty of story differences, which the films did a better job with i think。 The main problems are that there are too many characters, a lot of prior history that would be helpful to know, and its not written from a clear POV。 One thing that was better was the sense of power that Thanos possessed。 The scale of those he could dispatch was much bigger than the films。

Perhaps I'm just super tired of super heroes, perhaps I should have read this closer to its release than a few decades later, but for sure I was underwhelmed。 I'm not much of a Marvel, DC fan to be honest。 I prefer Dark Horse and other companies which are geared towards more mature audiences。 However, I expected this story arc to be exceptional。 Ultimately I found the dialogue a bit juvenile, and the plot dragged out。 I did enjoy the art and Thanos trying to win the love of Lady Death quite ente Perhaps I'm just super tired of super heroes, perhaps I should have read this closer to its release than a few decades later, but for sure I was underwhelmed。 I'm not much of a Marvel, DC fan to be honest。 I prefer Dark Horse and other companies which are geared towards more mature audiences。 However, I expected this story arc to be exceptional。 Ultimately I found the dialogue a bit juvenile, and the plot dragged out。 I did enjoy the art and Thanos trying to win the love of Lady Death quite entertaining。 As well, the art is wonderful。Overall though, not my cup of tea。 。。。more

Like pretty much every other review notes the core story is really quite good, but since this is an omnibus it includes every single side story no matter how little the reference to the Infinity gems which make parts of this a real slog。 Some of the side stories are great, some of them are not, a few of them are really tedious。 But I loved the whole Infinity Stones stuff and it actually made me a Silver Surfer fan。

4/10This really isn't my cup of tea。 I figured I'd read quite a few literary novels and thought this might be interesting to read around the release of the movie。 There isn't quite the build up of the movie and Thanos felt pretty flat。 I'm sure if I read this as it was coming out I would have appreciated it more。 Overall, I was pretty underwhelmed。 Maybe one day I'll dive more into actual comic books。 4/10This really isn't my cup of tea。 I figured I'd read quite a few literary novels and thought this might be interesting to read around the release of the movie。 There isn't quite the build up of the movie and Thanos felt pretty flat。 I'm sure if I read this as it was coming out I would have appreciated it more。 Overall, I was pretty underwhelmed。 Maybe one day I'll dive more into actual comic books。 。。。more

Interesting to see the parallels between AVENGERS:INFINITY WAR and ENDGAME movies and this graphic novel collection。 I'm glad I have some knowledge of the comics from reading background pieces on the movies, or I wouldn't know who some of the characters are (and I still don't)。 I like the idea of comics, but sometimes the stories just don't flow together like I'm used to from non-serial novels。 Interesting to see the parallels between AVENGERS:INFINITY WAR and ENDGAME movies and this graphic novel collection。 I'm glad I have some knowledge of the comics from reading background pieces on the movies, or I wouldn't know who some of the characters are (and I still don't)。 I like the idea of comics, but sometimes the stories just don't flow together like I'm used to from non-serial novels。 。。。more

By giving this 4 stars, I really have to ignore the clunky organization and the tie-ins that are really meaningless (Incredible Hulk, Sleepwalker, and even some of the Doctor Strange Sorceror Supreme issues)。 The overall story, like may comic events since then, is a little clunky and the tie-ins are meant more to sell comics rather than tell a meaningful tale。 That being said, I still fall in love with the cosmic scale of this event just as much as I did when I was a teenager reading it for the By giving this 4 stars, I really have to ignore the clunky organization and the tie-ins that are really meaningless (Incredible Hulk, Sleepwalker, and even some of the Doctor Strange Sorceror Supreme issues)。 The overall story, like may comic events since then, is a little clunky and the tie-ins are meant more to sell comics rather than tell a meaningful tale。 That being said, I still fall in love with the cosmic scale of this event just as much as I did when I was a teenager reading it for the first time。 。。。more
